What I appreciate about this pod cast is the talking about depression as a very normal thing - to look and acknowledge it as a ‘thing’ that exists before during and after Covid - and so many other things -
Yeah for poppies!❤
When I have been off drawing I draw something familiar like flowers or leaves They make me feel good.
Love that!
Loved loved LOVED this episode ☮️
You guys resonate with me. Thank you.
Always love the conversations. Thank you
Angelina from Australia. This is the first podcast of yours I have listened to (via Danny's essays mostly) and it will not be the last. Thankyou so much for helping me solidify the thought that my art matters regardless. It matters to me very much. Thank you both.
I'm so glad it was helpful, Angelina Michelle!
God, I love you guys. What a fun, thoughtful , brilliant way to finish off a morning of Draw With Me. So affirming of the creative process and the workings of an artists' brain - Eek, Whew wee! Including poetry and quotes.
Glad you enjoyed it!
As a middle-age art student, I’m not paying for a class. I’m investing in myself to get closer to my art-based vision.
Loving today's discussion. Speaking of supporting other creatives, last month I managed to order John's nature journaling book from Book Depository. It was on my list for a long while and I had almost given up on it. Still hasn't arrived, but should be here any day now.
Oh yay! Very happy to hear this! Kudos to you for not giving up! 👏💜
I bet it is amazing!
If I may enter in here…I make art for myself and I don’t care if someone else will approve. I do it to relax, to keep busy, to express myself, to react to things around me, to feel, to explore and experiment, for my therapy and self exploration. The minute I feel something or someone restricting me, I don’t create anymore. They are.
Interesting discussion as always. As an artist I feel the capitalism and art relationship is so difficult. People expect you to not want to be paid or not deserve to be paid, and what did you expect anyways, because if you want to be paid you shouldn’t have become an artist! I’m still waiting for some happy solution that allows me to be paid without feeling like I’m begging for people to like me/ reward me.
This is only a personal opinion: I think of us as little gods connected to a big god. I feel that the creative force of god permeates everything and we can tap into it. We shape it. We co create.
Rally on against the power structure
Interesting conversation. Thank you for the Ukrainian flag.
