Robert, You can imagine the time I'm having discovering all of the Leonid & Friends stuff only as of two days ago. My toddler son loves the videos too!
Love the end where the men smiled with the satisfaction of having just pulled off something that was as close to perfection as they could have done. Fantastic.
My wife and I had this as our favorite song when we met in 1972 but this version with the strings is even more beautiful! Thank you Elena, Marina, Natalia, Vladislav, Zhazira and Anna as well as all the rest of the musicians and vocals.
I CANNOT stop watching & listening to this group! Since I ‘discovered’ them, here on UA-cam, 2 weeks ago I’ve played their entire catalog over & over (& over ...). As both a vocalist & horn player growing up in the ‘60s & ‘70’s in America I was obsessed with the great horn bands like Chicago; Blood Sweat & Tears; Earth, Wind & Fire, et. al.. I marvel at the exquisite musicianship displayed by all of these immensely talented people and only wish I could could ‘sit in’ with them! Leonid’s ability to cipher these tracks - BY EAR - is reminiscent of the scene in ‘Amadeus’ (movie about Mozart) where Mozart hears Salieri’s march played once by the Emperor Joseph II ... which leads to Mozart sitting down and playing it and then running many variations off with ease. Okay, back to the present from my obscure movie reference ... Leonid & Friends musicianship, obvious passion and enjoyment of playing keystone music from my youth has brought tremendous joy to me in what has been (like so many I suspect) one of the most difficult years of my 60 year-old life! (2020) I am a disabled Veteran living in chronic pain and fatigue from Parkinson’s disease. My medical providers encouraged me to return to my musical & artistic youthful endeavors for ‘Neuroplasticity’ ... and it’s been one of the most effective means of pushing back on chronic pain and keeps me from falling into the twin abyss of dopamine deficiency induced Anxiety & Depression. I, however, hit a very rough spot, 3 months ago and stopped painting and playing my music. That is ... UNTIL I heard Leonid & Friend’s opening riffs of Chicago’s “Make Me Smile”. ... which, in a profound way they did! Thank you so very much to all of you in Leonid & Friends for returning music, joy and hope back into my life!
Listen....I am not a cryer. I'm not. But the arrangement and execution of this song is simply Breathtaking. I didn't think a remake could sound as good or better than the original. But it does...it's beautiful. And yes....it made me cry. 😢😢😢 Well done guys. Peace and love. 🎶🎶🎶
I can't remember who wrote this but it's a finger exercise that I played on my violin for years. Maybe someone will know. Maybe Mozart or Bach? Then to use it in this fantastic song. Long live Chicago and this Russian band that really shouldn't be called a cover band.
I have been a life long fan of Chicago starting with my 1st Album purchase in the summer of 72; but I have to say this is the finest arrangement of this song I have ever heard.. This is beyond words fantastic.
OMG! You almost brought a tear to a 62 year old grouch! I LOVED the added orchestration; fantastic, talented musicians. I hope my praise is meaningful to you.
On March 13, 1976, we married. Colour My World was the song we danced to for our first dance as husband & wife. Thank you for performing this so beautifully. It brings back memories of our wedding dance and all these years together. I also have been listening to all your other videos. Buying your CD's and a tee shirt. Love you all!!
I found these guys purely by accident. I was just browsing on Facebook one day and I saw the link for their cover of 25 or 6 to 4. But all I saw was just the guitars and drums in the picture.(at first, I was thinking it was just a couple of guys throwing something together without horns.) Then the horns played and EVERYTHING CHANGED ! They even got that one guy who's got that rough soulful vocal quality of Terry Kath, he doesn't sound EXACTLY like him but he doesn't really need to, the quality of his voice is close enough.
I saw this live twice, in the 70's before we lost Terry, and just a few years ago with James singing his song he wrote. This arrangement pays homage to the original, while making it better in every way. The horns and strings add so much elegance and depth, I imagine this is how Chicago would do it now if they could. But it goes way beyond that for me. I was involved in live broadcast television production for 17 years on camera, and later as director. It blows me away how good these UA-cam videos are. All the musicians and singers are world class, the editing is superb, and the camera shots are perfect. Well done Leonid and crew. From a lifelong Chicago fan.
As a Long Time Chicago Enthusiast I Can and Must Say that This is the Best Cover I have Ever Heard of Color My World. The Extra Horns and Strings give the song a New Dimension. Excellent Work.
In 1976, my husband & I were married. We had our first dance as a married couple while this song was being performed. It was performed well but your performance outshines theirs. Thank you for this video and all the memories it brings back to us 44 years later. Love you all for this!!
This needs to be at least 30 minutes longer.........this is one of the most beautiful arrangements I've ever heard. The musicality in this is just phenomenal. The Horn section is a nice addition to the beginning, and the rest of the song is just magnificent. Bravo!
I'd say what it is, is another great version of the song. The original is the original....a TON of feeling & emotion in the vocals. This version is less "raw," but the strings are flippin' beautiful in this. Love 'em both.
Never thought I would hear Chicago live again. These guys put me in a time warp. I always love the original band but these guys are a close second. Thanks for turning me on to them!
Hello Leonid. I'm a mexican Chicago fan. Congratulations, you dared making a new arrangement of this emblematic Chicago song... you took the risk... and you did it in a GREAT way. 👍
As a Chicagoan and a fan of Chicago, particularly this set of their work, your flawless covers bring back a flood of emotions and memories that words cannot describe. I do hope you come to the States and share with us this wonderful music live. I will travel to see as many of your shows as possible. Thank you from deep inside for bringing this music to life. Facebook is has gone viral with the 25 or 6 to 4 cover - outstanding! You need to release an album of this music so I might own it and play it to death as I immerse myself in the joy it brings and your outstanding talent! Bravo! Well done! I need this in my cloud library! Thank you so very much for touching so many here in the US.
Normally I'd say tampering with the original arrangement on this song would be considered a sacrilege but your orchestration is simply perfect! Anticipating you guys playing in Philly. I love the arrangement with the additional horns and strings! It’s the perfect tribute bringing together all the elements that make Chicago great with added originality on one of Chicago’s best ever songs. With due respect, this arrangement is exactly what was needed to bring the song into the modern age and rounds it out beautifully. The elegant simplicity of the original will always be THE version, but I’m glad this modern arrangement exists alongside it 😊

Let's be honest for a moment - This is better than the original. The horns, the string plucks, the little extra's.... it's just better.
