    I've repaired the shifter fault and the coolant fault before...if you need to know how to repair or bypass those codes I can help.

    I had an older Jaguar XJS with 12 cylinders that would cruise at 150 mph no probs. However due to Jaguars having service issues and more moving parts than the space shuttle I had to sell the car. The lack of the internet having the answers to everything at the time I could not figure out how to fix the sound system. Pearl Jam's Ten was stuck in the CD player and I had to listen to it or nothing at all. The decision to sell was easy after hearing Eddie Vedder mumble incessantly for millionth time...

    Scotty Kilmer calls 'em "endless money pits." 😉 😊 Just bash it with a old hammer now and then, it might work wonders.

      That is because he does not know just how excellent the cars are. Parts are not expensive and cars are generally very reliable.

    Mid-90s Chevy trucks and truck-chassis vans like the Astro do this sometimes. They have an electric motor under the dash which unlocks the shifter- actually the same type of motor used in power door locks- and this acts upon a cable. It's usually this cable which gets stuck.

    I have a 81 XJS in the garage now. Love it and hate it at the same time. Now it needs a fuel tank, the original is rusty and has already been patched a couple times. Too far gone to fix. I’ve had no luck finding one so it may get a fuel cell from Jeg’s but I really don’t want to engineer that.

    The Jaguar symbol looks more demonic, than like a cat, hence why the damn things have so many problems lol

    Closed video, would have liked to see this.
    I let opening and closing ads run, in support
    of CP's, but NEVER midrolls.

    Just a year ago I owned a '98 BMW 5 series with a ZF automatic gearbox. Never had an issue with the gear selector or electronics, but the solenoids in the gearbox were shot due to lack of maintenance (the trans oil needs to be changed about every 40k miles). It was a great car, with great trim and leather seats but it was just a 520i they are worth nothing so I had to ditch it.

    Question: What is the definition of an optimist? Answer: A person who owns two Jaguars and expects them both to run at the same time! Thanks Brad!

    Brad the low coolant message is due to a float (with magnetic sensor) that sits in the coolant expansion tank. Easy to swap the tank out for another. Worth doing.

    I know this is older footage but There should be a button you can push or lever to push / pull so you can shift out of park when the brake position sensor isn’t working properly. I know there is on Chevrolet but not sure where it is on Jag’s.
    Maybe you could look it up online for next time it goes bad.

    There is black Jaguar that's been sitting behind a gas station at the junction with highway 31 between North Vernon and Columbus for over a year. I don't have any idea what's wrong with it, I see it whenever we gas up on the way back to the shop. Want another one?

    This is why I'll never own an automatic transmission car. I'll stick to my manual transmission lol

    • @robinosborne266
      @robinosborne266 4 роки тому +1

      Both manual and Autos have their problems, if you live in a really congested city and drive predominantly short journeys then Autos are a godsend. All types and models of cars have their bad and good points (although I struggle to think of anything good at all about our first BMW 5 Series - it broke down on the way home from the dealership on the day that it was purchased brand-new). I think that the majority of problems on modern cars are for more likely to be electronically related rather than transmission.

    My wife and I had several (7 I think) new Jaguars from the 80s all the way until 2010 and I have to say that even though quite a few of them did cover high mileages, we kept them serviced at the Main Jaguar Dealers. The only problems that we ever had was with the gearbox on several of them. Ironically the gearboxes were all made in Germany (ZF). We then fancied a change and purchased a BMW 5 Series - Man, what a complete load of junk that was!! I was so bad that it was eventually replaced by BMW and the second one was just a problematic (including gearbox issues - guess what? ZF Gearboxes). We lost a fortune after selling the second car but we purchased a Mercedes E Class (350) and what a difference!!! We are now onto our second E Class and we would never have any other make. We do very few miles lately as I can no longer drive due to health problems, but my wife won’t even consider replacing our current model she loves it so much and it drives like new. We have got a Mercedes-Benz service plan which cost £35 per month and a Mercedes-Benz Extended Warranty which is £350 per year. Both of these are well worth the money for “peace of mind”. Love the channel Brad!!

      Can you elaborate. I have a 2001 s-type and I'm trying to learn more about this issue, I'm too having this problem, but only when I park on a hill. I'm fine while leaving the on park if I'm on a level surface, but I figured that if I'm going to park on a hill (either up or down hill) I have to first engage the emergency brake and then shift to park. As long as I do that, my car will shift gears just fine.

    My GF has a 2006 Vanden Plas. Nice car but it's hers. She prefers to drive her older Town car. I bet you quit buying those cars unless you are wealthy.
    You live in KY...where's your truck?

    I notice that your 'Engine management light' (ECU) is on ( the amber light) and that would give all kinds of spurious messages eg 'Coolant level is low' it could even interfere with your gear shift messages and issues. The ECU (Brain) controls just about everything that's electrical in the car. My Volvo V70 2.5 turbo estate sometimes throws a 'wobbly', and I just take it to my local dealer, and he resets the codes in the ECU . .Hope that helps my friend!

    • @jb944
      @jb944 3 роки тому

      If that is the case, short the connector that goes to the coolant sensor (where the float is), the message will go, see if the transmission issues stop.

    I have a 2000 jaguar s type. It’s constantly stuck in gearbox fault but every once in a while it goes turbo mode and kicks into normal driving.
