- Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (IATA: TPE, ICAO: RCTP) is an international airport serving Taipei and northern Taiwan. Located about 40 km (25 mi) west of Taipei in Dayuan District, Taoyuan, the airport is Taiwan's largest and busiest airport. It is operated by the Taoyuan International Airport Corporation. In 2016, it was ranked the best airport for its size in the Asia-Pacific region by Airports Council International.
The airport opened for commercial operations in 1979 and is an important regional trans-shipment center, passenger hub, and gateway for destinations in Asia. Formerly known as Chiang Kai-shek International Airport, it was renamed on 6 September 2006 to its current name. It is one of two that serves Taipei; the other, Taipei Songshan Airport, is located within city limits and served as Taipei's only international airport until 1979. Songshan now mainly serves chartered flights, intra-island flights, and limited international flights.
In 2018, Taiwan Taoyuan handled a record 46.5 million passengers and 2.3 billion kg of freight, making it the 11th busiest airport worldwide by international passenger traffic, and 8th busiest in terms of international freight traffic in 2018. It is the main international hub for China Airlines and EVA Air. It is also a hub of Uni Air and the LCC Tigerair Taiwan.

Last year, I went to Thailand and flew Eva Air (LAX - TPE - BKK and on the return BKK - TPE- LAX). Both layovers at TPE were about 4 hours. It is a very clean and well organized airport to transit. You definitely get your exercise, though.

Taipei is my home city and every time I visit this airport I am always in awe, the variety of shops available and how comfortable one can be here. Most of all though, so many kinds of gates to wait at :)

Great video! This is such a great airport even if it's a bit older. At around 30:15 there's a free private shower (yes, FREE shower) on the second level you head up to. I always fly EVA going to Asia and connect through here. The free shower is such an awesome and underrated service they offer. The options for coffee are really lacking early in the morning though lol but that's a small negative. Thanks for sharing and I look forward to going back to this airport later this month (transferring to Cambodia).

the lounges are nice if you can get in one. I am not an expert on that and only was "eligible" for the EVA lounge a few times

huge airport. I often fly LAX TPE BKK and back on EVA so I have been through it many times. The food is not great I have to say. One terminal has small meditation rooms. One for islam, one for Christian, one for Buddhists. just a nice little feature. I have only had layovers of like 3 hours at most. It is clean. never had any long lines. I do like EVA premium economy

Action Kid... Imo, Taipei, just judging by the streams and vids, certainly is cleaner (no surprise there) than New York and I am sure safer (perhaps than any large US city for that matter). However, at the same time, Taipei almost appears clinical to a point. With that said, has your travel Taipei changed your perspective of NYC or the US as a whole? Thank you for your vids and live streams of Taipei!
Yes, Taipei is definitely cleaner. My trip did not change my perspective of New York at all.
@@ActionKid Personally, I am okay with a bit of "grime" for that fact that that NYC is full of action , diversity and culture that very few cities can be in the same conversation. Of course NYC is much safer today than in years past.
