Yeah, the plane was significantly light due to the low flight endurance, hence it could take off much sooner.
@pilot zaid not necessary, but they usually use 4-6,000ft of runway minimum for takeoff
TVs on a 45 minute flight blow my mind. Meanwhile Easyjet airlines in Europe are doing 4 hour + flights with nothing.
To be fair most people can Sit still and relax for 4 hours. I doubt anything like that would sell more tickets
Those are kinda budget airlines prices differ in every regions
But Batik Air Malaysia (fka Malindo) is not a low cost airline like Easyjet..
There is difference between full service airlines and budget airlines..
This plane has also 12 business class... Low cost airlines don't give Business class...Easyjet have no business class.. So this is the reply to your question.
Batik or malindo is part of indonesia's lion air group.initially i think lion air wanted to compete with airasia on low cost but changed when they see Malaysia airlines as a weaker competitor and upgraded to full service batik air.i think that is their game plan.
if you have to buy food and blankets etc etc, it is a low cost no matter their marketing.

They are definitely in a very tough position, by trying to compete with the LCC in the region with a wrong cabin configuration as a full service airline. Some of their routes are as expensive as Malaysia Airlines yet they do not offer complimentary meal. They are lucky enough to have Lion Air with deep pocket to sustain their operation.
What a coincidence, I was flying that route just few weeks ago but with Air Asia :D It was a one day visit to Kuala Lumpur and my departure flight was delayed 1,5 hours, I was soaking wet due to tropical storm in Malaysia and I saw only 1/4 of attractions I wanted, my returning flight was delayed as well and at the end in Singapore I was able only to arrive to Tanah Merah, and there wasn't any more trains to the city :D I had to take a taxi to my hotel. All in all bad experience but I would like to give another chance to Malaysia, especially people there are so nice and friendly! Greetings from Poland.
Airasia recently have been notorious with common flight delays, I myself have 5 flights with them (from August until November) and every single flight was delayed by a minimum of 1 hour
Yeah the city-bound trains end relativelyearly (2318h from Changi Airport) as their termination point (Tuas Link, almost 1.5h away at the other end of the country) is quite far away. I remember Changi Airport does run shuttle buses to downtown when the MRT (train) is closed for the day though
@@lzh4950 Still there are plenty of flights coming late to Changi even 30-40 flights from midnight till morning. If I will travel for 10-20+ hours and land there I will be upset. Moreover I didn't see any information about airport shuttle buses. I will expect something better from "the best airport in the world" :)
Huh.... Quite interesting that i am seeing a video on the exact same plane i stepped on 3 years ago when it was still with Batik Air (PK-LBY), from JOG to HLP. Fun fact: the IFE is off because it was "inoperable", on my flight back in 2019 they even announced over the PA that the IFE is inoperable, typically they would enable it regardless of flight duration. The reason why it was "inoperable" is because the IFE manufacturer on many of its 737s are from Lumexis, a IFE manufacturer that actually went bust around mid 2010s or so. Because of that, there is basically no spare parts for the IFE system at all, but instead of switching the IFEs to Zodiac ones, (like they do with A320s that eventually got its IFEs after that didn't get delivered without one, and i believe on some 737s as well) they just left the IFE as is for some of the 737s

Great review as always -- your reviews are always great and informative. I also agree with your review - I flew on Lion Air/Batik Air from South Asia to Malaysia and then from Malaysia to Sri Lanka -- the first flight did not have the PTV seat but the second flight did. Both flights had good legroom and decent service. The price was decent and the service for the price was good.

I recommend Air Asia X, I flew with them from Bangkok to Denpasar recently and for a budget airline I was impressed with the level of service I received, though 4 hours without IFE or Inboard wifi really got to me but won't fault them for my low attention span :D

I flew with Batik air Malaysia 2 months ago from Kuala lumpur to Bali. It was great. There were no ife's but i like the fact that if you have or had a connecting flight, they gives you a free thai curry. Great detail.
Did they use 737-800 or Max 8? I'm planning for a trip to Bali. Deciding between Air Asia or Batik. Will this be a better option compared to Air Asia's A320?

When I flew Bangkok Airways for a side trip to Koh Samui, I was surprised that this short 90min domestic flight included a full meal.
Bangkok airways has always been a full service airline. Is better than Air Asia etc.

I recommend to ride Malindo Air from Kuala Lumpur to Hong Kong.
CORRECTION: Malindo Air used to be named Batik Air Malaysia which serves from Indonesia to Malaysia, but it was changed to Malindo Air as Jakarta and Kuala Lumpur are the hubs, now serving southeast Asia, Hong Kong, Thailand, and Papua, to KL.
Now they are rebranded again as batik air malaysia
