    ABOUT BROKEN RECORD
For generations of music lovers, the liner notes on albums were a central part of the way music was heard. You bought an album and it came with an accompanying narrative: a digression, an aside, a backstory-maybe even an invented history. We intuitively understood that great music required not just listening but conversation between the artist and the audience and the audience and the rest of the world.
Broken Record is a podcast that restarts those conversations-in a world without liner notes-for a new audience of music lovers.
Broken Record is hosted by Justin Richmond with interviews by producer Rick Rubin, writer Malcolm Gladwell, and former New York Times editor Bruce Headlam.

As an old school Pearl Jam fan from late 1991 I can definitely say that I have seen or heard a TON of interviews with members of the band, as many as I could get my eyes and ears on... this is hands down one of the best. Its very special to be near 50 and still have the thing you fell in love with when you were 14 not only still around but be just as humble, important, artistic, civically engaged and forward pushing. The music these guys make and the strength of what they fight for and believe in has been a constant of mine, and many others, lives. We're lucky.
To get to this point where good men like Stone and Jeff are really starting to let us all hear the inner journey, helped by an exceptional interviewer, is really a joy. This was such a cozy, warm, revealing chat, thanks for it.

      “Nearly every interview”, eh?
Even the 1991 KISW interview to introduce the new band to the public?

@@Fakename70 maybe I’ve come across it at some point but I was definitely being hyperbolic. I’m a huge fan and have taken in a lot of PJ since I heard Alive way back then. I was a sophomore in high school and it changed my life. The year previous my dad passed away so it was a godsend to hear a band that “spoke” to me. There’s a real comfort in music that makes you feel less alone. And yeah, I’ve nerded out on them since. Apologies tho if my first statement made it sound like I was some kind of authority… I just love them. Very much so in fact.

Well said, my man. I ,too, have been on a journey w/ PJ since I got a hold of Ten back in '91. It's been a hellova ride. & in the course of the last maybe 3 records they put out, they've all done a real service to the fans by doing a ton of interviews w/ insights into things they never shared publicly before. It's really cool. ✌️😎

This was a great interview. Have to laugh at how they’re dressed. Did they read two different weather reports?

I aspire to be like Jeff and at 61 be able to look good and dress like a 12 year old. Lol. Great interview.
