Remember getting this album when it first came out. Killer!!! My hope is that the younger generation of musicians will check out Billy Cobham's incredible & extensive body of work. Thanks Rodrigo!
My first-ever exposure to Billy Cobham was this album. I purchased it in the summer of 1987 before my senior year of high school at a bookstore in Kirksville, MO, when I went to a drumline camp for a week at what was (then) Northeast Missouri State. I saw the cassette for around $5 (which back then, was very cheap). I had remembered reading an interview with Cobham in Modern Drummer magazine shortly before that and then, right there, was a cheap cassette featuring his drumming. The thing about this release is that the first track "Jailbait" was the only tune I could specifically name prior to hearing the album all these years later. I was a rock-influenced drummer at the time and hearing that tune made me a fan of Cobham's playing.
A perfect intersection of jazz, rock and pop with a little tinge of R&B; this is part of my desert island set, next to Sinatra's In The Wee Small Hours, Songs for Swinging Lovers & Miles Davis's Kind of Blue. BC is a jazz titan! Thank you, Rodrigo.
Deixo aqui o meu eterno aplausos a esses inlustres 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🙌
Had to master this onto CD from vinyl and photocopy the LP sleeve (reducing the copy size to 37% for the CD cover). This is a great album, though I prefer the version of 'Arroyo' on 'Inner Conflicts'.
Thanks Rodrigo! I have the cassette with no player lol the solo's (Billy's) are classic! the end of MSG just kicks ass... cool version of Arroyo. Jail Bait don't care for that tune so much. observations & Reflections best tune on the album! Thanks again, brin's back a lot of memories 😀
Dean Brown is out of control on this album!..pure fire and passion, lines of steel...Billy brings out the best in any musician who played with him, like Sir Duke and Sir Miles Davis did with their disciples, may they both Rest In Peace..plus he followed the great Mike Stern in this Glass Menagerie continuum, nuff said!..outstanding!
Jail Bait is a word we would call older guys who would be messing around talking to chicks that were much younger then themselves lol. I have to admit growing up in the early 70’s the Girls was so fine. I should know! My wife is 4 years older than myself, and here we are today in 2021 from 1977 when I was 16 going 17 even though I had my eyes on her when I was 12 lol. We still enjoy each other and are about to retire, we’re restoring our 65 mustang that has been sitting from 1996 until this past fall when she said let’s restore the stang and drive across country to the west coast of southern Cali to Washington state. Mind y’all we’re driving from Detroit to southern Cali then drive north on route 1 the coastal line, I love my wife we do things like that or we’ll get tickets an ride the Princess up and down the Detroit river and enjoy Dinner, the view of Canada and dancing. You men might want to take note and treat your better half’s like you treat yourselves 😊 My wife is my best friend in everything I do, or she does, children are adults now, it back to just us two, and jazz has always been apart of our household. Imagine that, we’re the older generation now Wow what a wonderful time to live in, enjoy life people, love life, it’s all we have be happy even in sad days find joy inside yourselves let others enjoy you mainly your children and grandchildren even though I do have one grandchild that thinks she’s to my watcher 😂
this is some ride you've taken me on here! Short and sweet, a propos of nothing in particular or no, the jail bird - a term which you seem to have used in a different sense from the one the dictionaries give. From there i had the privilege to follow you in a history of your marriage, short and sweet up to the 'stang' and a planned road trip which by now 3 years later you probably have taken and keep a heart warming memory of. concluding advise for the following generations of male hererosexuals for their communications with the opposite sex! And we all know how needful that is! now before i start trotting out my own experienses of roughly the same period i stop with respectful and cordial greetings from 2024 ! Hold on! As much as liked reading your account of your life and times and your concluding remarks i must add - question of honesty - in between while reading i thought this is too nice to be realistic. But of course who am i to judge ..
A truly inspired and inspiring work. I've had it on Lp a few times. Well, I still have 3 copies on wax.... but 2 are worn out. ;-)THANK YOU for posting this Rodrigo, its fucking delightful! Truly
I saw Billy and this band in !982 in Westport, CT. Great show they did most of this album plus some classics. Dean Brown is agreat guitarist. Why this it's on cd is criminal! Thanks for the upload.
Is there any chance of this being rereleased ever? This was one of my favorite Billy Cobham albums, and I thought for sure it would someday be released on CD. What happened? Why was this never released. And what needs to be done so we can get it released?
They FINALLY re released B.C. which is Billy Cobham's rarest album. So if that miracle came to pass then anything is possible. When they re release THIS on CD my Cobham collection will be complete...
Sad to say that your Cobham CD collection might not be complete for a while. B.C. was originally released on Columbia, a major label. This album came out on Elektra Musician, a small label that went out of existence a long time ago. So the re release of this album might not be happening anytime soon. Of course I hope I'm wrong about that.
Your 100 % right James. I had it in my head that Elecktra Musician was under CBS. But it's just that the same cat was CEO of both labels. But...We Gotta Keep The Faith !!!
Rodrigo Grighini, thank you so much for this upload of this masterpiece. I still have a copy of this album on cassette in my collection in storage. I've been looking for this and you've done me proud by uploading this album. Thank you so much again. My favorite song and part is Arroyo at the 14:00 part with the double snare, then the breakdown.
Perhaps Billy at his very best...Still have the vinyl. Love this work now as much as the day it was released back in 1982. Cobham...a drummers drummer....
It brings me back to better days... So glad I saw billy so many times live in new york.. I was only in my early twenties.. Dean brown Is a monsterguitar player
quando eu tinha uns 21 em 2006 eu pesquisei aqui no UA-cam más não encontrei essa maravilha de álbum más agradeço a ti por compartilha essa riqueza, muito obrigado Rodrigo Grighini!!!!!
when I was about 21 in 2006 I searched here on UA-cam but I did not find this album marvelous thanks to you for sharing this wealth, thank you very much!!!!!
Hi Ron🎻How are you? i’m fine with this superb Billy🥁Cobham recording🎵🌎😃Now i listen this musical_treasure for first time (june 2024)👉🏻my favourite track is “CIQUITA LINDA”, a song by Gil🎹Goldstein🎵😘
I think your track listing is off. Clicked on "Arroyo" and got "Chiquita Linda" instead. Clicked on "Chiquita Linda" and got "Take it to The Sky", and so on.
All 6 tracks available on iTunes on the 50 song collection Billy Cobham "Red Baron" Cost? Only $13 when I got it. A steal to have these 6 tracks digitally. Will certainly tide me over until a CD version comes out. Was getting tired of wearing out my vinyl. Now I can save it for special occasions & headphones! Rock ON! TANX Rodrigo PEACE
The last 2 tracks are EPIC! Those are my favorite Cobham tracks of all time. They completely MURDERED those tracks!
Remember getting this album when it first came out. Killer!!! My hope is that the younger generation of musicians will check out Billy Cobham's incredible & extensive body of work. Thanks Rodrigo!

this album is killer, Cobham at the top of his game. Dean brown is extraordinary.

Great question. If it ever came out on CD I'd snatch it up in a New York minute.
James McKeon Thank you. I know I'm not alone in this. There's got to be demand for this album.

I think your track listing is off. Clicked on "Arroyo" and got "Chiquita Linda" instead. Clicked on "Chiquita Linda" and got "Take it to The Sky", and so on.
You do realize that for all intents and purposes that this album no longer exists,
- make the adjustment slim, make the adjustment.
