So true!! I'm still using FS2004 and with after years of scenery addons, aircraft and weather addons it looks and flies brilliantly. Always fly in VC using TRACKIR and it's amazing.

Forgot to mention something. This tweaking guide is optimized for both graphic quality AND performance (maximum output relation of both parameters). If your PC is strong enough or still lags after modifying the CFG file, just play with some sliders, but don't touch again the CFG file. Those are universal tweaks intended for a better overall experience with FS2004 in ANY kind of hardware. Cheers!

Screw FSX! I recreate WW2 RAF bases and detailed airfields for FS 2004. Later simulator programs don’t provide so many design programmes. I travel all over the country measuring, surveying and photographing old airfields. Many buildings i cant find online I reproduce in 3D then put the building in the right place on its aerodrome. FS2004 Is less glitchy and buggy than others. But hoping that the new FS2020 will be ace?

That's very interesting to know. Yeah, FS2004 was incredible for its stability. I don't know if any other simulator has ever come close up to this day. September of 2021.

SimpleSim this are Nick Needham's tweaks. I think because you hardly can notice the difference visually but I'm not sure. Cheers

i dont have lag on fs2004 at all, infact i dont have lag at fsx also... but when i installed addons on fsx, i had only 10-20fps which i didnt like, and i heard that fs2004 was much optimized even with addons, so I really want to find some realistic addons, thought this would provide me with addons, plz anyone recommend me any amazing realistic addons? I hate the scenery here thats why!
but how can you have higher frame rates when you locked the frame rate at 24?
Marco Governali Simulation that's what I said that if your pc is strong enough you can play with the sliders. The most important thing is the fs9.cfg tweakings.
I tried running FS 2004 a couple of months ago, and it would not start. I did some research and read that the CD copy protection (you have to keep Disk 4 in the CD drive) didn't work in Windows 10. You can easily find the no-CD crack online, and it works, but it is fs9.exe, not fs91.exe. Is there a way to run 9.1 on Windows 10?

Buenas! Si estoy, ya voy a volver con novedades...
Tenes que GUARDAR haciendo click en GUARDAR o SAVE (si lo tenes en inglés), el documento .CFG. De esa manera lo guardás. Tené en cuenta que por las dudas es mejor tener el simulador CERRADO mientras cambias el .CFG, así no se superponen los cambios. Luego cuando modificaste el archivo podes abrir el simu :)

Ita very hard to use a mouse. It's best for you to get a joystick. If you have funds, it's best for you to get P3D v4.5 or X-Plane 11 if you have an high end computer.

Hi, do you know how to improve the response of controls in flight simulator 2004? My controls have a certain "delay", the plane responds slowly, and the rudder is sometimes unresponsive. If I increase the FPS, will the aircraft respond faster? I think my FS2004 has a good frame rate. 😔
If I recall correctly, there's a utility (an addon) for FS2004 called FSUIPC. You can look it up, I think the free version can help you customize joystick sensitivities. Make sure you download the correct FSUIPC version for FS2004.
FPS are just GRAPHICS. It has nothing to do with Aircraft responsiveness.

I discovered the problem. I hadn't specified before, but I play on keyboard, and when switching the camera to the cockpit window, then zooming out until the yokes appear, I noticed that keyboard piloting is weird/buggy, because FS2004 doesn't understand commands keyboard accurately.
For example, if you press the button for the plane to go to the right and keep it pressed, the FS2004 will identify as if it was just a click, after about 1 second, the controller responds aggressively with the yoke turning to the right.
When using an external control (joystick), the FS2004 understands the inputs accurately, the control is understood immediately and smoothly, completely different from the keyboard.
The FS2004 interprets keyboard commands as if they were clicks, every time you press a keyboard button, the yoke moves a little "robotic". With a joystick, the controls are better and more precise.
Did you understand? If you test it you will understand better.

i lost my fs9.cfg file and now i cant play fs2004. i have the original disks but no cd drive.anyone know where i can download it?
It will generate a new fs9.cfg if you lost the file and you restart the application
