Well I learned something new today. I had no idea you could hook 2 chainsaws to a single bar on a chainsaw mill. Perhaps you should checkout the clip on slabber for your Peterson sawmill.

Thanks yes - the Peterson slabber would be ideal but it is thousands of £! So cheaper to actually get the Alaskan set up with x2 saws and you can then use these for other purposes as well.

+bwillan The trouble is the cost of the Peterson slabber is proibitive - also even if it was not super expensive you waste a fair bit of time switching from the circular saw to the slabber. With this method you can use the circular saw then quickly slab a few planks then back to the circular saw. It'll be faster, will save you money and you have a full mobile set up to boot!

Very interesting video. I already have one of your GB 36" lo pro bars and a husky 181 but should receive a husky 2101xp next week, did not realise before, this that I might be able to run them as a double saw setup! (Funds dependant)

Hi, just quick question.. i already have 150cm milling kit with ms880 and wanna buy 270cm double ended with new ms881.. when we milling, both has to push throttle or just on one chainsaw? Thx for answer

The idea that two saws are better than one on an alaskan -style mill seems to be somewhat controversial.
Some say it doesn't work at all.. others that the rpm must be synchronized.. others yet that its the way to go.
Do you guys have any data on differences in the speed of cut etc?

+Muskoka Strong Hi - I have no technical data but believe me it works and it is fast. I have tried with x4 different set ups now and with unmatching powerheads and each set up worked well. Those that disagree have not set up their equipment correctly ;)

+alaskanmilluk Thanks for the reply and all your great videos!
Decided to start with a single 880.. should be adequate to get me through a few logs.
Will slap another one when I'm ready to man up! 😉
