- In this episode, Patrick and Stuart pick up their amazing wins from a recent online auction in France, and share the items with you in the Château de Colombe grand salon. They also visit a large brocante in Touchay, and share the progress on several other projects from this past week.
Join Patrick and Stuart on their journey to find a neglected, forgotten, or crumbling château in France, and then continue to follow them as they work on its restoration, rénovation, decoration, and furnishing. Along the way, they will also create and share videos on their preparation for having gîtes for guests, and an event venue in their chateau (wedding, birthday, anniversary, organization or club meetings, retreats, etc.).

When you guys announced that part of the reasons this chateau was the one because there was a good vet and an emergency veterinary hospital nearby.... before you checked on human doctors and hospital availability, we knew you were our kind of people!

I have non working clocks too. If you can get to the hands you can set them for special dates like for birthdays and holidays. My clock would have the hands on 1 and 2 for the 12th. I do this for my grandchildren. Just an extra touch for their special day. Continued blessings in all you do.

I love your purchases. They are going to fit very well in your beautiful chateau. The farmhouse looks great and very welcoming for guests. I watch the vlog from Belgium called Castle Ten Berghe. The owner of the castle bought a giant rake like machine that hitches to the back of his golf cart. Every week or two he drives on the gravel drive in circles for a half hour and voila no weeds. Now like you said, this works as maintenance after the hard work is done but it actually looks very peaceful and zen-like raking circular lines in the gravel!!! xx
Hello Stephanie. I wish we’d be at the maintenance stages……. Especially with the gravel. We try to make the farmhouse welcoming and there will be rehab projects this winter. The bathroom will be gutted and in a year or so, we would like to develop the attic into bed and bathrooms. Well that’s the idea. 🤪.

Had to jump down about 1 metre to the ground outside to access my car and the bathroom. 🥺 Lived with a fridge and microwave in the dining room for months and months. Still well worth it! Thank you very much Ralph! Agreed, the chandelier is amazing. And you are right, often items are not what they have seemed. I am glad it shows, that we made the right decisions. We are happy and love our life. It is sometimes scary. The farmhouse has to be presentable by September. First guests from the UK are arriving and I am petrified they hate it. That’s me. 🤪. Half is painted already. Starting in January, we will remodel the entire bathroom and start the future upstairs access and volunteer living quarters. I shut up now. 😘🤣😘

Think we're kindred spirits, the very first "antique" I purchased with my allowance was a bakelite musical clock that i still have Purchased it when I was 10. Been a while, yet it still plays fur Elise perfectly. i too collect clocks also glass ware and many other things.

The living room set will be most useful and as you said, can be redone later. I love the clocks! The chandelier is lovely! (There is no point in having a chateau without chandeliers!) I bet you can find replacement crystals, with your eagle eyes and a little time. (Baccarat would likely cut you new ones, if you wanted to spend the $$$! LOL!)
Hi there my dear Larry. Chandelier first: I have found the missing crystals. They are called Austrian crystals. Who knew? Now, I am sooooo happy that we can make you and other people laugh. It was an exhausting day. I didn’t think I’d be laughing that much. Since we got a quote for window replacement for about 200,000 euro, no Baccarat cutting for us. 😳🤪😳😂😂😂😂.

I know exactly what you mean about customers charging by you to buy nothing. I got laughing envisioning some little French lady pushing by you Patrick - all 6ft 5" what was she thinking LOL 😂 I love all your purchases! The chandelier is stunning. Each time you go looking for antiques ask vendors if they have loose crystals to purchase - it's amazing how many you may find that work with your chandelier. I can't wait to see the makeover in the rooms for guests. You have been busy boys!

I’ve used straight white vinegar via pump sprayer for killing weeds for years with excellent results. Two applications are necessary. And no fire risk or petroleum fumes.
We have used vinegar for years too. Right excellent results! Unfortunately our build up is from about 15 years of neglect and we are burning off the residue to get the gravel re established. However, in general you are totally right. Thank you

Kitchen ideas:
More drawers than cupboards for lowers (I don’t have any lower cupboards & love it! So much easier to find stuff that would migrate to hard to reach corners in cupboards.)
Wherever you put in an outlet, make it a double! (The only place I have to switch out cords constantly is the one place the electrician decided I didn’t really mean everywhere!)
- I even had them (double outlets) put in around the peninsula & our kids love that they’re not trying to find outlets on the floor when they need to recharge when they come over!
Yes, yes and yes. We had all drawers in the last kitchen that we designed. For pots, porcelain, mugs and supplies. Tons of outlets, we also had drawers in the pantry cabinets….. huge advantage. Thank you Karena no I wholeheartedly agree with you. Hugs. 💗🥰💗
