    Just bought this same cabinet. Unfortunately we get ripped off in Australia, $500.00 delivered to my door. Used for 2 hours so far. Glass bead all over the place. Leaks like a siv. Going to do your mods with the pvc for the media. Also the lighting and also the vacuum filtering etc. I'm short so don't need more height. Wheels would be handy for moving etc. Thanks for all your great ideas.

    I'm going to pick up one of those bucket vacs. I'm also going copy your top opening modification too. I run my cabinet at 120 PSI using an 80 gallon 7.5HP compressor on a copper piping system. I use an S-35 gun with a carbide nozzle from TP tools. I can blast all day long continuously. Over the years, I've found that a minimum of a 220V 3 HP compressor with a 60-80 gallon tank is needed for decent performance... 5-7.5 HP is even nicer.

    Well, I think you did a real good job with the vacuum system and I am going to steal that idea from you, I ordered a blast cabinet from Jegs because it is a top opening cabinet and I'll have to do almost everything to it that you did less the top. I love the metering valve out of PVC, I think I'll change it a bit but very little.

    Thanks for the insight! What did you use aa a riser for the front legs? For the wheels in the back is that conduit strapped on underneath? Finally the bucket is it filled with water? If so is the inlet in the water?

    So the air coming in….it’s just ambient air coming in the back through that little round door? And getting pulled out via the vac?

    • @freeidaho-videos
      @freeidaho-videos  4 місяці тому

      Xactly! That keeps the dust down in the cabinet so one can see the action. Without it, it only takes 20 seconds before you can't even see the work piece.

      @@freeidaho-videos and you know as far as compressor, I only have a 25 gallon compressor. Its maybe from the 90s but it’s a great compressor. It’s a seers craftsman “professional” two-stage oil less. I’m not sure of the CFM I think it’s 6.4 but then it says something 5.1 SCFM. Anyhow, the harbor freight cabinet looks like it’s 9.5 CSM at 90. Why does the cabinet matter? Is it a matter of the gun and the hose used? Couldn’t one downsize the size of the hose to use a smaller rated compressor?

    • @freeidaho-videos
      @freeidaho-videos  4 місяці тому +1

      @@AmeriFanPicker Like me you are going to have to wait. My Sears is a 1992 30 gallon 5hp single cylinder. So I try to have two projects going at once. Sandblast a little, weld a little, sandblast a little, fabricate a little, and so on.

    What kind of latch do you use for the top to hold it down

    • @freeidaho-videos
      @freeidaho-videos  Рік тому

      No latch needed. With the flat bar, the lid is heavier than standard, and I have a vacuum hooked to the cabinet, so there is negative pressure (vacuum), holding the lid down when in use.

    You will notice that you get media piled up on the ledge under the door at the front of the cabinet and this drops out when you open the door. To cure this drill 3 or 4 1/4" holes next to each other where the media piles up

    Molt be; ets dels meus. Jo també vull fer-me una arenadora casolana perque la que tinc; que es de compra, sols hi cap peces molt petites i l'altre dia que volia arenar el tub d'escapament de la meva R1100RT, no podia posar-la dins.
    He pensat en fer-ne una a partir del xassís d'una nevera. La caixa exterior te unes dimensions que s'ajusten a les mides que necessito i la resta de components es poden improvisar facilment.
