Lovely work. I too have a strong pull towards native British timbers and a more appropriate use for them. I also agree with your comments regarding woodland management. Too many people fail to understand that in order to get light to the forest floor its frequently the correct decision to thin a stand. That's not hurting trees, its helping the forest. There is a good deal of ignorance about with respect to forest management.
I think you are a great craftsman. Your imagination is to be admired. I agree with the people about cutting the GRANDFATHER tree is not good, but for reasons of health of the tree and safety of the surroundings, it is sometimes a required thing. When you make furniture that will last like this is a tribute to the LIFE of that tree.Keep up the great work and thanks for the ideas.
burl is a unique part of wood most people that does arts and crafts can appreciate it the most.
This is amazing, I love the solid benches
that Chestnut bench is awesome !
I agree with you, two month ago we've had here, in the north of France, a short but very violent storm and a lot of trees fell or have been seriously damaged so they become dangerous. My neighbour lost 40 poplar that he planted 30 years ago and it was really painful for him.
The best we can do is to use these trees to make beautiful things certainly not to put it in fire.
And I really like some of the furnitures you made.
This furniture is awesome! Beautiful work!!
solid sweet chestnut seat was really great for me.
thanks, many people know that great jobs are not so expensive, all its very cheap, and simply great for decoration and use.
Great work!
I too love the Grandberg Mill, I'm however designing my own mill, aluminum and steel, making a bracket for the saw to slide down a rail. Rail to be positioned at 1/2 increments. I too like making irregular furniture. But you've inspired me to do more. I've never sold furniture because I haven't completed enough for my own home yet..........have a full time job and too many hobbies. But wood is fun and milling residential wood is very environmentally responsible.
The background music to this was beautiful.
Brother... subscribed! This is real green wood work! Creation from disaster!
!! amazing work, and idea's !!
Excellent work, and very reasonable prices too.
nice work
Beautify work! of art!
looks good keep up the good work. I am making a wooden bench right now I just hope it doesn't crack in a couple of years
Most of the trees in back yards of South Carolina, USA are burnt for firewood.
Some is used for lumber, but with the vast tree farms here, only small lumber yards use urban trees. We have GrandFather trees in protected forest in every state, all 52 states.
I have 10 acres of southern pines on what was farm land 20 years ago.
I Like Your Work.
love it great work!!! u should make a bath tub !!!! it would be epic!!!
AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!
Those prices are cheap. But I'm not sure how to convert them to American bucks. These are some awesome builds.
1:02 very nice!
Alaskanmilluk, check out the Cylinder Mill. It's a new tool that I think would go well with some of your creations. Your work is very creative and you don't skimp on the finish. Nice.
Wow amazing furniture and very under priced some of those pieces would sell for and into the tens of thousands of Dollars here!
I agree seems underpriced
Dejan Prokic agree, there is not one piece that would sell for less than $1000 here in Southern Ontario - those one piece benches would see $6-10k
+Dejan Prokic underpriced for UK also, a standard Europen oak table and 6 chairs will cost you £2k so a bespoke one with character that should be your starting point.
Amazing. Can you please tell me what apparatus you are using with the ladder to cut that tree. its 27 seconds in the video. Thanks!
beautiful, tried doing somthing simmilar years ago , termites wouldnt eat it lol
im just starting out making more rustic stuff and carving spoons ect i hope to produce things like this one day.. some of the trees that fall near me are huge and they just get chopped up if they are in the way of a path or w/e at the moment im just finding small seat sized cut offs no totem sized bits yet but im hoping to catch the surgeons next time they are around and get them to cut me some larger pieces
Great benches! Do you carve the solid log benches from seasoned logs, or can you do that with fresh wood?
inspiring... thank you ..... time to break out the stihl
Herrliche Arbeiten und Ideen weiter so.
Incredible work, the prices are great, but you could make the solid wood items more expensive to support the low prices of the rest
another question, how many passes can your saw make before you have to resharpen your chain?
Seems like a lot of work.
you just earned a sub
im interested in the one piece beech seat, i live in antarctica , do you guys do free shipping?
I need to get in this business
One question, what it the make/model etc of the Alaskan style chainsaw mill you use to rip boards out of a log? Many thanks in advance :-)
what do you use for a finish. looks like tung oil or something
Im curious why the first bench costed so much more than the rest, is there a story behind it or were you just lucky at an auction?
im selling termites=P..joke..nice bro..i love those designs
those htat say they are something, then contradict themselves s usually are not what they say they are. your work sir, ios priced FAR too low. these are works of art. this is taking recycling to a whole new level . I wish you shipped to the us. this is absolutely stunning. gives a whole new meaning to custom Eh?
Take the figures and divide by 1.5?
Your work is amazing. I want to make a bench out of a large tree that was just taken down ( about 8ft long by about 2 1/2ft wide). How do you go about finishing the wood to ensure it's gorgeous colors remain as long as possible?
If outside you can use spar urethane finish. Inside you have lots of options.
I agree, to high for my pockets, but if you can afford it & want it, you should buy it. Cheaper than smokes & ale for ten years, just what you want to spend your money on.
hahaha 1:35 i wouldn't put that thing above your head where you sleep, you'll wake up on another planet!
Solid sweet chestnut... Is it sold? Shipping... to your nearest port or to the LA shipping port is how much?
I wouldhave liked to seen more but your price tags covered most of the frame.

Can you come to our house? We had a big tree fall on our property. So we thought lets make stuff out of it. Hideous creations have been made. It is such a shame. The tree is huge our skills are small. Free food free lodging, are you up for it.
Your probably right.
that is what the hole is for :)
Sorry to be pedantic, but somebody has to ask, since when have there been 52 states? are you counting Canada and Mexico? or South Korea and Israel perhaps. We love you really!
I approve of responsible tree felling; particularly if the tree ends up as beautiful furniture like this instead of ending up as firewood or plywood
Everything but the wall hanging was priced too cheeply. Excellent work.
beautiful, really nice work but i definitely would not want to be the guy delivering or moving these pieces
Over here there is growing trend of growing artificial forests specialy for harvesting and i think that is good solution. IM not talking small treas but age ready for harvesting around 80 years. With treas of such age you can do anything and if you want to make a huge bench for god sake you can also use glue not take down 500 year old trea. Pristine forests should be left alone. And no offence but it dosnt take huge craftsmehsip to chainsaw out shape form one piece.
Nice, I think you’re too cheap!!! Definitely worth more than you charge.
Im carpenter but i dont aprove of taking down huge treas like that ......
Looks heavy.
I have removed the other comment. However I would say that your opinion is not valid. I use trees that would otherwise have been firewood. They have already fallen or were due to be felled for other reasons. Also saying 'I don't approve of taking down huge trees like that....' is too broad a statement. Taking a tree down depends upon a large number of factors which you need to be aware of before you can judge whether it is right or wrong.
killing the Grand Father trees in an Old Gowth Forrest is kinda like killing a part of history. if it falls on its own then cut it up. other wise leave it alone. you should however cut the young trees down around the Grand Father Tree to let it have room to grow even further.
YOU NEED TO PRICE YOUR WORK HIGHER. IT IS TOO LOW. AND TRY TO FIND SOME MODERN OR INDUSTRIAL DESIGNS TO INCORPORATE INTO YOUR FURNITURE.
Wish you listed American prices so I could understand how much your ripping people off lol.
you are selling that stuff way to cheap. you would spend more at ikea on chip board shit
