Plus the other Clones mostly served under Jedi who motivated them to be more independent, especially Rex under Anakin. Something Fox and the Shock Troopers never had

Idk if it was in legends but the guard were pulled from the other clones to train together. So they were more loyal and heartless than the other clones.

Corusant guard are basically larpers compared to real legions like the 501st. Because the 501st go to actual wars, they have a deeper understanding of brotherhood. We see that during the Umbara arc: they won’t execute one of their own even under orders from a general. Fox however, he’ll just go shoot Willy nilly.

On the subject of Rex talking about all he's been through, I was hoping that old man Rex would have been on the live action Ahsoka show. I would have loved to have some scenes that were quiet moments of Rex and Ahsoka talking. Just old friends talking and processing everything they've been through. That little talk that Rex and Ahsoka had on the bridge of the Venator when they were bringing Maul back to the Jedi was the type of thing I loved and we needed more of.

To have Rex relate his experiences to Omega and the bad batch is a great idea. Keep in mind that Echo is the bridge between the bad batch and Rex...therefore Omega is surrounded with a rich history of the clone wars. Remember when she asked Tech what the war was like and he responded with a technical answer but he never answered the question from a human point of view.

Also, I agree! I think Fox was given orders from above to kill fives, as Palpatine knew that Fives knew too much and probably wanted to get rid of him. This way, his death was even covered up bc it was less suspicious than if they just killed him for no reason. Although, I wish Fives could've made it out alive. He was such a great character!

Awesome as always 1 hour ago (edited) 10th anniversary of Five's death in The Clone Wars, Maybe he was avenged if Fox sacrificed himself for his brothers in The Bad Batch season 3, Rex saw so many brothers were killed (except Cody who survived in a different path), and Cody also losing his friends like Obi-wan and Rex (he think he's dead), After The Bad Batch ends, Rex and Cody is going different path for stay lives any longer. Cody and Rex may not see each other until Mandoverse, which is possibly in Mando and Gorgu's movie, Rex possibly has died for Cody's life, which is a good chance that Cody lives as Jango Fett's aging. It really makes me curious about the entire Shock Troopers’ reaction on hearing that Fox killed a fellow Clone? Having Rex reflect on all that he went through with other clones such as the bad batch would probably do him good too as I'd imagine for a lot of these things that were named such as fives Death or Umara he would carry some deep trauma from.
I still have the rage The thing with this is that we've seen that The Bad Batch has no moral objections to killing other clone troopers. So I think based off of this the bad batch would probably side with Fox's decision to take Fives out, even though it was to the detriment of the republic they fought to uphold
When it comes to Fox shooting Fives, I'm in the middle, though I agree with the idea it's an order to kill. at 4:09 we see Fox make a small nod just before he moves, yes this could be him signaling his men to move up, but it seems too subtle to be a signal, it feels to me more like the small nod we see clones do throughout the series and in Episode 3 when they acknowledge and order. I would love to see a series of Five and Echo as arc troopers, or even clone commandos, to show what they did during the war, maybe in the style of Tales of the Jedi Rex is one of the most beloved characters in Star Wars if you ask me. Makes you really love some of these clones which is ironic because clones are just a step above Roger Rogers, but are they really? Yeah, that would be so cool! I really like it when clones look back at the past, like when Cody and Rex talked about the war in S7! I recently animated a scene of Cody doing this after his mission with Crosshair, so if you wanna check that out, it's the latest video on my channel, but I really hope they do more of that kind of stuff in the actual show!!!

They'll be in a new animated show about Rex, Cody and someone else that's important. Not as old clones in Rebels but right after the Empire came to power and the clone dissidents that helped form the beginnings of what would be the rebel army that blows up the death star 2x 😂

I don’t hate Fox for 5s or Ahsoka and here’s why:
We see in Rebels Rex, an old out of shape clone, going down only after being stunned a second time. Imagine what a drugged up clone in peak condition could have done if he got the blaster, definitely could have killed somebody.
As for Ahsoka as far as Fox knew she bombed the Jedi temple and killed 2 of his men, Anakin and Rex would have the friends letting their emotions dictate what’s true in the situation. So giving the order to kill if needed made total sense.

I would be under the assumption that Stun Shots aren’t perfect and sometimes can be ineffective if the situation isn’t right. Like, a real world example can be with Tasers. Tasers are good at incapacitating a suspect, but there are a few factors that can make them not work. If one of the prongs makes contact, but the other one misses then the target won’t be incapacitated because there isn’t any current. If one prong gets into the skin, but the other one hits a leather belt then the target won’t be incapacitated. If the suspect is facing towards you you’ll need to try and get one prong into their leg and the other into their stomach to actually make the taser effective and if they are facing away the area of effect is much larger (this is why most Police Officer use tasers to catch suspects trying to escape instead of a “self defense” option, if they are running towards the officer the window for error is much smaller). Tasers are great when they work, but I wouldn’t bet my life on it in a life or death situation.
This is one reason why I really hate the overuse of the “Stun Feature” in the recent Dave Filoni shows because it just begs the question… Why not always use the stun option 100% of the time? At least with the situation showed in Episode 4 the Storm Troopers were facing an unarmored small and soft target who was facing away from them (perfect for an incapacitating taser shot). Hell, even in the arch where Asoka was framed you could make the excuse that she had no armor and there were so many stun shots that eventually one would hit. But in the final season of Clone Wars and Bad Batch there are fully armored 6 feet tall muscular men who get incapacitated by a single stun blast. When the “Stun Feature” works so flawlessly it just kinda makes “good guy soldiers” look bad because they are actively deciding to kill their targets at all times despite the fact that they could allegedly just stun them and imprison them at certain points.

    • @regularguy2807
      @regularguy2807 Місяць тому

There not flawless thought. The chase scene with Ahsoka didn't end with her getting stunned despite being shot at so many times and at a fairly close distance (further than fox was from fives).

Pretty sure Palpatine would have given a direct order to fox to not take clone trooper fives alive. He knew too much at that point and was well past the point of being a liability. As soon as fox and his detachment were issued the orders, fives was a dead clone walking. Palpatine is a ruthless tactician and wouldn't have allowed a piece like fives to remain on the board.

    From Fox's perspective:
It was justifiable. Everything they saw alluded to a delirious out of control clone who, after multiple warnings, raised arms against him and given how closely tied Fox is to palpatine i daresay he prbly had orders to shoot on sight....
From Rex's perspective, it's not justifiable at all, as the stun blast setting could've easily been used, or if you refuse to use stun blasts, even a disabling shot wouldve pacified Fives without death
All in all, Fives is one of my favorites, and rewatching those epidoses always leaves me in tears at the end, Fox deserves the death vader ultimately gives him in the comics
But looking at it differently i see the points for all sides, and given how sensitive the information Fives had was, palpatine definitely ordered Fox to kill him to prevent the truth being revealed

I’m mixed when it comes to Fox killing Fives. Yeah, it sucks that Fives died, but we’re ignoring a few things.
    1. Fox had orders to get him, dead or alive, by Palpatine. Hell, he thought Fives went traitor.
    2. Fox didn’t just kill him. He actually tried to get Fives to stand down first. He gave Fives a chance to surrender, which leads me to my next point:
    3. When ordered by Fox to stand down, what does Fives do instead? FIVES WENT FOR A GUN.
I reiterate: it SUCKS that Fives died. Both for story reasons and because he was cool. But Fox doesn’t deserve to be hated for it.

Honestly Fox gets to much hate. Yeah he killed Fives but he did warn Fives multiple times and only shot when Fives pointed the blaster at him. Besides Fox and the Shock Troopers never served under Jedi and were never motivated to be more independent. In a way Fox is actually the perfect Clone, he is 100% loyal, follows orders with no doubt or hesitation, his mission always comes first no matter the feelings, etc. I get why people would hate him but nothing he did was his fault

When the clones went hunting for Ahsoka, Anakin ran point with the 501st so it would be a death wish to have your blaster on anything but stun with Anakin. Fox was a shock trooper and they stayed on Coriscant and weren't battle hardened like all the other clones. Anakin wasn't running point to get Fives so he couldn't really tell the shock troopers what to do since they aren't really grunts to begin with. They're privileged tool bags living the good life in the Capitol . Fox likely had a superiority complex and didn't care if he killed Fives because he thinks a clanker could do it any given day. He ain't gonna be out in the field with those guys so why would he care? That's why nobody likes Fox and that's also why he didn't hesitate to do it.

Fox is a good soldier. As much as we liked fives and WE as the audience knew what was going on. Fox didn't, and as much as everyone likes to speculate, it's not worth it lol. Fox did his job fine. You approach a suspect who looks like he's trapped two other people you know inside a ray shield and you give him orders. Obviously they'd most likely brand Fives possibly armed and dangerous so you'll always go in with your own blaster. Especially at point and in close quarters. Again he ordered fives to out the gun down multiple times and he still goes for the gun and ends up pointing it at him and the rest of his men. Sorry but it's yourself and your men or the man who pointing the gun at you. You don't take that chance. And we've seen stuns in the star wars universe before. They work quite well on most people but a certain few can withstand it and possibly keep going to do more damage. Why risk it? You don't

Well if you think about it, Fives did draw his weapon with finger on the trigger after numerous warnings, Fives was also in an irractice state which lead to his demise just from the over load of information; so seeing that moment was a kill or be killed in Foxes decision making. Fox was following orders albeit whether if Palp said to kill him or not. I came to terms of this pretty recent watching Bad batch watching Crosshair character change from "Good Soilders follow orders" to the character he is now. In summary do I hate fox, slightly a little, but I cannot hate him as much now because he was simply... following orders.

The thing with this is that we've seen that The Bad Batch have no moral objections to killing other clone troopers. So I think based off of this the bad batch would probably side with Fox's decision to take Fives out, even though it was to the detriment of the republic they fought to uphold

Jesus christ, it's been years since fives died and we are still arguing about it and most people are just making things up. You are all ignoring the most obvious facts that make the clone wars a tragic story. You are all just hating on Fox as if the rest of the clones weren't in a constant struggle between making their own decisions and following orders...in a constant struggle about what makes a good soldier. We are talking about millions of guys whose one and only purpose was war and being expendable. You are dissing Fox as if Dogma didn't side with Krell, as if Bly and his men didn't brutally keep on shooting Aayla Secura's dead body long after she was dead. You all are acting as if Commander Thorn (the badass rotary gun coruscant guard) whom we all loved for his valiant last stand wouldn't have done the exact same thing if he was in Fox's shoes, same goes for lieutenant Thire. Coruscant guards were military police, they weren't as close with the Jedi as other clones so it makes sense for them to be less sentimental of them. At the end of the day the Jedi were just soldiers like them, whilst Palpatine was their real leader. Every clone shouted "For the Republic" in battle, Palpatine is the leader of the Republic. If Palpatine would tell most clones besides Rex, who grew to be an incredibly independent thinker because of Anakin, to kill Fives they would have done it. Now I believe that reason Fox killed Fives was because he had explicit orders from Palpatine to do so, but in the event that that's not the case you are all acting as if Fives wasn't sounding completely mental prior to his death, nor Anakin nor Rex believed him, he was in a complete maniacal state, yet we still diss Fox as if the decision to shoot a maniacal clone that's reaching for his gun in a hostage situation is an easy choice...not to mention that Fox's men behind were also in danger. As far as Ahsoka is concerned he had more than enough proof to believe that she had killed his own brothers, it's not like he knew her as well as Rex did to know she would never kill a clone. Hell the entire jedi council outcasted Ahsoka DESPITE knowing her perfectly well, not even Obi Wan tried much to defend her. At the end of the day you are all just forgetting what the clone wars was about. It's about a corrupt system, a corrupt senate and the ignorant Jedi council that led to death and suffering of billions of people around the galaxy. A corrupt system that created an army of million sentient clones and stripped them of their independent thinking, making them tools of war and putting the weight of the galaxy in their shoulders. And ignoring ALL that you all just argue about one clone commander who did his duty. I will never blame Fox for what he did, nor any other clone for their actions, i loved them all, they fought under a rigged system, laid down their lives for nothing. They all tried their best to protect and serve. We are acting as if the only battles and notable things happened by the 501st when it's obvious that every clone fought their own battles off screen, including Fox. Anyway, my point is, the clone wars is a very deep and realistic story that's deeply rooted to what's happening in the real world, stop blaming one soldier and focus on the bigger picture. Fox is a hero just like every other clone, who fought and protected the ones they were assigned to in countless battles and missions.
side note, i am not writing this big comment to argue with anyone, just wanted to get some things off my chest after seeing countless videos about this subject. I'll go play the clone theme on repeat and hope that the Bad Batch gives us a nice catharsis for all the fallen and still living clones.

Fox felt him and his team were above regular clones. They felt they had the real hard job protecting Palpatine. They didn’t see other clones as brothers. Palpatine wanted his clones be loyal more to him than anyone else.

Firstly, I dislike Commander Fox. Second, he was justified in using lethal force against Fives in that case incident. Not only for what had transpired before the shoot, but the fact Fives pointed his blaster at the Troopers.
