    That's just what l am looking for, but want a roof over the seating, and a bit more enclosed. So can sit out nice and warm with the fire on. Just going to keep my pond full of plants and a bit wild , but with the window. Still in my head. .

    Hello! Very cool build! I’m doing something similar except my viewing panel is almost the entire length of the aquarium. The panel will be 11.5 feet long, and 7 feet tall. The tank capacity is 10,000 liters. What thickness of glass should I use? Your help is greatly appreciated

    • @dakyates8265
      @dakyates8265 5 років тому +2

      Your talking some extremely thick glass at that size, it might be more plausible to use 3 smaller windows, your best bet is to contact a local glass manufacturer and discuss it with them as you will need to know how deep the window will be in relation to the water level ect

    • @StanTheObserver-lo8rx
      @StanTheObserver-lo8rx 4 роки тому

      7' tall?? It must be pretty narrow. YOU need a contractor for that job. Nobody does a vid of major investment and all they got was a cracked $3,000 sheet of glass...

    Good Work!!! How is it getting on? Be great to see an update and to understand what you would have done differently 👍👍

    • @pwfk
      @pwfk  4 роки тому

      bob taylor funny you should ask, I’m about to move house and a condition if the sale means I have to destruct the equipment and fill in the pond! So I’ll be planning and building a new one at the new house next year. The new design would definitely have windows that are not so tall allowing you to reach down by hand for cleaning, it’s proved really difficult to get enough pressure to clean bottom of glass with a long brush.

    • @bobtaylor5332
      @bobtaylor5332 4 роки тому

      @@pwfk blimey! I've often wondered what would happen to my pond when I come to move on from my current house. Reccon that I will make it a condition of the sale that the new owners must like ponds and koi 🤣
      Cracking job though - good luck with the next one 👍
      Have a look at mine - I rendered the walls and painted with epoxy which gave a great smooth finish - good alternative to fibreglass and much cheaper. May be worth considering

    Looks nice. But, just out of personal choice, I'd have gone with Indian stone for the paving not the block. Still. Top job though

    im digging a hole for my pond at the moment my question is it safe to do a single wall with thermlite blocks

  • @oregonsbragia
    @oregonsbragia 4 роки тому +1

    I like the trellis, but it seems like it obstructs the view from the bridge. Maybe it should have been a couple feet higher, or I would have maybe just taken out the bridge. I'm not too sure of it's purpose if not for viewing the fish as it also covers up a considerable portion of the pond. Also it seems like the fire pit area is below grade. Just curious, Is there a drain or does it fill up with water when it rains? Either way, it's a beautiful build. I like the green pump house.

    • @pwfk
      @pwfk  4 роки тому +1

      The purpose of the bridge is partly to get to the other side as no other access past the pond but you can also easily veiw the pond standing on the bridge. The ground under the fire pit drains very well and I have never had any problems :-)

    Great job. What were the grey panels made from that were adhered to the wall before the liner was fitted?

    • @pwfk
      @pwfk  7 років тому +3

      They are 25mm polystyrene insulation boards that are under the liner on the walls and base, insulates and also means liner not direct onto concrete blocks

      QUEOS by the looks of the size and quantity of the koi I would think he already had a pond and cycled media for the filtration system. No one buys that many koi that big in one go and just plonks them unceremoniously in an uncycled pond. That would be the dumbest, biggest, most expensive waste of money ever.
