- Mr. Checkpoint tells a parking enforcement to move his car after seeing the meter maid write tickets while his car is parked illegally blocking a driveway. Why would parking enforcement think they can park wherever they want??!?!?!

You missed it. He backed up into a Red Zone!! Still illegal
He violates the very same laws he's supposed to enforce.
Hence the saying "practice what you preach."
Didn't he then move his car into a red zone?
The law is just there for us little people.
The law is only to harass the Law Abiding citizens, the criminals are not affected by laws...
+Matthew Dickerson Good point
Moves his car to a red curb.....epic fail
Hey the guy was polite, asked if you wanted the car moved and immediately moved it. I didn't expect that.
True
good point
Yep that's correct. He didn't block there forever. Only for a couple minutes
Yet I'd get ticketed for the same
after he moves "now you are parked in a meter spot without paying"
Mr. Checkpoint. GET A REAL LIFE!!!!
Do as I say, not as I do.
The California Vehicle Code governs parking violations and, generally, makes no exception even for "attended" vehicles parked in front of a private or public driveway. However, most, if not all, police and parking control officers are exempt from traffic laws while performing their duties. I'm not talking about negligent, hazardous violations. I'm talking about non-hazardous violations such as parking.
So, he parked in front of "your" driveway. It appears you were trying to prove something rather than actually needing to use the driveway to enter or exit your property. You have to look at the intent behind a law. In this case, that sign, presumably erected by local authorities, is intended to prevent anyone from blocking the driveway to your property unnecessarily. This officer was not blocking the driveway unnecessarily. He was performing his duties and he was readily available to move the car, as he did.
The fact that the officer moved his car reflects his professionalism, although he was not obligated to move it. The same applies to the other comment about the officer moving into a red zone.
Damn! Get a life!
I know this is an old video, but I routinely see them RACE to give tickets right when street sweeping starts on a block. To point of rolling through stop signs. I twice saw pedestrians have to stop abruptly b/c parking officer was going to roll a right turn and didn't see someone was in the crosswalk until last minute due to rushing/speeding. This guy was also a supervisor. Another explicitly stated that they get evaluated/reviewed on number of tickets (different than a quota where there's a minimum number).
THATS A SPANISH TICKETER FOR U read english
Parking maid most likely falls under the same laws that apply to police and fire. Do you also follow the fire department around and video them illegally parking while fighting a fire?
Somebody please tow this MF car. First he blocks a drive way then goes into a RED ZONE. There needs to be special unit that watches cop and their behavior
At 17 seconds, the officer asked you, "Are you the owner?" You replied, "I am!" Your video does not have any identifying street signs or any other type of address signage. Are you the owner of the drive way that you asked the officer to move his car from?
Please tell me you took this video to this Officers superior an filed a formal complaint. This a clear case of I'm GOD and I going to do my job no matter what it take or at any expense to the law or the public. I can do this but you can't.
Why does the homosexual always over react emotionally, like some little girl every time a minor irritation happens LOL, this guy sounded like a 11-year-old girl
Good video. I have no issues with enforcement but this idiot officer should know better. If he had parked legally himself to do his job then this video would probably not have been uploaded.
Now get the Police to BOOK [ ticket him ] that parking guy for NOT wearing a seat belt?
He moves from blocking the driveway to blocking a fire lane.
I would have ended the discussion with, "Now give yourself a ticket as well!". lol
Meter maid is such a bad name. here in Canada we call them parking attendants .Why don’t you call him meter butler lol.
lol Good for you! Right on; keep smiling
The guy was nice to the parking guy, if that was me that department would have been shut downnnn
Maybe ask to move car before attempting to escalate things. Meter reader seemed very polite. of course he was wrong, none of is are perfect.
That's because that's just a sign. The sign doesn't talk but the person does.
He can in this case do that he is writing a ticket he can do that he is doing a job
Its sad how we got to correct even people above us not to park or block driveways.
Should of wrote him a ticket for parking there
the meter maid wasn't rude and complied, what's the deal?
Seems like he should've gotten a ticket. Pretty rude parking in front of someone's driveway, signs or not.
In Long Beach California you can get towed and a ticket.
He still broke the law. You can't park there when the sign for it says "no parking".
TheTechCguy That's like saying police officers break the no speeding rule and that's illegal.
{TGD} hardcorepro it is illegal. Police have to obey speed limits even when on emergency calls.
he did not put any coins in the meter either ha another law breaker
Look at his tires. Red curb.
Did he give himself a ticket
Time to write yourself a ticket.
What a hypocrite
he should write a tiquet to him self!
Write him a ticket
dude next time just have the car towed. that will teach him and the city.
Tow truck would take too long to get there. The parking sudo-cop should have to pay the same tickets we would get however. Shouldn't be a double standard.
Well done!
Get him!
Awesome!
Good one!
Meter maids that wear Military Insignia on their uniforms? Thats a great pr image there folks
Bumper sticker even says "There's no excuse" Price. Less.
I thought the cop did the right thing.
Happy Gilmore At first I thought he did the right thing too. The cop was parked illegally while writing a ticket to someone also parked illegally . When the cop was informed that his car was blocking the driveway he actually offered to move it, and he did.... right into a red zone. Many people get angry when given a ticket, its easy to do sometimes. Much much easer now days. For so many , being a cop is like a powerful drug that gives them a false sense of power they have never felt. So strong, they would hang on to their job as a cop for just enough pay for him and his family to eat on. I sold things to people with bad credit for years. My worst paying customers? Policemen and Preachers
Happy Gilmore After he did the wrong thing...just like the guy who parked illegally.
It wouldn't take much more than someone parked in the wrong spot for them to call back up.
BuckGreywolfe Nice couldn’t have said it better myself.
The cop moved it without issue. You need to choose your battles more carefully.
etherraichu The cop shouldn't have parked blocking a driveway in the first place. Yes it's nice that he moved when asked. But he shouldn't have been there in the first place. See what happens when you park illegally. Do you think a cop is going to be nice about it and let you get away without a ticket after he catches you? Probably not. They should be held to a higher standard than the general public. They can start doing that by obeying the laws they are there to uphold.
***** That's really the dumbest argument ever. If I was responsible for punishing people that broke the law I would damn well be sure that I didn't break the law myself while working my shift.
***** Thank you for the laugh today.
+etherraichu So that's the answer then, if you're parked illegally and you're going to get a ticket just move your vehicle without issue and all should be well.
+etherraichu He moved his car which was illegally parked into another illegally parked area.
