What I learned today: 1) Lots of people don’t like fender skirts and mag wheels and they don’t mind telling you about it. 2) Everyone is a critic. Show them a beautiful classic Impala and they will start picking it apart and telling you what they don’t like about it. ---------- The wonderful thing about owning a classic car is that you can do whatever you want with it. There will be no shortage of people telling you what _they think_ you should do with it but it’s your car and you can tell them what you think they should do with their negative comments about it. That’s a gorgeous car. I love it. If it was my car (I wish it was) I would remove the fender skirts (because they _are_ removable Y’know) and store or sell them. They’re worth a lot of money. I would put chrome reverse wheels and baby moon hubcaps on it. I’m sure a lot of people would tell me that they don’t like chrome reverse wheels and baby moons but since it would be my car I would have the choice and that’s what I would choose. I’m torn on the dual antennae. If they were original equipment I’d probably leave them alone but if it didn’t already have them I certainly wouldn’t add them. They were considered stylish in the late fifties and early sixties but they serve no purpose other than the aesthetics of symmetry. It’s a cleaner look to have no visible antennae. I’d probably swap the small block out for a 409 with triple 2 bbl carbs but if it had the original 348 I’d leave it alone. 59 Impalas are beautiful cars. People who don’t like them have bad taste.
Skirts are hill Billy on this car.Throw them and the antennas away, hide the antenna under car. The exhaust sounds awful. 30" glass packs sound correct.
My words exactly. That is one gorgeous '59 Impala. I'm usually not a "red" person, but on this car I love it. I'm very picky with skirts too. On some cars I love it, other I hate it. The '59 looks heavier with them.
@@josephconsoli4128 I agree with all of you on the skirts. I pretty much hate them across the board. Though they may have been an available upgrade option, sometimes those can 'downgrade' the car's looks and sportiness. Case in point is the '57 Bel-Air convertible. I've seen them at car shows in person and here on UA-cam where they not only have the horrid fender skirts, they have the ugly front bumper guards in the front and back that look terrible, and almost always the g-- d---- continental kit. In addition, goofy looking outside mirrors. Great examples of where less really is more, truly.
@@robmcgowan4034 Yes. There's times when accessories look good, but typically they make the car gaudy looking. A good example is a '62-'64 Impala SS convertible with skirts, wide whites, and a continental kit! YUK! For instance, if I could afford a '57 Bel Air, I would would want the exterior devoid of any extra's other than side mirrors and whitewalls. No spinners, rubber bumperettes, guards, skirts, etc. if you look at press photo's from the period, the car looks so clean as-is. A car like the '40's Aerosedan Fleetlines, look great loaded with accessories.
I don’t remember anyone hating them. My grandparents had a 59 Chevy station wagon and no one complained about it. I do remember some people not liking the 58 Impala but I have always loved them too. I like the 58, 59 and 61 Impalas better than the Tri Fives and I do like them too. The early Impalas look to me like what a Corvette might have looked like if Chevrolet had done to it what Ford did to the T Bird. I’m glad they kept the Corvette like it was and just added a sporty looking full size car.
They are just so perfect the best car on the road just love them amazing look beautiful amazing perfect looking car thanks friend have a very nice weekend
Now that was (is) a dream car, totally out of place in the UK but would love it. Incidentally, was the boot, sorry, trunk designed for the mafia or da spades for body transport? 🤣🤣🤣

Quand on était gosses, un Immigré de l'Uruguay est venu en Vacances, avec un Voiture comme ça. Les Marmots, on n'avait jamais vu chose pareille, on courait derrière tout le long. Ça fait longtemps hein?
Myron, my feelings too. Skirts make the car ugly. Mags definitely do not belong here. I can remember Impalas in the showroom back in the day. The dealership in those days was Williams Hunt.
Is it not possible to install disc brakes & radials with original (looking) wheels and hubs ? Cos I love the Original look, so is this possible to do ?
It is possible. There’s a company called Coker that makes radial tires that look exactly like the old bias ply tires. You can also upgrade to disc brakes. Lots of people who want to actually drive their classics rather than just look at them do it.
Skirts and stuck on spare tire are gross. I had one in 59. White with red interior I Southern Calif. The one in this video has a terrible sounding exhaust

When I was a little kid, my Mom drove us around in a 1959 Chevrolet Impala. This car was not a hot rod!
This car's a classic.
I love to own this beauty so I could remove the fender skirts and drive it around as intended, a classic chevy

What road queen is called Chevy Impala! The most beautiful car of the bygones!!
As a european I can´t get so easily on with the monsterlike outer shape, but the interior, especially the dashboard is truly superb.
Boy, people hated these when they were brand new. But this one is RED HOT!
One of our favorites!
Had one just like it in high school, red. I loved that car!
No they didn't as the top selling make for 1959 on a "Model" year basis was Chevrolet!!! So don't talk out of your backside!

Drop dead gorgeous car, fell in love with this model long time ago too bad they financially are far out of my reach.
One of the best looking cars
I love the trim on the sports coupes!
Superb, what a dashing car.
They are just so perfect the best car on the road just love them amazing look beautiful amazing perfect looking car thanks friend have a very nice weekend
I will love that '59 dashboard on the '58 Impala
We do too. Beautiful look.
Eran una maravilla de carros nunca volveran

THE DRIVER IS DRIVING THE CAR SUCH A BEAUTIFUL GIRL IS SHOWING HER NICE RED DRESS TO THE PUBLIC.
Súper padrisimo, lo único que lo demerita son los rines deberían ser los originales.
Auto fantastica.
хорошая красивая машина
Makes the 57 look like a Checker cab with fins😂. Gorgeous car
Convertibles are to die for. !!!!!

Great styling....does anyone know how many 59 impalas had the "TriPower" 348 engine.......?
Bonjour superbe. Je suis très fan de cette magnifique voiture de collection. Rouge génial. Merci beaucoup.

I looked again, saddle shoes? BLACK OR BROWN. I've been wanting to get a pair.!!!!
Very good voice ❤️
Mag wheels and fender skirts ???? Don't mix!!! Beautiful car though
Everyone has their preference! :)
Myron Huffman Totally agree! Skirts make a nice car look ugly! Totally out of place on this car!

Finally a 59 that wasn't destroyed with ghetto wheels or a dumbass hydolic kit
Ek dum kdk
The cats eyes! Look better with original hubcaps with spinners on it and no antennas on rear deck
A beauty

Jeez how much did this baby set you back ?
It is truly beautiful but i think the wheel covers are just not looking good on the 59' impala
💖💖💖👍
The wheels and fender skirts are terrible, it would look better stock.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion!
I like it!
Skirts and stuck on spare tire are gross. I had one in 59. White with red interior I Southern Calif.

I love Fords but the 59 Chevy in red was an eyecatcher from me
When I could afford one, I couldn't find one.

Stock configuration only wheels and tires fender skirts Factory only
Too bad it didn't have the original webfoot 348 engine and the fender skirts are not cool. This was a car I drove in High School.
Very rare factory air but get rid of those hokey fender skirts!
