Fun Fact: The Mackinac State Park portion of the Island used to be a National Park! In fact, Mackinac National Park was the second oldest National Park, with the first being Yellowstone!
It was a National Park from 1875 to 1895, and covered 821 acres of the Island with 103 acres belonging to the Fort and the rest was privately owned.

My son (now 35 yrs old) did that eight mile loop on a bike with training wheels when he was 4 yrs old! It took a lot of breaks and coaxing and a lot more time than it should have, but he did it! lol, I don't know what we were thinking when we decided to do that lol

A day trip to Mackinac Island is so much fun. If you ever get the chance, stay a couple of nights. Completely different vibe in the evening and morning. The Pink Pony (the outdoor bar is below the restaurant) in the evening is the place to be. The rum runners be flowing! Many hotel options with various price points. I like Mission Point.
I do a solo seven mile hike when my wife and I visit. I start by hiking up the bluff near Mission Point, then head to arch rock. From there, go to skull cave. Then past the Cemeteries and on to Fort Holmes. Fort Holmes is at the highest point on the island and requires walking up another bluff (more stairs). There is no cost to tour the Fort. Most people don't know it's there. From there, I hike past Fort Mackinac and the small airport. The other side of the island has a few more geologic formations (a shallow cave and "crack in the island"). Then on to British Landing. The hike continues back through town and onto Mission Point (or whatever hotel you're staying at).
Thank you so much for this video and all the others you do. I love watching your content.

The fort was originally located on the west side of the bridge area in Mackinaw City, it was built by the French, later taken over by the British , then dismantled and brought to the island over the ice. A second smaller fort is Fort Holmes that is located on higher ground to the west of Fort Mackinaw, the island saw action in the Revolutionary War and War of 1812. The British turned the fort over to the Americans in 1796, long after the war of independence had been over. There is also a fort in St. Ignace, Sault Ste Marie and a block house on Bois Blanc Island. There are lots of hotel options in the area, plus state camp grounds not that far away. There are several more Murdicks Fudge locations in northern Michigan too.

I never leave a comment because you do such a great job but I have to say those are not fish tacos. Everything was wrong from the fish not being done correctly, lettuce is definitely a no no on a fish taco and that's not a tortilla it looked like pita bread. Everything else was great but those should not be called fish tacos! We love your videos and looking forward for the next one. You should take your dad to Ensenad or Puerto Nuevo Mexico and taste real fish and lobster tacos.

I'm a michigander I'm born and raised in metro Detroit and going to Mackinac Island is just something that you can do anytime. It's really nice to see it through The eyes of someone who hasn't been there and to also see it be appreciated. If you've never been and you're planning on going a couple of things, the Grand hotel is very Grand but to take a picture on the porch you have to pay and if you want to stay there it is not worth it. It is beautiful but it is ridiculously overpriced and just stand near it and take a picture and that's all that you need. If you have to go in the summer ordering a holiday expect it to be ridiculously overcrowded everywhere. It gets the hottest that it will in Michigan obviously, and personally I think it's miserable to go in June July or August or over holiday weekend. If you can go any other time I really suggest it. It's beautiful in the very early spring and fall and if you can go during the lilac festival it is amazing. Also with all of the horses on Mackinac it very much smells like horse if you know what I mean the hotter that it is so just keep that in mind😂 if you're able to get a bicycle just do it. If not kind of look up what it is that you want to see and plan out your route carefully. Finally, Mackinac Island is with a c and Mackinaw City is with a w. Enjoy Michigan ❤

Those horse drawn carriages are popular
in St Augustine too. I feel bad for them in
    the heat of Florida.
    Not an issue today...Hurricane
    Debby has dropped by.
Thanks for another interesting adventure 👍

The Yoopers live above the Mackinaw bridge (Big Mac) and the Trolls live under the bridge.

When I hear Mackinac I think of peaches and Seinfeld. I love that there is a dedicated path for bikes where cars aren’t allowed. You can get lost in your surroundings. Great way to see ths island

Motorized vehicles of ANY kind are forbidden on the whole Island. Not sure where the truck came from, but the only ways to get around the Island are horse, bicycle or walking. It's always been that way.

In 1985, I great friend and I, took the whole month of August off from the USAF and drove around the USA. Coming back to base we actually drove across Big Mac (Mackinac Bridge) at approximately 0600. The views, nonetheless, were stunning. We didn't have a chance to stop on Mackinac Island, but it was great to be there, anyways. Great job and video!

Mackinac Island looks amazing! I really would like to visit here. Doughnuts, fudge, butterflies, biking, and the views! I liked that you included the cost of each restaurant and activity you did. It really gives a good idea on what to budget for. Awesome video, great content, very informative!

Good job! I've dreamed of visiting Mackinaw Is ever since seeing it in the film 'Somewhere in Time'
You give all the details that visitors need. I love the trips where your Pop's with you. Reminds me of traveling with my mother -bittersweet.
