    Out of the many projects we have to complete, repairing and replacing the roof is top on our list.
    In this video, we begin the process by removing the skylight, the fan vent, the vent pipe covers, refrigerator (which I accidentally call the AC cover) vent screen and cover, antenna, and AC unit.
    Once all of that is complete, we can strip the rubber roofing material, trim, etc. and get everything prepped for damage repair and roof replacement.

    This helps so much. I had floorboards that were basically wood chips after wood damage that we replaced and then my ceiling/roof looks exactly like this. It's all moldy and water damaged. Thanks for posting how you took all this off. This really helps when renovating/repairing at home.

    My parents bought a 1999 fleetwood prowler & had problems with things on it, the worst was just after my mother was almost passing few years back the roof leaked the light bowl in living room filled with rain water I tried fixing it with sealant that was recomended for it still leaked, the tops of these are junk using rubber membrain was completely idiotic.. I would never buy any rv especially from fleetwood..

    • @remodelyourrv
      @remodelyourrv  4 роки тому +2

      We had several leaks. One was around the antenna. one was around the skylight in the bathroom, and the slide was leaking. Where is your leak coming in from?

    Why don't they use marine grade plywood for the roof?

    • @remodelyourrv
      @remodelyourrv  3 роки тому +1

      My guess is because of weight, but I'm not really sure.

  • @homevideos91
    @homevideos91 3 роки тому +4

    Were you getting water on inside? I was putting cover on my rv and I seemed to have found a soft spot where wood felt crunchy. Never any water issues on inside, though. Really stressing

    • @remodelyourrv
      @remodelyourrv  3 роки тому +2

      Yes. My rig was stored offsite (out of mind) for an extended amount of time, which is when it developed the leaks. Water eventually made it inside and I ended up with water damage from the roof to the frame and everything in between. Where is your soft spot at?

    • @homevideos91
      @homevideos91 3 роки тому +1

      @@remodelyourrv the soft spot is on the main roof, not the main slide out. It's located near edge above our fold out couch. No evidence of water anywhere. We use it a lot and I am always looking for issues

    • @homevideos91
      @homevideos91 3 роки тому +1

    • @remodelyourrv
      @remodelyourrv  3 роки тому

      @@homevideos91 I would think you had a compromise at some point and some water got in. Can you identify anything up top where moisture may have leaked in at some point? How big is your soft spot?

    There should be a class action lawsuit against winegard. They are the manufacturers of those horrible antennas. Not only are they useless but they were defective straight from the factory and unless someone sealed the life out of that little rubber boot it would leak.

    How much did this repair cost you

    • @remodelyourrv
      @remodelyourrv  4 роки тому +5

      All in all it was about $750 tops. The Roofing Kit cost me about $550 on Amazon and came with the rubber roofing material, lap sealant, butyl tape, and roof adhesive. Then I spent about $100 on wood and maybe another $100 on miscellaneous materials. But, I did have to replace a skylight, some vent covers, refrigerator vent cover, and the bathroom vent.
