Vocals by Tom Barratt.
Bertini sounds like a good name for a band leader; Italian maybe?
Nope, Bertini's real name was Bert Gutsell.
The sound quality of these little Eclipse records is often pretty grim.
The record player is my Bush SRP41, with a BSR UA15SS autochanger.
There's some info on how I made the recording in the description here:
• Bush SRP41 Record Play...
For this recording, I have removed the auto cam.
With the cam in place, the velocity trip mechanism starts the auto sequence before the record finishes.
The run-out groove is only 33mm from the centre of the record.
The Sonotone 8T4A cartridge has a sapphire stylus for 78s.
A diamond LP stylus is easy to get hold of, but the 78 stylus always seems to be a sapphire.
According to Jean/John Walton in 'Pick-Ups - The Key to Hi-Fi' (1965):
"A sapphire stylus on 78 rpm shellac records that are old and worn may only last about 20 hours playing at 4 gm.
This whole subject {stylus wear}, however, requires more research."
20 hours! Yikes.
Romantic and beautiful.
