Actually I was looking for a 2×12" speaker cabinet for 1 of my amp heads and saw the Bandit at one of the pawnshops I went to..I was planning on calling them tomorrow to see if it's still there.. I live 40 miles from there so just want to make sure.
This is one of my favorite amps of all time. My album I'm working on combines the tone from a Mesa Mark III and a Teal Stripe Bandit and it sounds phenomonal.
@i2ottenBannana sorry not sure how i missed your comment, i try to reply to them all right away. If it were me id run a tubescreamer infront, gain off vol full into the front input of the bandit. Put an eq in the loop to boost the lowest eq band until the lowend fills in. Then PLAY!!
@@i2ottenBannanai dont think the bandit needs the metalzone since it already has a good high gain tone. You dont want to have 2 different sources of highgain distortion. But you could use the metalzone set to highgain and use the clean channel of the bandit but i honestly think youll get the best results with just the amp. Its been 6 months, im curious how its going???

I have the same amp and was wondering how you feel the Scorpion compares to speakers such as the Vintage 30, I ask cause I am wondering if I should try another speaker or keep the stock Scorpion in it, thank you for you showing how awesome the old Bandit's are
I think the stock scorpion sounds pretty decent but as was pointed out to me they do cut some lows and so would i prefer a swamp thang!? Heck yes! But id say try it as is because its by no means bad!

@@disembodiedstudios It's not too, too hard to add an external speaker jack. Probably a pretty quick job for an amp tech, or yourself if you're handy with a soldering iron. I added one to a little Peavey Rage 158 a ways back, and was very happy that I did.
@@disembodiedstudios my transtube studio pro has an output jack. I hooked it up into my buddies dime cab 4x12. Holy hell it sounds good in drop g#. Joyo extreme metal pedal in the loop for an EQ. Then guitar goes into a tube screamer then a 5150 overdrive/distortion into the clean channel. Massive Whitechapel-ish tones.
@@disembodiedstudiosChucks Guitar Geekery informed me about the Combo Extension Box by Eric Merrow that for $30 bucks turns any combo amp into a head basically when you plug a cab in and returns to regular combo amp use when not plugged into cab and it installs in less than 30 seconds in any open back combo as it will take longer to install in a closed back obviously as you will have to get to the speaker wires as it plugs onto your speaker and your speaker wires connect on the box without having to solder an output jack onto your amp or mess with the wiring of your amp other than a simple putting connecting the box between your speakers and speaker wires as there is a video here on youtube by Eric Merrow showing the Combo Extension Box and how quick and easy it is to install and can then power any cab you desire, Chucks Guitar Geekery said he bought one for every combo amp he owns so that every one of them can always be used as the combo or a head to a cab
No i dont believe so. It benefits immensely from an od and eq . Live playing with a bassist id say you dont really NEED the eq. Its just to boost the very lowend around 50hz-100hz but thats more helpful when playing alone at home
Oh no no, its definitely pretty highgain all on its own. But like many amps im using a tubescreamer with gain off and vol full to boost it and i have an eq in the loop just boosting the lowend a little. @emirgeduev
@@emirgeduev would i? Yes i personal WOULD recommend it for ANY metal. Its a beast. In a band the special130 rips! It can keep up with any recto/6505 type amps no problem. Its loud as heck! It has VERY bold thick mids so an eq to boost the lowend and highend can even it out nicely. But even by itself you will get very aggressive chunky bold mean high gain tones ! in my experience these amps dont need this much gain, i really feel its an overkill to go fullly kranked on the gain , plus the boost plus an extra overdriv, still sounds kickass but its getting muddy
I never strive to be 100% perfect. Youll miss a lot of importance 😊 But yeah sure, it could use a lil less gain and a bit more or less ir this or that. This is not some official release, the point is that it CAN death metal 😊
@@disembodiedstudios I have a Peavey 212 chorus of the same era I picked up for 100$ and I love that amp. Couldn't pass up the bandit. Funny thing is I had a newer bandit in the 90s and I hated it lol.

The Scorpion speaker only reaches 4000 Hertz, not bright enough for metal IMO. The Sheffield is much brighter (6500 Hertz), my silver stripe bandit has one. People are selling them for cheap on the web.

Yup, i hear it. The scorp is def a bit boxier and darker. Eitherway my fav speaker is an emi swamp thang which ill most likely throw into the bandit when im able
I tried some fancier speakers over the Sheffield 1230 in my teal stripe and the 1230 seemed as good as any of them in that amp. Never tried the Scorpion though.
I don't have those pedals but have a boost and with those exact settings in not getting near ass heavy a tone. Also the clean channel on mine can't be turned up last 1 and cannot take any distortion pedals....
A lot of it is having an eq in the fx loop and boosting the lows (around 100hz) and highs (around 8khz), the depth finder is essentially acting as an eq btw incase you don't know what it is. What boost do you have? Can be any sort of tubescreamer style pedal, or boss sd1 (which is what the mxr m77 is based on) Gain off (or very low), volume full, tone noonish. Why can't you turn your clean channel up🤔? Maybe something is wrong with yours, mine take pedals amazingly on the clean channel
@@disembodiedstudios I have a tube screamer...not sure about the clean volume pot but it's crazy loud at 1 and I tried the hm2 on it and the feedback shook my house and scared the cats two floors up....gonna give it a clean with deposit and see if that helps.....I'll need that depth finder as your tone is exactly what I'm looking for thanks for the tips

Had my teal since 1989 mxr 10band in loop and chepo danelctro od before preamp just wired mine up for a ext 12 been running at 4ohms for while

Most amps with the right Overdrive will sound really good. But to me it means the amp cant do it on its own

Just fyi gup tech has made a clone of the depth finder! it’s the PdeQ pedal,I’m gonna grab it and see if I can relative you tone on this awesome video
