Eric Saade slog igenom i Melodifestivalen som 19-åring med ”Manboy” och vann hela tävlingen året därpå med ”Popular”. Eric har varit ute på turnéer och haft hits både i Sverige och utomlands. Singeln ”Wide Awake”, som han gjorde tillsammans med Gustaf Norén från Mando Diao, tog sig in på många listor runt om i Europa 2016.
Genom sin medverkan i Så mycket bättre 2017 fick Eric upp intresset för att skriva på svenska, och tillsammans med Anis Don Demina fick han en stor hit med den svenskspråkiga låten ”Postcard”. 2019 programledde Eric Melodifestivalen, och nu går han tillbaka till sitt poppiga sound på engelska.

The “oh na na na na na” is giving me all the feels, 90's well brought to modern concept, Eric looking stunning always!
Because the song is sample (stolen) from Gala - Freed from desire. Released in 1997
Soooo robbed!! He deserved to win, and he would definitely win Eurovision too. I am so disappointed. His performance had something so special. The choreo, the lyrics, the meaning behind, everything. 🤍
I am still sad Eric became second. This performance deserved to be presented in Rotterdam.

Eric, you were the reason I met Melodifestivalen 11 years ago with ‘Manboy’. After that I started following the contest every single final and semifinal every year from 2011 (your first Melfest trophy with ‘Popular’). 10 years after, here we’re, again. wow, the moves, the stage, the voice, ITS SO PERFECT FOR THE SONG! i'm so happy that he got to final, i can tell he can win eurovision by any chances!

Sweden must send this to Rotterdam. Many people are complaining about his voice, but I think the whole package will save the day. His moves are so entertaining to watch, the mixture of house and Latin beats, that Arabic-like humming part... The interesting thing will be to see how would they stage this in Rotterdam (he's inside a sort of black box with a camera moving 360°). Other people are taking this song on the light side, but it has a more profound feeling: Eric is conveying the desire to live life in full, in times of a pandemic that has everyone of us under lockdown! That's why he's standing on a lit white square, while the dark threat is all around. Maybe even the dancer in black represents the virus (the invisible death menace that has been all along with us) ...just check that moment when it grabs Saade by the waist and drags him over. In sum, it's a powerful entry, top-10 material.

@@mellud23 That's the problem. It doesn't suit many people. It might sound like an epic radio song, that you would blast infront of your friends, but it won't be memorable or perform well in Eurovision. Also since we Swedes are insecure with our English lyrics, we often send out melodic, beautiful and catchy music to compensate, not tasteless radio music with overrepeating melodies. This is fully my opinion and I don't mind if anyone thinks differently than me.
I liked his old songs Popular and Manboy much more, they were really catchy and memorable. This song sounds like a mix he probably made up in 5 minutes with loop pieces

In this years Melodifestivalen there have been some good songs, less good and great ones but no one had yet to have that little extra that makes you go "This is it". When Eric performed this tonight, those words finally rang through my head. This is unlike anything we have seen before from Eric. You could see in his face, his presence and voice that this is something new. More confident. Mature. And this shows in the music too. Eric have always had great pop songs, and now he came back to the competition with a great, modern, sexy pop song that runs way ahead of everyone else in this years competition. The staging is so fresh, clean and stylistic. You can not take your eyes away from this performance. When Eric's alter-ego enters at the end, it was the icing on the cake. So dark, thrilling yet extremely enchanting. This is the only winner this year for me. I wish him all the best.

This staging is so fitting for the way eurovision will be this year with the curtains blocking the light (and pretty much anyone seeing the performance from the outside) and in the end revealing the background. I genuinely see this winning Melodifestivalen and going far in Eurovision

Could it be the next Euphoria? The arty dance and staging certainly seems to be inspired from it. And the song has certain similarities with a 90`s club hit called Let the boy cry, by an artist called Gala. But not so much it can be called plagiarism. There is even a little bit of Phil Collins, and In the air included in the song. But again, not so much it can be called plagiarism. And I really like the song, even if I was more impressed with the dance routines and staging of both Popular and Man boy. That was extraordinary high energy and style dancing and staging. This was a little arty farty for my taste. But I like the song. So for me it is between Eric Saade and Anton Ewald this year. His dancing was exceptional, the lasers out of this world, and I like the song too. Regardless which of those two that will win, it is 12 points from me.

I actually have to agree with this statement. I personally ranked it 11 because I thought everything about it was pretty awful, from the granpa clothing to the focus on art-dancing and lesser focus on the actual song. I have to give it this, it's fucking NEW!! That is what I love about the swedish Melodifestivalen compared to the danish show. You have room for diversity and improvement in music and I love you for that.

The staging takes the song on a whole new level! The end result is so carefully made and fresh and eric proves once again he's such a great performer. For me, the song has a deeper meaning (because some say it is so dull): it is about loving your life in a relationship. This is symbolized by the white Eric who wants to love "every minute" of it. Then, there is his black alter ego, who wants to bring you down, like obstacles in your life can do sometimes or depression can, so that you don't enjoy your life anymore. The white Eric is in a fight with him and the black part gets defeated as the curtain falls: light comes in with white flashes and love prevails: "you light up my dark every minute". The dark side dies. I like it.

@@martenkalzen3284 yeah, there are a lot of people who dislike his voice and it has been so since Eric got on stage as solo artist more than a century ago. So it feels for me that I read the same discussions as in 2011 for example.^^ I personally like his voice a lot and I enjoy many of his songs and live performances. It is okay that we have different taste and opinions about an artist. ;) I for example don't like Tusse as much as Eric, he doesn't get me somehow and his performance is too stale for me. But a majority in Sweden thought different so it is like this. ;)
