Hi Pete got my 717 today going to do some test panels tomorrow! Used your 5% off as well thanks for all the work you put into this channel and all the great reviews!!
Hi Mate, I think you'll love it. It's genuinely such a good gun and unbelievable value. Good to hear you enjoy the channel, I enjoy making the videos and sharing what I find, good to hear you got a little off with the discount code, I often forget to mention it in some of the video's which is a shame, but I start rambling on I just can't stop 🤣. Be sure to let us know your thoughts when you've had a chance to use it, it good for others to read, so they are not just getting my views. Cheers, buddy 👍
Will do on the feedback Pete. I have a major respray on a restoration I’ve been working on for ever, been waiting on some cooler weather I purchased an inflatable spray booth and it acts like a green house. Did a test run on a 70 degree f day and by the afternoon temp got up to 93!! 😅 Between some slow thinner, the Prolite I purchased years ago and PRD-717 all should hopefully go well!
Just got PRD 717 and tried it out and what a beast 👌🏻🖤. Everything what you said. It really loves low pressure, based easily with 1.1 bar and cleared with 1.3 and sprayed so smooth like a glass. Thanks for finding this gem 💎
Hi Mate, Good to hear you're enjoying the new gun. It really is a very good tool and a bit of a bargain at the price they are, happy days 😀, cheers, buddy 👍
Hi Malcolm, I try and cover as much as I can because I genuinely find it really interesting. It gets a bit nerdy sometimes, but that's me, I guess 😅, Cheers, mate
Hi Mate, I don't think you'll be disappointed, I was so surprised at the low pressure ability, I was expecting a WS400/LS400 experience but it's not at all, much more refined, if you get one, please let us know on here as it helps others decide, good or bad it all helps, cheers buddy, thanks for watching 👍
Thanks Pete for the recommended pressures! I was struggling with trying to figure them out. I’m a diy’er and the other channels were running this at a much higher psi and my stuff wasn’t coming out very good. Only thing I would suggest as a diy’er is turning the amount of paint in an extra turn as it comes out super fast with it all the way open. Other than that works amazing! Glad I picked the 717 over spending double and triple the price for a Iwata or DV1.
Hi Mate, When I first got this I started at 29psi, so 2 bar, if worked fine , the thinner the material the more chance of problems at the higher pressures, so I started running it lower, and lower and it performs better imo, it really doesn't need that much pressure. That, of course, is great for the diy'er as it reduces overspray, uses less materials, and decreases air consumption, a win win. They really are a very, very good gun. Certainly, if the price was the same as a Devilbiss DV1, I would still take the Porphis. It's just so usable. It's good to hear the lower pressures helped, thanks, mate 👍
@@peteshobbies5383 should the psi go higher with a high solids clear vs a medium solids? I’m thinking about painting my show car with a high solids clear. In your opinion is a high solids clear better for show cars?
@Blacksockmafia1 I use HS clears and pressure I use is 1.5 bar, what can happen, with MS clears and too high a pressure is dry spray, it over atomises the clears, not just the Porphis PRD717, but the WS400, LPH400 and the like, so no, just because you use a HS doesn't mean you need to increase the pressure
Great video as always Pete. Better than lph400 is a very high recognization. I haven't found one for sale in my place, only 715 here. Hope I can get one later and compare it to my lph101.
Hi Su, Yes, I do realise that's quite a thing to say, but I do believe it's true. The 715 is a great gun as well, quite different from the 717, and you can convert one to the other with just a tip set. Porphis now has a retail website, so you should be able to order one if you want. There's a link in the description. The LPH101 is a smaller gun, so this PRD717 will seem faster as it's a full-size gun, but I think you'll find it as good, I don't have an LPH101, but I have an LPH300, which is effectively a top cup LPH101 and that's a little gem. Cheers, buddy 👍
Hi Pete, that looks a cracking gun mate and I had to read it twice when you put the air pressure settings on the screen I couldn't believe the gun only needed 1.1 bar for base and 1.3 bar for clear😲that's crazy😅 but it laid the base and the clear perfectly👌 I was going to ask you if the tip needs to line up the same as the WS400 but you mentioned that at the end, so why is it so important to have the tip lined up on the WS400 but not with this gun🤔is it purely just down to the low air pressure or does the aircap affect it as well🤔 Great video as always mate and that tank looked amazing with a nice colour and the finish from the clear is spot on👌cheers Pete👍
Hi John, I'm unsure as to why the WS400 is so peculiar. It's definitely has something to do with pressure, but also, the design of the tip, the LS400, and WS400 OBS don't suffer from the same problems so it a combination of the tip and cap. It seems not to matter with the Porphis, I suspect, because it needs a lower pressure. The PRD717 was an absolute joy to use. It really does do a better job than the Wider4L and LPH400. It's so different to the PRD715, which, as you'll know, is very good, you can convert one to the other to give you the best of both worlds, so you end up with the equivalent to a Sata 5000 RP and the LPH400 all in one package, really good, cheers mate 👍
Hi Tony, Yes, my thoughts exactly, I was initially unsure about longevity, but having had the PRD715 and PRD625 for 8 months, now I am not concerned about that anymore , obviously only time will tell but they seem as well made as all the big boys, cheers buddy 👍
Hi Mate, The PRD715 is a good gun . Some Sata users find X5500 RP is a little slow when compared to the 5000 , others like the fact the X5500 is slower of course
Just received my Porphis 717 with the split tip. Went right to the compressor to check if it was able to keep up with the gun (the compressor is only 250litres/minute and a 100 litre tank). For bike gastanks it's perfectly fine, it has no problem maintaining 1.3 bar at the gun thanks to the large tank and the relative short time you're using it. So happy about that. About the finish of the gun body: here you can see why it's no Sata though. You can find little imperfections here and there under the blue coating and they use a coarse metallic coating in an attempt to hide those imperfections. We painters know that big metalflake hides imperfections better than small flakes. 😊 I have way cheaper Chinese guns which have a better machined gunbody. Not a huge fan of that coarse metallic look but it is what it is. Other then that technically all looks really good. Oh and they added a non-euro hose connector which i can throw in the garbage, it doesn't fit on euro fittings. Looking forward to my first paintjob with it.
Hi Harold, My experience is certainly different to yours. The gun body is anodized aluminium, and on mine, I have 3 PRD 7 series, I can't really see any imperfections, not of note anyways, certainly nothing more than on any other guns, including my various Sata's, which aren't short of imperfections in the casting if you look hard enough. I guess ultimately it how well the gun works, here I don't think you will be disappointed, we'll wait and see 😁, cheers mate 👍
@@peteshobbies5383Does the finishing on your 717's have exactly the same supersmooth fine look as a Devilbiss GTI Pro (lite) or are they more coarse?
Superb fan and atomization, Pete. Since there's no need to turn up the pressure, unlike the LPH400 what do you think the actual air consumption is? If it is reasonable, say 10 cfm, I can still see it being used at home with most budget 60 gallon compressors that possibly can reach 11-12 cfm at 20 psi. The low overspray is probably going to be the main allure for those at home as the LPH still puts out a but of overspray when cranked up, although not as much as a RP gun.
Hi Boss, I'm guessing, as I used them here, for basecoat at 16psi around 10cfm, for clear, I used it at 19psi, so I'm guessing around 11.5cfm. It's certainly no more than the LPH400/Wider4L, but I know people at home struggle with those, having said that the performance of the 717 is better at the same pressures so people will get improved results for the same air consumption which would help I guess, cheers mate 👍
I love the blue Porphis 715 i got for speeding up my clear coat application for jobs my dv1-c is too slow for. I need to get a new 1.8mm primer gun and was going to get an iwata wider 4 but may go with a porphis prd-51 1.8mm since i like the 715 so much. Still can't get over how wide the fan goes out to and how fine the atomization of clear coat is with prd-715
I've got a 515 in 1.3 and a 1.0 conversion kit, built quality is good, can't say re primer as I only have the 1.3, it's a nice size, slight smaller than the 625, it looks so good in purple 😀
Hi Mate, Yes, I use it a lot. It is Yamaha DPB, which stands for Deep Purpleish Blue. On some systems, it's a 3 stage, and others are a 2 stage, lovely colour, especially in the sunlight, cheers buddy 👍
Hi David, it's will be a while. I've only just got one, so I am just experimenting with pressures, materials, and settings. It's designed a little different from the 717, not just shape but tip, so I'm just trying to understand why and if it makes a difference and what that difference is
Hi buddy, yes, they certainly are. They are superbly balanced, so they feel really nice in the hand, as you can probably tell, I'm rather impressed 😀, cheers, mate 👍
I told Triggerman that if i would have bought my PRD715 and PRD627 before the Sagola 4600 1.2 i wouldve been ok not buying it. The 1.4 split nozzle also breaks the paint into nothing giving a flat finish! They used my footage on their instagram. I sprayed 2 square panels with jet black base and clear....no reducer. That panel came out looking like a mirror. you could probably see every detail on your face if you look into it 😄
They do work well don'tthey, I've got a PRD627 coming in the next few days, and I went for 1.3. They spray the same as the 717, so I'm really looking forward to getting it. They are really good guns, as you will know. Cheers, buddy 👍
@@peteshobbies5383 Hello friend, good morning, do you know of any Chinese pistol that has a finish like this PRD 717? I'm from Brazil, to import a pistol of this value it would cost twice the price, around R$2700.. two Brazilian minimum wages
@vitornatanael7498 Hi buddy, No, I don't. Unfortunately, there are the Taiwanese Avalon guns, but they are nearly the same price as these Porphis guns, so it would cost a lot in Brazil also.
Hello Pete first off great job on the channel. Love this place.. after seeing this and I honestly believe what your opinion is. I already own a Sagola extream 4600. With aqua. Orange clear. And the new Titania pro dvr silver cap. Great gun did have just a touch of mottle in a silver metallic. (Before i got Titania) but easy drop coat gone) so when i seen this video i was like man perfect. A slightly slower more controlled gun for tough metalics and pearls. Especially with these new tri coat paints. From listening to you this thing will nail it. Just what im looking for. Your thoughts? Thanks for your time bubba
Hi Mate, There's no doubt these (Iwata, Avalon, and Porphis) split tip guns really do help with basecoats. They are all relatively slow, but really do give a finner atomisation, this makes it easier to lay more complex colours down. The thing with the Chinese and Taiwanese versions is that it brings it to a more affordable level. The PRD717 is one of the best guns I have, bar none. They really are very good
@@peteshobbies5383 that's great . I will be ordering the vs 717 with a 1.4 tonight. Thanks for your reply and all that you do for the painting community bubba. I'm excited to take this think for a spin. :)
Hi Pete ! Thanks for your videos, it's great to see real time comparison between spray guns. I was wondering if you can tell me the difference between the Porphis 627 and 717 as they seem to have similar capabilities ? I'm looking to use it as a basecoat gun with waterbased paint. Cheers and take care 🤙
Hi buddy, I have only recently received the Porphis PRD627, so I am still experimenting, but it seems the 627 is a slightly higher pressure version, but I can't say for sure yet. I've had a few different guns to test all at once, so it's getting the time to try them all while giving them the time they need if that makes sense
@@peteshobbies5383 It does make perfect sense. I can't wait to have your opinion of this then. Thanks for your reply and for the work you do. I really appreciate that. Ta
Hi Pete, thank you for your YT channel :) I was thinking about having s setup at home with a small compressor, just to be able to spray at home. I would like to paint smaller stuff, but still be able to do bigger panels up to 1m² occasionally and was looking at your review of the iwata lph 50. But now I am looking at your review of the porphis prd 717 and wondered which one you would prefer for a small setup at home?
Hi Mate, the Porphis uses much, much, much more air than an LPH50, around 6 1/2 times as much, of course it covers ground faster so won't be used for so long. If you are mainly doing small parts, stick to the LPH80, this is available in 1.2 so will cover larger parts faster and only uses a little more are than the LPH50
@@peteshobbies5383 thank you so much for your advice, iwata it is then :) Kind of a bummer though you can't buy the lph 50 with an e4 1.2 cap, because it is cheaper by quiet a lot :/
HI Pete, Great video!. This gun is really growing on me after watching it on your channel some others. Im leaning towards the 717 with the split tip. Its not fair on Iwata that they are copying their hard earned research and development but i guess that how it is. But which gun do you prefer between the Porphis 717 vs wp99 ?
The PRD717 runs at a lower pressure than the WP99VG, so they are different, I guess I would have the PRD717 as it superbly balanced, and you can convert it to the power house that is the PRD715, best of both worlds 😁
Gotcha. I was leaning toward that as well. Im wondering does the 717 have a baffel or seal on the fluid tip or is it metal on metal like most Iwatas? For me longevity is a factor when buying guns upwards of 200$. I'm already replacing a packing gland on my Pro lite after a limited usage of it. I store it with a little bit of thinner in the gun, Maybe thats the reason is went bad so soon. Cheers@@peteshobbies5383
@brooks.5849 Yeah, that is the pro lite weak spot. Regular changing of that white gasket is needed. This has an anodized aluminium baffle, so it just distributes the air, it not the sealing point, the sealing point on these in a nylon ring, like Sata has, it's made of a type of plastic, I was told but can't remember, certainly my 715 that I've had for 8 months has been fine, you can get spare parts for them if needed The video below from around 5min shows the baffle and sealing ring, cheers, buddy 👍 ua-cam.com/video/d3TrYonykOA/v-deo.htmlsi=XsSg74ZmbKx_iRvG
Great Review Pete! 👍🏼 Looks like a great gun but I hate the CFM they are saying it uses. What would you say its the best full size gun you have ever reviewed that uses low CFM and low Overspray for garage use. And best finishes? Thanks once again for all you do
Hi Mate, It's not as bad as it sounds, the quoted CFM of 15.2 is I'm sure at 29 psi, as I was saying in the video, you don't need anything like that to get excellent results, it's on a par air consumption wise with the LPH400 and Wider4L, but better results. However, you would still need around 11cfm to get results from the PRD717, but, to be fair, that's no different to the Tekna Devilbiss Pro Lite with the TE20 cap or most other full size gun's. The choice for low air consumption isn't particularly wide. You have the Chinese R500/A610/YT160 type guns, and they need around 8cfm, the Anest Iwata W400 Bellaria, or Kiwami4 uses around the same, the Tekna Gti Pro Lite TE10 combination is lower than the TE20 but you will still need 10.5cfm. Have you thought of a mini gun?
@@peteshobbies5383 Im trying to keep it full size gun, due to the fact that I spray at least 3 panels most of the time for collisions work at home. If you buy any of them for around the same price, Wider, Kiwami, Phorpis, or a pre owened LPH400 all around same price what would be your best choice to control the overspray low cfm and still get really good finishes?
With your compressor, there is only the Kiwami4 BA4J that would work. It has the most overspray of the ones mentioned. Unfortunately, you are not going to have enough air for the others
Kiwami has gone up on price a lot now. Around $300 USD on ebay. Do they use same air as Bellaria and classic W400? If so should I buy those instead since they are around the same price from SpraygunsDirect? Or Kiwami is better for low cfm?
Hi mate, I was surprised that this was not a WS400 type competitor, I say that because of the split tip of course, but, it's so much more, it's definitely taking on the LPH400/Wider4L, and, it wins convincingly. I'm well happy with it, and, the build quality is as good as the big boys, cheers buddy, good to hear you enjoy the videos 👍
@Rikats15 I don't have the LV4 LPH400, I have the LVX cap, but I do have the Wider4L, which has the same cap as the LV4 so works the same and this is definitely better 👍
@Rikats15 What don't you like about the LPH400? Just curious. I've been using it more and more and I really like it. Curious what others think. It is a little slow at low pressure but it speeds up if you bump it up. Defeats the purpose of a low pressure gun but it's an option and it sprays really fine
@MarcBchannel I would agree, I like the Iwata split tip guns, especially the LPH400 & and Wider4L, because you can use them at a lower pressure. I think people sometimes get a little wound up with them as you often use them at a higher pressure than they were designed for. I don't think they were designed to go as low as 16psi, but emissions legislation made that the level needed to pass. The Porphis is definitely, imo, better than both the Iwatas as the same pressures, so very rewarding to use, cheers mate 👍
Pete you having access to all these guns you should open up a company selling them,it's hard to get these gun's in America for a good price. They want Sata money to get them here.
Hi Mate, have you checked out the Porphis retail website?, you should be able to get one delivered around 285USD, here's a link just in case, www.porphis-online.com/collections/new-arrivals
Great video Pete as usual . Curious what scales you use ? Cheap or expensive? I’m in the market for some and torn between spending a lot or make do with a ebay or Ali express set .
Hi mate, the ones you see in the video are only cheap ones off eBay. They are fine for what I do, I mix my own paint, and they work ok for that as well. I have a much more expensive set that is super accurate and plugs in a pc but I don't use them anymore, they take up loads of space with the pc as well and don't seem to do a better job than the cheap set. My cheap set only goes to 500g, so it is not good for big quantities, but I have another cheap set that goes to 2kg if needed. An interesting thing is in the UK. If you search for paint scales, you get the same cheap ones coming up that I have, but at 4 times the price, so just search scales 😁, cheers, buddy 👍
@@peteshobbies5383 thanks Pete . I think I will go down the cheap route for now. Love the way I keep finding items straight from places like AliExpress, then on sale in the uk at 10’times the price 😂😂😂 good mark up! I need to change my job
@lockstocky2800 Yeah, I do the same, huge price differences sometimes, I got a good quality phone holder for one of my motorbikes, £11 gbp delivered, same thing on ebay was between £24 and £36, worth shopping around, cheers mate 👍
Hi Andrew, I would certainly put the 715 up against the Sagola 4600. Be interesting. Not this one, though, as it's quite different, it's slower, uses lower pressure, and is more controlled. It really is very good. Cheers, buddy 👍

Amazing...may i ask , your settings on fluid, fan and psi/bar on this spraygun..,just to be sure...im sorry i might miss to catch up.. anyway,im really interested on this..😄👍
Hi David, They only make these in 1.3 & 1.4 , the primer gun I was given was the PHS135 which is a cheaper series gun, that's a 1.8, think it sells around 50 USD. They do make a better quality gun that can be in a primer version, the PRD515, that goes up to 1.8, I have just got one but I got it in 1.3, it's very good but I can't say what it's like in 1.8 because I don't have that setup, Cheers mate 👍
I wish you could compare the lph400 with the proper clear cap ( LV4 ) chrome cap before you say the porphis is a better clear coat gun. The orange LVX cap was designed for base coat as well as the purple LVB cap. I still love your videos though
@davidray4655 Hi David, I understand mate, I don't have the LV4 cap, however, I do have the Wider4L with the J2 cap, this is according to Iwata , a direct replacement for the LV4 cap, you are right, it is a better clear coat cap than the LVX, as im sure I've mentioned in a few videos but this thing is definitely better imo. I will do a back to back between Wider4L and the Porphis PRD717 in 1.4, I have both in that size , so hopefully, we can see if there's a difference, Cheers buddy 👍
@@peteshobbies5383 thanks Pete. I follow you religiously and now I want a 717. I went to their website but I only see it offered in the brown color. How did you get the blue one?
I think they are only doing the 717 in bronze and the 715 in blue at the moment, I wanted another 717 so that I had 1.3 and 1.4 and I could only get it in bronze, so I have one of each colour. It's actually quite nice in the flesh, so no hardship. I've asked them to put some tip&cap sets on their website, hopefully, they will, as I'm sure people would buy a 715 and a 717 tip set or vice versa as they are both excellent and very different, obviously depending on the price
What's the smallest compressor you could realistically use this gun with? I have 50 litres 14cfm (although probably more like 9.5 fad. Really helpful video, thanks.
Hi Angus, You are probably going to struggle with this. If you keep the pressure down, as I used it in this video, I'm guessing it uses around 11cfm for the clear coat stage. Some will want to use a little more, so your compressor will always be playing catch up. Have said that, if you only have small areas to do at once, then you should be ok 👍
@@peteshobbies5383 Thanks Pete, I thought that would realistically be the case. I think I'm going to have to upgrade the compressor anyway. How would you say the quality of these guns compare with the Ntools guys you review, are they worth the extra?
@angusmackay7281 You can always get another compressor and link them. That's what I do, and it works very well. The Ntools 4000B is a cracking tool for the money, but these are much more professional in every respect, if you just want something to do a job then the Ntools is fine, if you want more then it's absolutely worth getting something like the Porphis , cheers mate 👍
Hi Mate, I did enquire about the A60 and the A30, the A60 is rather expensive, around 500 USD by the time it gets to the UK, I can't see it bettering the Porphis gun's to be honest, they really are very good and no where near the price of the Avalon guns
what pressure and settings was your spraying again? looks like im getting another new gun. Just got the black widow from HF and its been good too. Hard to compare between my exp sata x5500 guns
Hi Buddy, I think in this video, it was 1.3 bar, so around 19 to 20 psi, I did say in the video, but I think that is correct . I can't get the Harbour Freight Black Widow, as far as I know it more or less the same as the Aeropro A608?. These Porphis guns are much more in the ilk of the LPH400/ Wider4L type guns, so good at lower pressures, the Porphis PRD715 and 625 are in the same ballpark as the Sata X5500 type guns and very fast, they are also well built
Pete i think in another review of this Porphis gun you compared it to using almost same cfm as iwata lph400 but iwata uses only around 8.5 cfm to run at 1 bar these china guns require a heck of alot more cfm
Hi buddy, Iwata claim around 9.5 cfm at 16psi, I personally think it's more than that, around 10cfm, I would say. I think the Porphis is around the same, Porphis quotes 15.2cfm, but I think that's at 29psi (2 bar) , certainly using them together I don't notice any difference in air consumption, but performance is better at the same pressures which is obviously a plus point, cheers mate 👍
Are you running this gun on the dual compressor setup that you show in one of your other vids? If so, could you spray a whole car with that setup/gun? Not just panel by panel?
Hi Christopher, Yes , I use the compressor setup as in my video. The only difference is that I now have two 90lt belt drive compressors linked instead of one 90lt and one 50lt. With this setup, I can spray whatever I want for however long I want with whatever I want. Having two smaller compressors linked is a great way of getting good air supply from a standard power setup. Just have the startup staggered so they don't trip the power supply, cheers 👍
Better than lph400? Interesting! Do you know something about the ani f160/s the one with the option for the digital gauge? There is a snake version of this gun and looks very nice same as the regular f160? Or better over all?
Hi Fernando, Yes, I think the Porphis is a better gun than the LPH400 or the Wider4L. It really is very good. The Snake ANI F160 is the same as the standard F160. It has a reception for their TDM1 digital gauge, which is the gauge that can fit many of their guns that have that reception. They are good guns, at their price range they are my favourite, much better that the Devilbiss FLG5 and the like , hope that helps 👍
Hi buddy, some of the cheap Chinese guns like the R500 are ok, but they don't use any less air than the Iwata Kiwami4 or W400 Bellaria, in fact, because you need more pressure for the same results something like a R500 actually uses more air! These Porphis guns don't claim to be LVLP, but something like the PRD717 doesn't use loads of air in the end as the pressure can stay fairly low, cheers 👍
Hi buddy, I only have a silver cap Wider4L, not an LPH400, although they are, according to Iwata, a direct replacement. The Porphis doesn't seem faster than the Wider4L or LPH400. It's just different and seems easier to get a good finish
Man I love your videos, but I'd love to know what you strip your test panels with as I've seen the same tanks and fenders (wings ?) in repeated videos. Are you just spraying it down with aircraft stripper and letting it lift? or are you actually sanding these panels down before you do a review? Obviously this one was sanded, but I assume you only want so many layers building up.
Hi Buddy, certainly the 2 car fenders I have you see over and over again, there's a couple of 2 sets of tanks I have that I do over and over, one set is small around 17 liters and the other set 25 litres, most of the others are one offs or as happen the other day, the guy wanted a design on a tank did last year. I have a couple of people that do up certain bikes, so yes, often it will be the same, but not if that makes sense. I like doing comparison videos, so I think for that, and experimenting ,the tank or fender set is ideal as it keeps everything the same except the gun, that way people can see it one gun is faster than the other as they are covering the same area. To answer your question, the ones that get done over and over again are just that, there is probably 20 layers on there, not what you want on things that matter but fine for the purposes that we need them for. A while ago, one of my big sets fell over, and a big chip came out where it hit the concrete floor, so I had to take them back to metal, that I do by sander with 40grit discs on a big Metabo sander, not the Metabo Deros sanders I have as they take ages but a much heavier one, makes the job easier. Sorry for such a long answer 😅, good to hear you like the videos, cheers, mate 👍

Hello Pete, hope ypu are well mate! Wow!, what a find! Looks a great spray gun. In your opinion, with spraying solvent basecoats, especially metallics, would you say this performs similar to a DV1? 🤔🤔 Cheers, Steve👍
Hi Steve, Certainly results wise, the PRD717 is every bit as good as the DV1 base gun, but it goes about it quite differently. If you want a similar gun, so uses a higher pressure, the PRD715 would be more like it. Both are excellent for base and clear coats. When you consider how much the DV1 is, these are absolute bargains.
@peteshobbies5383 Hey Pete, I'm really interested in this Spray Gun due to its low pressure, less overspray technology. Seriously thinking of purchasing this model. 🤔 Cheers, Steve 👍
@srodgie Hi Mate, at the price they are, they are a bargain imo, less than half the price of a DV1, you could get a 715 & 717 for less and have a supremely versatile set up, the 715 is very fast so won't suit everyone but I love it, reminds me of a Sata 5000 RP, cheers buddy 👍
Hi Steve, I think you'll like it mate, it is very good, please, if you can, bring us up to date when you get it and let us know what you think. The more input from different people the better, the only negative I've heard from one person about the Porphis guns is the rotating swivel where you attach a gauge, they, as would others, prefer it fixed, I can take it or leave it, cheers buddy 👍
@joblo2299, Apologies for not answering your question. It has not come up on my feed. It's only now that someone with the same question has shown it up. You are going to struggle with any full-size gun unless you are prepared to wait for your compressor to catch up. There are plenty of midi gun's that will do the job, something like the ANI Compact in 1.3 or 1.4 does a good job and will stay in your CFM limits

Here's what i will say about the ego190 when i had all walcom hins begore switching to devilbiss dv1 guns and replacing the ego190 with a dv1s mini which i run the 0.7mm for cerakote. For the first 14 months the ego190 sprayed cerakote with 0.7mm and spraying base and clear with the 1.0mm cap set and 1.2mm sprayed better than any mini i ever used. A little better than the dv1s for cerakote however i cant speak for base or clear because my dv1s is the 0.7mm/0.9mm with micro cap. I would need the bigger cap, and nozzle to say for paint and clear. Problem with the ego190 as well as my two genesi 360 light guns is they didn't last past 15 months. Hi William, I've never sprayed Cerakote, so I can't say , I have recently got hold of a DV1S micro cap, 0.9 tip and needle, but haven't used it yet. The Ego for base and clear just doesn't seem to do it for me. Maybe I should try it with a better quality clear to give it a chance 🤔
hey im looking to paint my car and getting into the hobby i was thinking on buying the aeropro A610. do you think there is a better gun for me? i want to spend around 180 bucks on my gun including all accessories i need besides the compressor.
Hi buddy, the A610, R500, and YT160 all spray more or less the same now, so they will all do what you want them to, so, yes, the A610 would be good considering your budget, they are a good gun 👍

@poman8772 That sounds like a dream. Start early, and in the afternoon, you have the bake cycle 😂😁.
Cheers buddy, hope it goes well 👍
Just got PRD 717 and tried it out and what a beast 👌🏻🖤. Everything what you said. It really loves low pressure, based easily with 1.1 bar and cleared with 1.3 and sprayed so smooth like a glass. Thanks for finding this gem 💎

Definitely got my subscription!
Thank you 😊
@@peteshobbies5383 should the psi go higher with a high solids clear vs a medium solids?
The LPH101 is a smaller gun, so this PRD717 will seem faster as it's a full-size gun, but I think you'll find it as good,
I don't have an LPH101, but I have an LPH300, which is effectively a top cup LPH101 and that's a little gem. Cheers, buddy 👍
The PRD-717 arrived yesterday. She sure is pretty!😊
It's gorgeous. The beauty is, it's works as good as it looks 👌 😊
Hi Pete, that looks a cracking gun mate and I had to read it twice when you put the air pressure settings on the screen I couldn't believe the gun only needed 1.1 bar for base and 1.3 bar for clear😲that's crazy😅 but it laid the base and the clear perfectly👌
I was going to ask you if the tip needs to line up the same as the WS400 but you mentioned that at the end, so why is it so important to have the tip lined up on the WS400 but not with this gun🤔is it purely just down to the low air pressure or does the aircap affect it as well🤔
Great video as always mate and that tank looked amazing with a nice colour and the finish from the clear is spot on👌cheers Pete👍
That gun really puts out a great finish. I will definitely take a closer look.
Makes the very high end guns look over priced.
Hi Tony, Yes, my thoughts exactly, I was initially unsure about longevity, but having had the PRD715 and PRD625 for 8 months, now I am not concerned about that anymore , obviously only time will tell but they seem as well made as all the big boys, cheers buddy 👍
I ordered a 715 and and another medium pressure sata copy. I use a 5500rp now.
I have way cheaper Chinese guns which have a better machined gunbody.
@Harolddespui I haven't thought about it but I wouldn't say it was more course, I'm away at the moment so can't look 😂
Can you remember paint code for this beautiful color?
Hi Mate, Yes, I use it a lot. It is Yamaha DPB, which stands for Deep Purpleish Blue. On some systems, it's a 3 stage, and others are a 2 stage, lovely colour, especially in the sunlight, cheers buddy 👍
Hi Pete. When might you be doing a review of the prd627? Thank you
Hi David, it's will be a while. I've only just got one, so I am just experimenting with pressures, materials, and settings.
It's designed a little different from the 717, not just shape but tip, so I'm just trying to understand why and if it makes a difference and what that difference is
Such a nice looking gun

Ta
@quentinguillot7670 Thanks, buddy, much appreciated 👍
Hi Pete, thank you for your YT channel :)
I was thinking about having s setup at home with a small compressor, just to be able to spray at home.
@@peteshobbies5383 thank you so much for your advice, iwata it is then :)
Kind of a bummer though you can't buy the lph 50 with an e4 1.2 cap, because it is cheaper by quiet a lot :/
@chriscodon3984 Yeah, they stop at 1.0
HI Pete, Great video!. This gun is really growing on me after watching it on your channel
some others. Im leaning towards the 717 with the split tip. Its not fair on Iwata
that they are copying their hard earned research and development but i guess that
how it is.
This has an anodized aluminium baffle, so it just distributes the air, it not the sealing point, the sealing point on these in a nylon ring, like Sata has, it's made of a type of plastic, I was told but can't remember, certainly my 715 that I've had for 8 months has been fine, you can get spare parts for them if needed
The video below from around 5min shows the baffle and sealing ring, cheers, buddy 👍

@joeltorres3202 Hi Mate, this explains the physical differences between them. I hope it helps 👍
ua-cam.com/video/d3TrYonykOA/v-deo.html
Great Review Pete! 👍🏼 Looks like a great gun but I hate the CFM they are saying it uses. What would you say its the best full size gun you have ever reviewed that uses low CFM and low Overspray for garage use. And best finishes? Thanks once again for all you do
My compressor is only a 27 Gal 4.5 CFM @ 90 PSI
Thanks for video! I’m definitely going to buy this one soon
@@peteshobbies5383 Thank you for finding that gem Porphis 😎👌🏻. I have Lph 400 LV4 but I’m not fully satisfied with it as low pressure gun.
Hi Mate, have you checked out the Porphis retail website?, you should be able to get one delivered around 285USD, here's a link just in case,
www.porphis-online.com/collections/new-arrivals
Worse in Canada here. Pricing is unreal
Hi buddy, I'm wondering why they seem so expensive, is it import tariffs ?

Hi mate, to be honest, you can't go wrong. They are well made and perform really well, I love mine
Is this gun offered with a 2.0 needle nozzle? If not, you mentioned a primer gun from them but didn't show it.
Thanks for the great review. 👍👍
I will do a back to back between Wider4L and the Porphis PRD717 in 1.4, I have both in that size , so hopefully, we can see if there's a difference,
Cheers buddy 👍
@@peteshobbies5383 , thanks Pete. Appreciated.
No worries, you're welcome, buddy 👍
HI MATE,IF IT BE POSSIBLE,CAN YOU DO A REVIEW ON AVALON A60,COMPARISON AGAINST PORPHIS?
PRARRAWAY SAID AVALON A60 BETTER,I DON'T THINK SO AS FAR AS PRICE
AVALON A-60 OVER $360 U.S
Hi Mate, I did enquire about the A60 and the A30, the A60 is rather expensive, around 500 USD by the time it gets to the UK, I can't see it bettering the Porphis gun's to be honest, they really are very good and no where near the price of the Avalon guns
It's not 360 USD by the time it get to the UK, they want shipping on top of the 360, then we get 20% tax on top, hence 500 USD
I can't say whether it's better or not, but I doubt it
Hi Pete. Im interested to know what you like better in the 717 over the Wider4L or the LPH400?
Hi Marc, normally it's quite difficult to simply say one is better than the other, but this is easy, the Porphis is better all round
what pressure and settings was your spraying again? looks like im getting another new gun.
I have a 5hp 60 gallon take compressor would it handle that gun ?
Hi Mate, 5hp should do it, it depends on it's output but 5hp is going to be around 15 to 16 cfm, maybe more, check the ratings plate
I’d love to find out what the best lvlp gun is
Hi buddy, some of the cheap Chinese guns like the R500 are ok, but they don't use any less air than the Iwata Kiwami4 or W400 Bellaria, in fact, because you need more pressure for the same results something like a R500 actually uses more air!
Entonces es más fácil conseguir un buen acabado con menos esfuerzo
@@peteshobbies5383 I'm a product of the 80's, so I don't mind reading. lol. That all makes perfect sense. Keep putting out the good videos and looking forward to seeing what you put out next!
@425racing8 Thanks, buddy, much appreciated 👍
Hello Pete, FYI, I have just ordered one of these 717 VS spray guns. I'm looking forward to getting and using this. 🎉 Cheers. Steve 👍
It is better than the bellaria?
Hi mate, Yes, it's slower but much finer atomisation
What gun do you recommend for a 7 cfm 30 gallon compressor
Hi mate, are you after mini or a full-size gun? , probably more importantly, what do you want to do?

@joblo2299, Apologies for not answering your question. It has not come up on my feed. It's only now that someone with the same question has shown it up.
You are going to struggle with any full-size gun unless you are prepared to wait for your compressor to catch up.
There are plenty of midi gun's that will do the job, something like the ANI Compact in 1.3 or 1.4 does a good job and will stay in your CFM limits
why are you microwaving your clear??
Hi Buddy, To warm the clear coat up, a warmer clear coat flows out better and cures faster
@@peteshobbies5383 how long do you microwave it for?
@illstplaya84 Around 10 seconds per 100ml ml, depends on ambient temp of course
Mini gun next i believe. 😊
