Gotham Knights Video Essay: They Want You To Keep Playing

- Gotham Knights, developed by WB Games Montreal, was set to usher in a new gaming experience within the DC Universe. But as the months leading up to its release went on, it became more evident that the experience was meant to keep a player attached to the controller rather than feel like a cohesive superhero title, like the often-touted Arkham games were.

I expected some modest feedback but not as much as THIS. THANK YOU all who have watched, liked or disliked, commented and shared your thoughts and insights below! I'm getting some serious inspiration to do another video game essay and I'm slightly leaning toward Arkham Asylum. Stay tuned!!!
I gotta push back here a bit. You say you played for 30hrs but that doesn't mean it's good. That's like saying I took this girl on 30 dates with no plans or motives. Men don't waste time without a reward🧐
I don`t play 30 fps games on ps5! So i don`t stay playing. I even won`t play. Its a lazy argument. If you see ps5 games from sony, they are top down improved for the console. Graphics, even with RT only seen on the best PC hardware, and they don`t want to put time and effort into developing for the hardware. So i don`t put my time and money into companies who don`t want to do it.
Dew it!
Do it just do it better then everyone else you go it
Bruce calling Dick his son in the audio files but skipping Jason and Tim. Or the term 'Brother' being completely left out between any interaction between the boys.
Thanks dc, i hate it
Thank you! The family dynamic just wasn't there, they felt like co-workers.
@@HandsomeMartyrdom all i could think was during that scene with Talia on the rooftops when they talk bout the pit and she brings up the pit bringing Jason back. Like jesus, that is the perfect time to drop a 'brother' ref for Tim or Dick. Buttt NooooOoo. That, and *omg* did they miss easy feels territory to have Dick canonically tell Jason about that time he beat the joker to death with his bare hands after he mocked Jasons death during last laugh. Like that werid scene of Dick chilling with Jason on the rooftops would have been perfect for that! Arghhhh!
Brothers don’t call each other that in real life. That would sound really forced.
@@AS-ri1mb as a sister that calls and is called sister. I call bullshit!
@@jim-bob3093 sorry but your family are NPCs.
The difference with reaching a high hour count in Arkham is that you will eventually learn various methods to force the game to look more grounded, much more grounded than Gotham Knights. The horizontal progression allows you to mimic the style of any Batman you see fit, or create your own. The challenge maps included the perfect systems to push you to improve through repetition instead of pulling you into a daunting amount of content meant to be played only once
On PC you could push that even further with Animation swapping.
The ONLY reason I got this game was cause of Red Hood. In Arkham Knight he was fun to play as but he didn’t have a HUGE variety of attacks and he felt like the least worked on DLC character
To be Fair if you build him correctly his guns do so much damage he 1 taps people
Same. I personally adore Red Hood and was just happy to have more media with him in it
This he was so much fun in the Arkham knight but in this he was as large as a ninja turtle and as slow as an Oldman with a cane. He somehow still manages to be the one I play the most but I like the others better
Cakes of The Year Award goes to Gotham Knights. Batgirl carried the whole game man.
He looked horrible since the previews. From design perspective alone.
After replaying Arkham Origins this past Christmas, I did notice how the style of writing for characters and the dialogue was better in that game as compared to Gotham Knights. The way they focused on character relationships was there in Origins with Bruce and Alfred, but it wasn’t so forced and corny like it is with the Gotham Knight characters. The way villains were handled is just about the same with probably some exception to Talia and Freeze. Freeze was presented better in his dlc for Origins, but I think they nailed Clayface. He felt as menacing as Bane did for Origins.
Did anyone notice the characters are basically the ninja turtles?
Even their personas and colors match.
Alfred is like a Splinter, but so is Batman.
So weird.
Red Hood AKA Raphael
Like the power rangers too lol
Nightwing leads, Batgirl does machiiiines! Red Hood's cool but crude, Robin is a party dude!
@@roosterjackson7258 good stuff
Alfred is apiril
Gotta love how game devs get away with making lack luster triple A products that only passes for a “Game” on a surface level.
I can't be the only 1 that loves this game
I'm right there with you, actually really fun
Dude, I love it also....Jist got it recently
@Al M enjoy it and really take your time exploring brother the endgame became boring fast but the story was amazing
dude i cannot believe i just found ur channel after all these years. i used to watch your toy reviews back when you were blackspiderdavid. you inspired me to pick up a camera and now here you are. i managed to become a freelance videographer with a decent list of clientele thanks to you. keep goin man!
Holy shit! Glad to see you stop by again and of your new direction with content creation. I mean, that's what happened with me after watching DCompose's old videos. Keep going at it!
@@DarkspiderDavid91 ofc! I love doing it. Thanks for everything
Nightwing has glidewings built into his suit....whyyyyyy did they give him that glider bullshit
Fortnite glider 😂 I knew as soon as I seen the glider and red hood jumping on soul clouds this game was gonna be ass
I really think people blew out of proportion on how "bad" this game was just because it is not arkham, sure it's not great but its Okay I dont think all the hate was warranted
Yea it’s actually not that bad
I agree.
I love the game. However I am burned out. Awaiting the next update
Lol no they didn't. It had nothing to do with arkham, it was simply flawed. Concepts the game pushed simply didn't make sense or work. The style of the game is sloppy and poor and the game is all around lazy.
@@kordellswoffer1520 Oh, then Spider Man and God of War and every other RPG follow right after, is it? It's not lazy and i'm confident in my words because most people can't play this game for 💩. They just suck and that serves them as an Excuse to call the game bad
I paid 100 dollars for the best version of the game, best money I’ve spent in a while, I 100% the game got all achievements and hope it gets DLC
I thought the knighthood stuff would have been something substantial aswell. Even more so after seeing a transmog called that lmao. I managed to get knighthood for all of my characters in 3 alone. Your review is quite accurate. I picked it up on a holiday sale and I don't believe I would have paid more than I did. I enjoyed it enough but that's about it
I picked up the game on sale and I’m really enjoying it so far. Gotham is fun to explore, characters are interesting, and the main storyline really has me interested and performance isn’t as bad as people say. Honestly my biggest complaint is the camera during combat, I wish you could actually lock on to an enemy similar to Arkham games. If your someone who’s been interested in the game I’d recommend picking it up on sale now. (I’m playing on Xbox series S)
You werent able to lock on in Arkham at all
@@teknyon just looked at gameplay your totally right! I guess the camera perspective just felt better with Arkham games during combat. Been a while since I played an Arkham game.
this game is perfect to me, what i always wanted since DCUO, since Arkham games wouldn't let me play anyone but batman. I hope it gets tons of DLC. it deserves it. It's sad the combat doesn't make sense for people just starting out, but if the stuck with it, it all makes sense by end game. You have more abilities than 2-3 warframes combined! The combat is not sluggish you just need to upgrade your skills and actually use the gear. There's stats that improve everything but you aren't even talking about some base combat moves when you talked about them which says you didn't understand the combat system fully. Trust me stick with one character and get to 40 and look at the stats on the gear that aren't the numbers but the descriptions for what they do and actually use the trigger buttons too.
Yes! the suit customization and co-op brings me back to the dcuo days, not only is the combat fresh with different elemental abilities and momentum abilities the stealth works surprisingly well too and even better with a friend, I'll admit the elemental abilities threw me off at first but after playing threw the game and fighting all the different types of enemies I had a lot of fun I really hope they keep adding additional content to the game including new characters if that is possible
Arkham origins had 8 player online I played a lot
I just got the game for 35 dollars, if sales are that dismal I doubt we see any meaningful dlc. Suicide squad seems to be the focus now.
2-3 Warframes? You referring to the game where you can clear out legions of enemies that you aren’t even in the same room with?
I want to be the bat
There was no way people were gonna like this on launch. It's always going to be in the shadow of the Arkham games, which everyone keeps comparing it to. I don't think it's a bad game. It's a game I've been asking for in that it's a middling release. Not a blockbuster masterpiece, but it's not a complete shit show. It's middle of the road junk food which works exactly how it's supposed to. When it comes to the writing, I'd say ease up on it because from my research, Paul Dini was nowhere to be found when it came to the writing of the game. Arkham had the man who defined Batman for the last two decades, so writing was not gonna be anywhere near as good as Arkham. Then the gameplay, they took a chance to change it up. They didn't want it to be, Arkham but without Batman because Arkham is Batman's game and remember, these guys did Arkham Origins previously. They didn't really stick the landing with that one, why would this be different? I don't think it's a bad game, it's enjoyable in a different way. Good vid fam!
Great take on the game. I was initially hesitant to get it based on critical review but bit the bullet and have really come to enjoy a lot of aspects of the game. The co-op has got to be one of its best features and my brother in law and I have been playing it non-stop for the past week
It's good COOP with 2 players NOT SOLO. Understand that, and you will enjoy the game.
The vast majority of games are lucky to be mediocre. Everyone wants to be wowed and are genuinely annoyed when they’re not. Critics in particular have become so jaded they need a new profession because I, in particular, CANNOT listen to them. Especially since about half of the games they rave about don’t do it for me.
Arkham Origins was a better game than both Arkham Knight and Gotham Knights. And I honestly find Paul Dini overrated these days. He has some good comics here and there, but Arkham City was pretty badly written and the Marvel cartoons he worked on? Yeah.
@@GamerSlyRatchet1 Arkham Knight was a beautiful disaster
I was actually hyping & loving the game but after everything to now. I recently realised the game suffers.
From a combat system that at the very least should of made combos like Avengers if they were going the route of light & heavy attacks.
To Endgame activities that rivalled past games of superhero media with content.
That equals to a fun experience that will get less & less the more you play it. Even if you aren’t aware of it
I don't understand this trend where you buy a guy but they still want you to keep playing live service games.
They have your money, mission accomplished. They want more money, instead of unlocking suits just make all the suits paid DLC. If they really care, put out some story DLC in the future.
They blame the rising budgets of games. They have to find a way to get more money out of you.
So they use micro transactions, exp boosters, loot boxes, etc...
@@gtylerbrown2 I never played Gotham Knights and it's been a hot minute since I saw this video so I don't remember everything.
But did this game had micro transactions and what not? I don't remember that being mentioned. So, that's the part that confuses me. They're not getting anymore money off of us by pouring more hours into this game. They got their 60 dollars. They're not doing extra charges, it's just spending more time. I don't get it.
@@Garinovitch The game was supposed to be a live service game but after the failure of the Avengers game they pulled that part out, problem is the gameplay loop is still pretty much a live service game one, with the grinding and boringness.
Can't believe they wasted Court of Owls video game debut to a 4 Robins video game. I always wanted Court of Owls in Arkhamverse, they shouldn't end it in just a Trilogy, they managed to do a Batmobile gameplay so the 4th Arkham should be Batman using his mech/armored suit.
It’s just boring combat isn’t fun story’s just worth watching on UA-cam getting round the city is a chore I just don’t enjoy the game
I barely got through the main story. I was hyped initially. But then I barely got through it. I definitely won't be playing more of it.
I had a great time with this. Loved that I got to play a game as Batgirl and Red Hood. Did pretty much everything in the game, but only got about half way through NG+ before I fell off of it.
You're completely missin the fact the combat system is rhythm based, if you dont press attack at the end of your previous attack animation, yes, you will never do cool combos. Its weird how so many people missed the base concept of the combat in this. Not to say this is an amazing game but I played on PC at 50 to 60 fps, and combat felt fine to very good depending on the situation. The biggest problem of the game is how FEW villains they have portrayed there. It feels like they wrap the story so quick and skip a lot of storybeats just cause they didnt have the time
I'm glad Gotham Shites tanked. You can watch 2 mins of this game and smell the swamp ass
I really appreciated your take on this. I do disagree slightly; I think when you start to "master" the combat, the timing and types of styles you have to use with each hero, I prefer this combat over Arkham. Just felt a little better once you get the timing right, I know that's a hot take though lol great video!
Nah, I understand. As someone who’s playing the game, I realized it’s kinda fun to analyze the different enemy types, their weaknesses and the fun takedowns and abilities during combat. It’s not perfect by any means but it is sorta fun when you get used to it.
I want to tell you Arkham combat is better but I have that game installed and I'm not coming back to play it, but I missed the mechanic of hiding and grab criminals while I'm hiding from the corner, and yes I prefer this combat
I agree too 👍🏽
This game us underrated in my opinion
This is an extremely hot take. I fully disagree but I think that’s up to the design of the game and not the combat itself. Arkham had fantastic combat not only because of the mechanics but also because of their enemy design and arena design. Rocksteady was very smart as to how they paced combat throughout the games, what types of enemies you fought combined with when you fight them is just as important as the mechanics in the combat. Gotham Knights at least as far as I’ve played, has none of the smart enemy design or arena design that the Arkham games have so I just feel nothing most of the time I’m fighting.
I 100% agree. And I think more people agree with you than I think.
I’ll put it this way
I like Gotham knights for the combat and exploration
I liked Arkham for Batman and doing Batman things
Arkham literally bores me from how easy it is
I play both on the absolute hardest difficulty
You poor soul lol anybody who waited on Knight Hood till the end of the game to finally realize you can glide. I feel bad for. I don't get that decision, why anybody on the development team thought that was a good idea to lock that feature and then sort of treat it like a side quest thing. I'm glad I tackled it early, because even with the bike that was an immediate thing, I hated about the game was the traveling around the map and wonder why the hell batgirl couldn't glide. The Glide was still a bit slow frankly but was enough to make do, but I don't think I would have finished the game if all i had was the zipline and crappy bike.
The entire game seems to be made as a live service game that got the live service part cut, that definitelly explains the grinding gameplay and the menu design. lol
As fun as the game can be at times, it just comes across as an attempt to salvage what was originally going to be a live service game like Avengers. When that game ended up doing poorly WB Montreal scrapped the live service aspect and just released the game anyway.
Everyone keeps comparing it to Arkham and they miss the point. It’s not trying to be imitate or remotely even try to be Arkham this is it’s own game that’s trying something new. Is it perfect no. But it’s a fun game that keeps you busy for a little bit. I thoroughly enjoyed the game alot
well said!
I think the issue allot of people have is that they don't want a game to "keep them busy." Games are for fun, not for work and being busy, and that seems to be a major generational disconnect in gamers moving into this newer generation.
And games aren’t meant to just keep you busy, they’re meant to engage you, create fun and interesting situations or just pull you in.
And that’s why games are becoming trash more and more in the AAA space, because the bar has been reduced to @it keeps ya busy”
@@stealthbrawler or people just want to come home and kick people on the face on a video game. Which this lets you it’s no 10/10 but it’s fun and it’s definitely a decent game
@@tristannix3644 casual games that are still interesting exist. Just pop dishonoured in the easiest difficulty and go in a slaughter or yknow, replay one of the damn Arkham games if you’re looking for a casual time.
I bought this game $44 usd and it felt great at that price point.. Good video and while I enjoyed Gotham Knights more I can't disagree with your points.. With that said I wish more essays of Gotham Knights brought up co-op.
Also if i can recommend a game to play I highly recommend Midnight Sun's, I thought it was excellent
Same and same, Gotham knights is a lor of fun, and Mindight suns was fantastic.
I bought the game recently and did not enjoy it all that much once I completed it, left me really disappointed considering this is the same studio behind Arkham origins. And once I saw the workbench to craft gear, I immediately had ptsd flashbacks from Avengers lol
you’re video honestly perfectly summarized how I feel about the game. Great Video!
The studio behind arkham origins was the first hint that this game would not do well.
the studio behind the other arkham games is the one making the new Suicide Squad game, right? Or am I mistaken
@@basilciccone1679 you are correct. That's why I am excited to play that game.
@@oscaraburto3341 Maybe WB Montreal should’ve stuck to coping rocksteady and not making their own original game :/, cause clearly the end result will be dull
Calling the court of owls one of batmans more famous parts of his rogue gallery is extremely lost on me. That story alone is very mixed in the fandom and its still generally new, and it is most definitely not a pillar of batmans rogues gallery...it was just one story line, have they when been brought back since?
Scott Snyder's run is universally loved and critically acclaimed, in big part because of the Court of Owls.
Certainly not the most disappointing game of the year (That’d be The Callisto Protocol) but one that, having Platinumed it, I can’t see myself rushing back to. Despite the big 30fps outcry I felt that wasn’t really an issue and visually the game was above average and on occasions rather awesome. But as you progressed the cracks began to show including the fact that the plot was rather naff, the Court of Owls kinda wasted and the crippling repetitiveness of the cut and paste crimes more of a chore. Reaching Knighthood did little to elevate proceedings and the four “boss fights” descended into frantic button mashing boredom where at least Arkham’s free flow had a degree of balletic choreography and rhythm. Heroic Assault just felt like padding and grinding through all floors with yet more cut and paste scenarios made the 30 floors feel like a whole lot more.
Yet, as I said, I didn’t hate it but boy, it could have been so so much better. The foundations were certainly there for a solid open world beat ‘em up but the lack of variety and, sadly, Batman cast a very heavy shadow over the finished product. I mentioned The Callisto Protocol initially and whilst it was better than that both games had that “unfinished” feel to them as if someone had come up with a great idea but got sidetracked along the way and released the game before beefing it up with creative, innovative touches, variety and that special something that leaves you knowing you’ve just played a damn good game …
still wish they had used cassandra cain over barbra gordon for batgirl
This game is a masterpiece of average.
I agree the game could be better but it isn't bad by any means. Fun to play, heroic assault was ok, but it's a good start to future games similar to it.
I play co op with my kids all the time. Fun game!
I got GK the day it came out, and played it frequently for a while. Then Marvel: Midnight Suns came out. I haven't finished GK, but I'm about to finish MS for the 2nd time, and will probably do a 3rd playthrough.
11:50 it's ironic because I play the Arkham games to this day for the combat and stealth alone. Could barely play 5 hours of Gotham Knights before I deleted it.
One thing I really dislike is when I like something like Batman or Geralt from Witcher or even Kratos, these companies feel the best route is to take those characters away to replace with one's that few people wanted. I like Superman and Batman and could care less about the bat-kids and super-children. Avengers did that too. Gave us two lame female characters and Black Panther and the Avengers felt like older brothers. Its like "Fans love this so lets remove what they love!"
I'm glad that they did this. I've always liked the Batfamily more than Batman, and there isn't really anything where the other Batfamily members are the focus. Batman's already had multiple games. He doesn't need more right now.
If they wanted people to keep playing the game, they shouldve made the game GOOD
Facts, I still play Arkham knight since 2015 and that’s cause it’s made really well, looks very good, and plays so smooth
I love the game
Welp
I don't mind any of the changes
I never expected this to play like an Arkham game to begin with
In fact it delivered exactly what i wanted for a while
A co-op bat/batfamily game
And if you think this grind is bad
Just get the real ending in Arkham Knight xD
I feel that as far as gameplay loop goes they tried doing what borderlands did, but worse, where you are meant to try and combine the skills you take, with the equipment you use to eventually make insane dungeons (EG the Heros Assult) that are difficult to be fun. But they failed at it, because Borderlands already does that, with their loot system, and the raids.
The gameplay does not make you want to come back and play, it's so clunky and you feel really weak or way to strong it's not a good feeling. You feel heavy, and it is a HUGE oversight not having a normal jump button, I cant tell you how many times I've wanted to jump down from a perch behind people but get shot to a perch point in front of them and my whole plan gets fucked.
keep calling Arkham as the "Original game" makes your points totally worthless
They should've made game about Barbara's hips. Hot damn
The game's on sale for me on the playstation store now and I really appreciate these kinds of deep dives. Especially where you highlight Barbara's VA being terrible as well as locking the DAMN PROMISED traversal options on gameplay videos BY THE DEVS behind busy work. I was gonna get the game for the suits and exploration but damn does this video helped a lot now. What sucks is that the devs made one of my fav Arkham games in terms of the story and character interactions especially rewriting Bane and making Deathstroke feel dangerous. what a damn letdown
They do a really poor job explaining that enemy groups have elemental weaknesses.
Hands down one of the best videos about GK on UA-cam. Great work!
I'm only halfway through, but everyone says Red Hood is slow, but are you not using his Ranged Attack 'Perfect combo' moves? Where his pistols fire upwards of 5 shots each with one button press? You almost never have to use melee as Hood, until they get low on HP and then you can grab. Idk. I agree with the video so far, it's fine. Lackluster and everything, but that always bugs me when I see that criticism at Hood.
They tell u the travel being locked behind the knighthood immediately, all u had to do was read the screen
I disagree about the combat. For me the combat is very fun and engaging. Granted I'm playing two player with my brother so we are always talking and coordinating. The loot system is also simple and enjoyable. I will also say I did not like the combat of the Arkham series which is why I generally avoided it. Great video though 👍
It is Batmans death not supposed death. Talia just brought him back, killed and brought him back multiple times to drive him insane so he would join the League. Just something you either got wrong or worded very poorly.
If they upgraded knighthood id enjoy this game more.
I do like this game- wish the co op wasnt just so... hidden. Nobody ever joins me and when i join people they didnt wanna play co op in the first place and they leave.
Its such a shame man the potential here was freaking huge...
Welcome to modern day gaming
The ending with “dead Bruce Wayne” was extremely easy to see. They tried to promote it so much as if he’s just dead the whole time then to be like “he’s not really dead guys lol but now he’s dead”
Still Crazy to me how amazing this game looked in its very first preview, in comparison to its actual gameplay which looks cheap.
Gotham Knights is just sad to talk about. On one hand, the Bat-family stuff feels so great, and the prospect of a Gotham story that focuses on Batman's subordinates instead of him is incredibly interesting. On the other, it just fails to leave a significant impact in most gameplay areas. First off, combat is significantly less deep than the Arkham games. In those games, there are plenty of ways to deal with the same encounter, and plenty of different methods for dealing with enemies. You can start with stealth to pick off a few guys, but throughout that endeavor, you could do things like set up an explosive gel trap or use disruptor shots on their guns to make the end fight much easier. In addition, in the midst of combat, you could chain together practically every move and strike seamlessly to constantly keep two steps ahead of every enemy in a hand-to-hand fight. Cape stuns, counters, charge counters, environmental takedowns-- there are so many options mid-combat. In contrast, Gotham Knights takes a much more simplistic approach, which makes the experience much less engaging. For stealth, you have standard silent/ambush takedowns and not much else aside from small things like Nightwing's wingding trap on electric panels. Hand-to-hand isn't much deeper either, with the only options being standard light and heavy attacks, ranged attacks, dodges, and a few unique abilities depending on your character. Fighting in this game is less about staying ahead of your enemies and more just being higher-leveled than them or just having the right gear. On top of that, the game's lack of an engaging open world combined with the generally weak ending makes this game such a disappointment despite all the things it has going for it.
This was an excellent video. I like you ended it on the positives while still covering the criticisms. Also the review was fair without being overly nasty. The title and main point of the video gave an accurate overview of the game.
I loved this game, got it for Christmas and had 0 expectations so maybe that’s why I enjoyed it so much. definitely understood some of your points and I completely understand why people are disappointed. Don’t agree with your knighthood quest comments, that’s not valid just because you didn’t realise what the quest was for, can’t dock any points for that. The Grindy loot based game play isn’t for everyone and I don’t like it in many games but for some reason this game just clicked for me, even as a die hard Arkham fan who’s completed each game 5+ times (even origins). Hoping for DLC but not looking likely at this point unfortunately :(
I don't get your premise - all modern games want you to keep playing. There's an addictive gameplay loop which typically ends in microtransactions, though not in this case. Unsure you made your point.
Imo the reason why I like this game are the side bosses like honestly they’re pretty fun
Some of these opinions are good but sometimes you give out wrong information, for example you said that when you finish the night hood skill tree you get the knight outfit but you really get that by beating the main story, also your combos do get faster you just have to hit perfect strikes to speed the animations up and get cooler looking hit animations
They should have focused on another Batman game, had they done that they would have had a successful release. The art talent was there, the acting was good and the story was on par with a comic book arc.
The clunky animations would have not been there had they focused on one playable character namely Batman. They would have been able to polish out any rough spots with the fighting animations etc since they would have only needed to focus on Batman.
Sure bring on the DLC at a later point to introduce the other characters down the road after release. It had worked in the past and it would have worked again.
Don't know why the leadership behind this game didn't see that the gaming audience was ready for another batman game since it's been over 5 years since Arkham knight. A missed opportunity.
Glad I was able to buy this game on discount. As it is, the game was worth 30 bucks.
I agree that the game was average but I think you were sort of reaching for some kind of overarching theme with the “they want you to keep playing” thing. I think the reality isn’t that the devs intentionally created the grind after deciding there would be no more micro-transactions the way you make it out to be. Rather I think they just failed to make engaging side content which actively bogged down their interesting ideas like day/night cycle where you had to investigate crimes by making the whole process seem like tedious padding to lengthen the game, when it was meant to be innovative and fun side content.
@10:50 -- *Zendaya, is that you?* 🤔
Listening to your review of combat/gameplay and watching what you were doing, honestly you just don’t know how to play the game. Timing is important and to me it looks like you’re just tapping square and circle, the more precise your timing is the faster and more fluid you become, almost to the point where you’re dancing around the bad guys, almost like the spiderman games
There will never be Another game like the Arkham knight
They weren’t lying when they marketed the game as “Be the Batman” not gameplay as Batman will ever be as savage and brutal and addictive to play as in knight. Especially the gliding and grapple traversal it was so damn smooth and satisfying. Played since 2015 day 1 and still going strong
They clearly ran out of ideas for red hoods traversal. I wish they gave him fireflys jetpack or something.
so I 100%-ed this game. got all achievements. then I u installed it, and found out a couple days later that they released DLC with new achievements. I still need to grind those out, but I'm not really looking forward to it.
They should of given each charcater their own vehicles, and make red hood a killer
Batman Arkham series is my 2nd favorite game series behind the Souls/Ring series. I really liked Gotham Knights and i wouldn't mind still playing it but after a platinum run in it there isn't anything left to do and full play throughs with Red Hood and Robin has left me not really wanting to play it again with batgirl who I've been made to dislike and Night wing, who I like but the game made a co-op character and I dont really do co-op, I even soloed the whole dungeon and beat star-o, with Robin. Want me to keep playing? Sure, add something more to do to the game, which wasnt a great game but I for sure got my money's worth out of it.
They want us to keep playing, then give us some Batman DLC. I’ll happily keep playing as Nightwing and Robin and Batgirl for a while, but Gotham just doesn’t feel like Gotham without Batman.
The court of Owls representation really was weak. I was really underwhelmed by it. The talons fell flat and they are supposed to be scary people. Not zombie creatures. Oh well. I still had fun with it.
The Gotham city in Gotham knights feels more like a random city rather than the dark depressing hellhole that is Gotham .
Also reviving batman at the end only to kill him again was stupid. There are two options to fix this.
1 kill batman only at the end of the game and have him gone missing for the rest.
2 when batman gets revived at the end he should stay alive
In the end, the story is stupid because batman dies again , the Court of owls is still free and the league of shadows managed to escape the court's trap and their power is still unfazed. In the end the story of the game is pointless cycle
P.S. The Waffle House Has Found Its New Host
Makes sense that they want me to keep playing, I've already invested over 30 hours in and I got it for christmas and I wasnt really able to play till after new years cause I had to tidy my bedroom so my new xbox could be up there safely
I'm sorry for whoever wasted their money on this.
I really loved the game. I'm a few collectibles away from platinuming it.
The game is incredibly fan ficy with its characterization and story but at least they're not "batman's bitch family" like in arkham
I don’t like the bright colors of this Gotham. Makes it feel too cartoony. In the old Gotham’s, the lighting was realistic. This feels more like a spider man game at night.
I’m still hoping for a joker dlc
In the Gotham Knights world?
@@DarkspiderDavid91 yes I want a dlc with the joker In it since I can’t remember any mention of joker in the game besides when they talk about Jason’s death
It would be interesting to see the state of Joker without batman dead, but I honestly don't have the faith that they'll make it good
@@cloudsdcmultiverse8814 i believe the joker is dead or in jail in this universe
Out of all the pauses to highlight you complained about the Alfred scaring off the thug one? Yeah, the guy thought he had these guys easy, then when they won't back down the guy has to think what's wrong with these guys and is it worth it. There will be a pause.
To be honest with you it was an ok game it’s not better than Arkham knight (if you were thinking it was going to be I don’t know what you were smoking) but it’s not terrible like Fallout 76 I enjoyed it and there are enjoyable things in the game
Edit although the pricing was definitely the low point it should been at 30 dollars, 40 at most
This game is actually really fun despite you not being Batman. Coop is always neat.
My problem is with not knowing if it'll crash when I get on the bike or not this time. Usually I'm fine so long as I don't ride it. Makes traveling a bit more tedious until you unlock all those waypoints.
Decent game though in my opinion.
no standards
If they want me to keep playing they need to add more villains
The dead body in the crate at the crime scene was the same guy very lazy
Glad I wasn't the only one that noticed. lol
"Maybe suicide squad will be good"
Anybody else see that battle pass leak for it today?
....:(
All I want to see is a performance mode added in so I can get more than 30fps on the series x.
Youre very smart, they do want us to keep playing… unlike any other games where they want us to stop. Yeah. Intelligence is your fucking gift,
A lot of your thought on this game reminded my own thoughts when playing Fallout 4. That was a game that was arguably the worst new style Fallout (the Bethesda 1st/3rd person style), but I just can't stop myself from playing when I start and it remain as my favorite Fallout game to actually play.
You'd think they'd just give us Arkham Knight with coop but no.
amazing job on this video man! subbed!
Much appreciated!
Cakes of the year award goes to this game. I came for the bakery man.
I loved this game, I can’t get the hate. I like it a little more gameplay wise than the Arkham games if I’m being honest. I replayed this more than those games.
Dude what about multiplayer and heroic assault?
I literally beat the game and never touched it again. Uninstalled it right after and just haven't had the drive to go back since I beat the story.
Ironically Avengers might outlive both suicide squad and Gotham knights
Wow. This aged horribly in just a day.
I do think this game was bad I wasn’t expecting Arkham with this game I just wasn’t expecting it to be as bad as it was. It had no atmosphere, it didn’t have you invested in the characters and everything about the story was predictable
So 9.99 for some shitty colours and the beyond suits isn’t a micro transaction?
