- More footage from the Pearl Jam VHS tapes I bought at a used CDs store back in the early to mid 90's. I apologize for the muffled/heavy bass poor audio quality, this was simply how the tape originally was.
This video was awesome, just get to see and hear Eddie and Jeff in raw form I love it!!! Thank you very much very appreciative.
Kurt died in early April.. Dave left the band in late summer '94 round August or September. I think you're right about Eddie being upset about Kurt but I still don't see how Dave was this flamboyant rock star so very different than Jeff, Stone, and Eddie. He was content with success but still seemed like a regular guy...
don't apologize for the quality. we THANK YOU for sharing this video!
This is priceless, thanks for posting!!!!
Thank you for sharing your video its awesome!!!
I think he is better than Dave Grohl personally
ari preston In singing; totally agreed. As a guitar player... No.
@BadPennyFilms Looks like 1993 to me. Oh and thank you very much for posting this!
Thanks for the correction.
Wait, MTV used to have music?
If you're saying what I think you are... Dave Abbruzzese getting kicked out of PJ had little to nothing to do with his talents or abilities as a drummer. It was mostly due to a personality conflict, and that mostly with Ed. So just because Ed is a fan of Dave Grohl's drumming, and if you're saying Dave A was maybe better than Grohl, that doesn't equal why Dave was fired.
Absolutely trust, always......
No it's actually from september 93,a couple of weeks after their VMA performance with Neil Young.
Oh yeah that made me remember when music was played with real instruments :).
You're right, good call my friend.
He's similar to Grohl but a bit more inventive IMO. I know Eddie's a fan of Grohl but yet fires Abbruzzese. Senseless. But, Cameron came in to save the band!
I'm a huge Eddie fan but I don't get his alleged problem with Dave A either personally or professionally. I mean really what did Dave do? He did Modern Drummer! Big deal!! The other guys were doing interviews for guitarist magazines. Even Matt Cameron himself did Modern Drummer after joining PJ... And, I don't buy into the "Dave was too much of a rock star.." I mean come on, he wasn't even one-tenth of the "Rock Star" Andy Wood was and Stone, Jeff, and later Eddie loved & respected him. RIP Andy
@grunge2009 -- unfortunately I don't know that. My best guess was this interview took place in early 1994. If that's wrong, I'm inclined to think it's otherwise maybe sometime late 1993.
1:56 lol, love Eddie
Carrie3840 Seems like he’s acting there. Coming from a big fan.
Its from August of 94 right after they fired Dave. Listen to what Ed says about people knowing what the band looks like "and then things change".
I love PJ, one of my favorite bands, but they should shut the fuck up about being a martyr to fame. Like do something else than, or don't sign a record deal with a major label...I don't hear them complaining about the money though.
Sorry for my shitty word putting my buttons are pretty shitty trying to get them fixed
was this interview before or after cobain's death?
post this...mmmmmm
1:49... :')
bullshit, Dave Abruzzese has a completely different style of drumming
There drummer in this video I think is trying to do his best Dave Grohl impression.
I hope you're kidding about that...
You know i never understood the strange turn pearl jam made after ten musically never really did and eddie looked so damaged or if he was going threw something in 93 i dont know i mean i love eddie and jeff, stone, mccready and the guys but i just never u derstood that transision i dont know if they didnt wamt to be apart of the scene and make music of it or i dont know i mean every song on vs is fuckin good i mean godamn they are but the cange is odd then from vs to vitalogy? Vitalogy only teally had about 3 good songs
There was a tension in the band. In Single Theory video you can see if Stone was pissed with Eddie because of something.
it had like 7 good songs
***** by the time vitalogy had come out, there were already sick of the recording companies, the fans, everyone. they were put on a sort of pedestal so rapidly and it messed with there heads. it all happened with in a couple of years, and they were being put out there too much, and they didnt like it. i think they felt exposed, and they felt like they were just being pushed into this image that they didnt want to be. they felt like people liked them just because it was the cool thing to do, or because since they were popular. they felt that fans didnt really appreciate the music, the art behind it, they just liked them just because. they were pushed into a lot of uncomfortable situations, and so vitalogy was a way of sort of 'rebelling'. it was a more aggressive album, and it was their own thing, not the 'grune; sound everyone was expecting it to sound like. they made it different intentionally. it was influenced by a lot of internal struggle, and one of its messages its that the band and its music are unique, and they dont want to become something that they were forced into and would despise just because of the fans and recording companies... hope that made sense. vitalogy is an amazing album, its in my top favorite from them. i think those that dislike it arent really getting the point... they arent hearing the real message, they were just expecting more radio hit type songs. the flashy, catchy, no meaning songs. people dont actually sit down and listen to what the music is trying to tell you anymore..
Vitalogy is a terrible album. It's not a real piece of work, really messy.
Jim Clawley Eddie actually had the perfect voice in Ten
I get confuse on hurrricane,,, rockstars look a lot as...
And..... Om lot into production, names, or but into,,,,, pirat, weinstein scenario
Liberal hypocrites
The Dude 🖕
You voted biden?💀
As soon as they fired Dave. PJ were dead in the water musically.
I think you mean Dave was dead musically after Ed had Stone fire Dave. Pearl Jam is still going strong today. Dave on the other hand wishes it was 1993 when he last worked.
