So much money needed on this stuff
Thanks to everyone's service
I counted those wheels quite a few years ago, when I was privileged to see a C-5 Galaxy take off; it flew right over our heads! What a thrill!
Very good thanks from hamou fahem Algeria
Imagine if the Wright brothers could see this plane get loaded with a 60 ton tank. Then take off.
What's funny is that if Orville had lived to 97, he would have seen a man land on the moon
I imagine they'd wonder where their sister is so they could get one last tag-team in.
@@matthewcetorelli8451 You mean pokadoniss?
Amazing right
Bruh they’d nearly come back to life
Absolutely fantastic, when you see what man can produce then you see a City in the USA with the name Gary you don't need a war, there's something not right!!!
This is a great video to show this magnificent C-5, thank you!
This is a fantastic insight too. Perfection These are high paying jobs after military. If I had to do it all over again, yes, the Air Force would be the way to go. I love aircraft and everything there is to do about them. All of you should be very proud for knowing a very specific industry. Hats off to the Air Force.
These great volunteer air maintenance people are under appreciated.
Volunteer ?
I've seen C-5's land and take off. It is unbelievable!! When a person watches a C-5 take off for the first time, you feel like it will NEVER get off the ground! It seems impossible; especially when there are vehicles, helicopters, and thousands of pounds of equipment on board! It's facinating!!
seeing these birds in the air is always impressive
It's incredible machine but for suffering humanity, these are machines of destruction.
Wow amazing planes
These maintenance men and women wow what the learn and do is certainly the greatest thing!
The C-5 is just No Joke!
Those tires are huge & 200 PSI. It took 2 of us to change a tire. I was a communication/navigation technician in the Air Force Reserves & since that equipment didn't often break I usually helped out with tire changes, etc.
Means you work with these giant aircrafts right! Wow
Still working
@@claytonwilliams2689 I didn't re-enlist in 2001 & retired from another job in 2017.
That is so wonderfull
I had the pleasure of seeing a C-5A do touch and go at Beale AFB in 1971
That's a whole new world of aviation.
With Regards to the C-5A -vs- AN-225 debate...
Lockheed C-5 Galaxy - versus - Antonov AN-225 / 247 ft - length - 275 ft 7 in / 223 ft - wingspan - 290 ft / 6,006 ft2 - wing area - 9,741 ft2 / 64 ft 11 in - height - 59 ft 4 in / 4 - engines - 6 / 43,000 lbf - thrust per engine - 51,590 lbf / 172,000 lbf - total thrust - 309,540 lbf /
833,000 lbs - MTOW (Max.Take Off Weight) - 1,323,000 lbs / 5,162 nm - range - 2,430 nm / M0.71 - cruise speed - M0.78 / 287,000 - max payload - 551,000 lbs.
While the C-5A may be "One" of the largest (number 6, out of 10)... it's certainly Not the largest. The Only way it beats the AN-225, is in height... but, Only as measured at the top of the vertical stabilizer wing... the AN-225 is taller to the top of the fuselage. Yes, I know... the AN-225 suffered some pretty nasty damage and destroyed the front quarter to a third... however, is rebuildable... and they Do have another Mirya, that is over 60% complete... possibly closer to 70%.
I love Antonov 225 mirya
Not really a debate, unless you are an insecure Russian. The AN-225 is a six-engine aircraft. The C-5 has four engines. They aren't in the same class. But where they are really different from each other is total airlift. C-5's are in the air daily. The -225 only flew one to two missions a month. And now it doesn't fly at all.
Muito lindo mesmo este avião ✈️ sucesso pra vcs
It's like an airplane hanger inside of an airplane
I love the C-5
God bless America
What's amazing about wheels is, how much weight and the force of impact they take when they hit the ground. Besides engines, wheels are up there of importance, but they get less appreciation.
It has that many wheels to be able to land on less than ideal runways (dirt) so as not to dig itself into the runway but to compact the earth under it. A requirement that the DOD asked for. Also it weighs less than a 747 but can carry more weight due to the outer skin design. I toured the C5 assembly line back in '72 at Lockheed in Marietta. Beautiful plane!
Süperrr ( C-5 ) , *Amerika* uçak üretim , geliştirme *konusunda* Dünya Lideri 🙏👏🧿
USA the great military and high technologi
I remember in the early 1980s I was attached to an F-14 Squadron vf142 and we arrived in Naval Air Station Roosevelt roads in Puerto Rico because we were serving as the enemy attacking an aircraft carrier that was practicing to be deployed to the Mediterranean. Along Came the Air Force with their FB 111 aardvarks and it was impressive to see the C5 Galaxy aircraft arrived prior to the f111s. they seem to float in the air arriving in slow motion, it was a spectacle to see one after another Landing. the operation was impressive in how they were able to offload all the equipment quickly and prepare for the arrival of the f111s.
I wish I was an airplane. I'd want to be a DC-3. I like old things.
You want to be the Spruce Goose? lol

Most impressive air mobility, just awesome.

MADE IN USA ALWAYS POWERFUL N BEAUTIFUL. AMERICA N ALLIES MUST REMAIN STRONG N UNITED TO MAINTAIN WORLD PEACE. ONLY MADE IN AMERICA HAVE SUCH QUALITY .
I wish Lockheed would build a new version of its legendary L-1011. The C5 is a beautiful machine and has performed flawlessly. Lockheed has excellent engineering teams that can turn impossible reams in to reality. The Lockheed L-1011 was a plane far ahead of its time. Of course none of these plane can accomplish anything without their highly ground and air personnel that can all these technical capabilities into a meaning and efficient "Service".

That’s pretty big engineering jobs on this super galaxy plane carries heavy armed vehicles.
where do the engineers get all these knowledge for building the R.R engine. Hats off.
great video !!
Well designed! with lots of cargo space, its a essential equipment for any airforce.
Impressive aircraft. It would be instructive to see a side-by-side comparison of this to the Antonov.
Waah besar sekali pesawat cargonya.....😱😱😱😱👍👍

I did in fact enjoy the video thank you keep them coming👍👍👍
Worked on C5Bs at Travis in the 80s, 60 OMS!
Amazing wow ,

Super avion ,doté d une technologie de pointe...........
Wow that's impressive
Awesome 👍
Great video
I'm no engineer but with 28 wheels, I am surprised only 2 in the front.
@FlightLevel 360 - i am surprised as well.
Many people have wondered why the nose gear appeared to have tòo few tires. I would prefer to see a couple more.
But i'm sure it is built and able to handle the stresses and weights.
The C-5 has four in the front, and unlike a typical airliner design which has significantly smaller nose tires, those four are the same size as the mains.
Thank you 🙏 i count different tires 🤷♂️☝️inventory ☝️😎and great 👍🎥
Wow that's awesome 👍
But they never give credit to the maintainers??❤
This is a absolute excellent video 👍👍👍👍👍👍
What surprise s me is inspite of all these advance d technologies U.S had run of Afghanistan in such a hurry.
Antonov 225 had 32 wheels !
the Military Airlift Command became famous during and after the Berlin Airlift.

VERY NICE VEDIO OF USA AIR FORCE C-17
My wife wants to know if we can borrow a C5 for Black Friday shopping. Can it land in a Walmart parking lot?
Nice & Informative Video
Let see how you will perform during the swing phase.
Ausgezeichnet 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I spent 19 years on that beast; 2 as a Crew Chief and the remaining as a Flight Engineer. Never got to crew the “M” though. She’s a magnificent bird.

Super flyt sir...i like us hard work 👌👌
I notice in the intro that the C-17 is flying backwards!

C5 is the AMERICAN Version of the ANN124....ANN225 AIRCRAFTS.
Beautiful bird
United States Air Force!!!
My first flight on one of these was the C5-A,(the original), and not only was the sheer size of the interior space mind boggling, but so was the fact that you could see every part of the cable system that controlled the wing surfaces moving. It was steampunk before it became trendy.
LO MAS CURIOSO ES QUE UTILIZA EXACTAMENTE LAS MISMAS 28 PARA DESPEGAR,
I heard on the street. Proud boys are in the trees
Jumped out of it. It's nice. Lots of space

Can't land without a good pilot🐒
Machines et hommes pour oeuvres de mort.
Lockheed C5 galaxy 💪
It really doesn't need the 28 wheels to support the aircraft. There was a requirement in design for operation off of unimproved airports. I believe it was tested but never really used. A 747 weighs in at nearly 1,000,000 LBs and it has less wheels.
True, the c17 max takeoff weight is 585k pounds versus 747 max takeoff of 700k - 987k pounds. I google fact-checked :) Wingspan of 747 is 224.5 ft compared to c17 at 170 ft. We should be watching a 747 video right now, and the c17 has waaaay too many wheels to justify itself
Wrong
Let’s get you a medal 🎖️

70개가 넘었던걸로 아는데.. 잘못세었나?
So, too, will my 18-wheeler If
Eye don't lose sum weight!
you start with the C-5 then get into the C-17,,,WTF?????
Different aircraft (and operating costs) for different missions... same as for airliners.
Kekuatan militer AS hanya utk kegaduhan dunia, tp bukan utk kedamaian.
Meu tem algum Brasileiro assistindo esse vídeo? Não sei porque de uns meses para cá vídeos de outros países aparecem para mim já traduzidos, mas tudo bem, aí eu quero saber: isso também acontece com vocês?

Hover aircraft are hard to brake, and tend to ingest stuff.
