That's effing Great! I'm blown away by the coherent phrasing of it! quoth Zappa- "it doesn't, and you cant. I won't, and it don't, It hasn't. it isn't. it even ain't, and it shouldn't. it couldn't." Unbelievable!
It feels amazing to watch this 8 years later with more knowledge. Seeing the tiny imperfections in the video and realizing how he did it without cutting the video at all just makes me smile so much.
@RobinD06 yes because they recorded the audio before hand, and when editing you can do the audio separately there is a slight jump so the music would end in time and on the end of a bar when he goes out side and is busking with those people outside so there aren’t any hidden cuts
This is the first UA-cam video I remember distinctly seeing, I was subscribed to mgm or atleast would watch his videos, but this video made me click on freddiew and so was the real start of my UA-cam fascination. Now I watch it 2-8 hours a day and basically don’t watch anything else.
Damn!....I KNEW freddie had to be behind this. At first, I just thought the editing style was similar, but when he made an appearance at the end, it all made sense!
2 Years ago I watched this video :p, and I was introduced to Freddiew, thank you MGM for helping me find another youtuber who became one of my favorites haha :D.
MysteryGuitarMan, your videos always make me smile. The music is awesome, and the visual entertainment always gives me a good laugh. Keep up the good work! :D
LOL! That girl's reaction was freakin' hilarious! I didn't even notice it until you pointed it out. Oh, and some nice Inspector Gadget action there too!
Finished watching In Space With Markiplier and it made me come back to all the channels I used to watch, Rocket Jump, MysteryGuitarMan, NigaHiga, I miss these times, good content for the sake of good content
straight dope! its all about the plastic coat hanger. I think that and him opening the washer/dryer door causes an open hi hat / double kick effect. very nice
@WFFLPWND dude, if Freddie Wong was there, it means that they used After Effects to rotoscope individually filmed portions of the video with mysteryguitarman on a green screen over to a video with the stairs/hallways etc.
It's just clever effects, you can see the table is inconsistant at 0:13 and if you looks closely you can see the Joe at 0:44 moving around a litte without the rest of the scene. This video kicks so much ass!!
in the hallways he was always playing some instrument only after those door way things and at 0:45 you can clearly see there's a masking tool applied around Joe which means there was motion tracking involved too and when the camera follows.. that's a real shot. And after he climbs the stairs another one appears after the opened door leaving the real one time to go behind the camera guy.and when he climbs the stairs and reappears on the lower set,i noticed a little pause there.that's all for now
Okay Joe, I've been sincerely wondering how you made this video for 8 months now. No, seriously, I'll be in class or something, and it will randomly pop into my head, and I'll just think, HOW?!??!? Please tell us!
in the laundry you record when you are closing de door and then you move the camera to the left and shoot when you are putting the coin. Then with a software like after effects you put the one next to the other and you change the position and it looks like you teletransport. NOTE: i speak spanish so maybe there are errors.
Here's what I think: Once the camera stops focusing on you, you run to your next spot, your materials are on that spot waiting for you, and u start playing. Once Freddie arrives at the next spot, you will be there playing the instrument already. There are also shortcuts inside somewhere in the house, that are hidden, and you can take those shortcuts to your next spot.
If i understand correctly they alternated actual footage of MGM doing the music things (like stomping the table, breaking the glass), with digitally added matte's. With 3D motion tracking they made it look realistic and had the 'digital' MGM stay in the right place. There are several video's showing little flaws, caused by adding a digital MGM.
they took the original video, wich was a tour of the building essentially, and with pro camera tracking, and greenscreen, added MGM in. you can tell because he sorta floats when he sits down with the guitar. :)
@Narukari1 There is no need for a greenscreen. They had pre-recorded more than half of the MGMs with a static camera (these are the 1st and 3rd MGM in the laundry room, the two who are on the hallways playing guitar, the one climbing up the stairs and the one outside with the kids ) and after they made one pass without cuts with the camera and the other MGMs. Then freddie motion-tracked the pre-recorded and voila... He had done the same with his "jamming with my three best friends" video...
Eu Realmente... Kara... Show esse vídeo!!! Bom, acho que a gravação foi pausada... deve ser.... Meu, você é o Kara! Parabéns pelo teu trabalho!!! Me divirto Muito com Seus Vídeos! Deus Abençoe Você!
@06lellis how does he interact with different objects? such as the washing machines in the beginning and the shots of him while the camera is walking up the stairs through the bars of the staircases?
I have watched every mgm video and every behind the scenes and it seems that mgms workstyle is to not take the easy way, such as the set the world on fire video with the phones, he did that all manually when he could have just green screened it. It is Joe's style to not do things simple
@101guitarchord i don't think so , try to see Joe at 0:14 then 0:43 ►► 1:05 ► 1:24 there's something weird with Joe ? looks like some effect ?? then when camera at 1:30 - 1:31 after that i don't know how he can ?
Omg wait what? You had the Inspector Gadget theme for the very end on this one, and you did a Dubstep Robot video that reminded me of that exact cartoon.
So I have to turn in a proposal for a looping video in my video art class today. I googled "looping video" to get ideas. I love that this was on the 2nd page of the results! XD Still can't figure out how you pulled it off yet though. Maybe it's multiple "one shot"s meshed together? Or else I'll just resign myself to believe that you're a frikken wizard, Joe.
Excuse me while i have a nerdy rant about how this is made XP First, notice the table at 0:12 seconds, indicating that one video is being masked into the other, using the pillar as a line to place the next video. Next notice Joe at 0:43, there is a light white aura around him, indicating that he has been cut out and video'd separately and then motion tracked back in as the camera moves. 1:08 Joe is done the same way, using the door frame to hide the crop. And now I've run outta room MGM FOREVER!
I wish I knew how to do videos like this.... Where you are in one spot and then the camera moves and you are in another spot without joining two clips together. Know what I mean? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
@finder85 Thanks man... I am glad i am not the only person who thinks like that... Also if you notice this video was about a month after freddiews video "jamming with my 3 best friends"....
that was amazing man, VERRY nice and impressive trick, unless ofcourse you own a portal gun from the future, then it's not a trick. aaaanyway, theese vids/musics are grealty enjoyable, many many kudos to you.
I don't know what's more epic/stupid: the fact that he tried to bang on emergency glass that's supposed to break easily, or the fact that he kept going despite the fact that he cut himself. And apparently got blood on that girl's hand.
My dad introduced me this when I was 10. And now Im 18 and about to cry because this was a huge part of my childhood. I love you man!
You’re now 23
There are hidden cuts, you can see one in Joe's hand
this was probably my favorite MysteryGuitarMan song. I love the Guitar at the end
This video is by far my favourite MGM video ever!!!
I suppose he was filming it too
Yep Five years Later I still can't work this one out!
+Philly Dun He speeds it up. Notice at 1:29 it gets fast.
+MichaelChin1994 Omg. Thank you so much. This has periodically bugged me for almost six years now....
DFTBACleaves I only posted it when I figured it out....
Lol. That's awesome. Something so simple has completely tripped us up for so long.
+DFTBACleaves Yeah. MGM is so talented!
Theres a space between every transition where the speed ("FPS" I think it;s called) is slowed and then sped up in editing
Still a good video though, however you did it.
That's effing Great!
I'm blown away by the coherent phrasing of it!
quoth Zappa-
"it doesn't, and you cant. I won't, and it don't, It hasn't. it isn't.
it even ain't, and it shouldn't.
it couldn't."
Unbelievable!
Joe is naruto that explains
Still one of my favourite UA-cam videos and so catchy!
Of all of his videos, this was the first I watched and it's still my favorite
This is honestly my favorite MGM video ever... its just awesome.
freaking ingenius...i don't care if there really isn't clone's of MGM running around...this vid is AWESOME!
KEEP ROCKING, MGM!
If u look really closely, you can see little cuts in the video between each MGM. He was helped by Freddiew. (Freddie says in one of his own videos.)
You`re just magical !!!!
We are giant fans of ALL your videos.
I believe this guy partakes in the bud smoking to enhance his creativity.... Very entertaining!
This is the first UA-cam video I remember distinctly seeing, I was subscribed to mgm or atleast would watch his videos, but this video made me click on freddiew and so was the real start of my UA-cam fascination. Now I watch it 2-8 hours a day and basically don’t watch anything else.
def the best video you did all year mgm
Oh my god! My two favorite youtube guys in one video! Freddie is awesome
It's so complicated you can't help but love it and smile :)
Damn!....I KNEW freddie had to be behind this. At first, I just thought the editing style was similar, but when he made an appearance at the end, it all made sense!
Brings back so much memories
the first famous youtubers that i watched TY SO MUCH
2 Years ago I watched this video :p, and I was introduced to Freddiew, thank you MGM for helping me find another youtuber who became one of my favorites haha :D.
still one of my faves
You are awesome, and then Freddie Wong, MOST AWESOME VID EVER
MysteryGuitarMan, your videos always make me smile. The music is awesome, and the visual entertainment always gives me a good laugh. Keep up the good work! :D
Your a musical Ninja! You always right where we look next!
LOL! That girl's reaction was freakin' hilarious! I didn't even notice it until you pointed it out. Oh, and some nice Inspector Gadget action there too!
dude it feels like yesterday this video came out. Haha you look younger. And you're the reason why I started watching freddiew.
Finished watching In Space With Markiplier and it made me come back to all the channels I used to watch, Rocket Jump, MysteryGuitarMan, NigaHiga, I miss these times, good content for the sake of good content
freddie wong is just epic
MGM + freddie = epicness
straight dope! its all about the plastic coat hanger. I think that and him opening the washer/dryer door causes an open hi hat / double kick effect. very nice
Oh man! You are amazing! This is paradise for ears...!
Any vid that Freddie's in, you know it's gonna be awesome xD
i think this is still one of my favorite videos you've done :)
Ha I have been watching FreddieW's vids forever! Glad to see him on other peoples vids!!!
IMPOSSIBLE!!!!!!!!!! Yet freakishly AWESOME!
This video kicks so much ass!!
easily one of my favorite one of your videos Joe. This one and the battle you did with toby a while ago
How has it taken me over four years to find this!?
MGM's best video ever
Awesome video and Freddie Wong!
in the hallways he was always playing some instrument only after those door way things and at 0:45 you can clearly see there's a masking tool applied around Joe which means there was motion tracking involved too and when the camera follows.. that's a real shot. And after he climbs the stairs another one appears after the opened door leaving the real one time to go behind the camera guy.and when he climbs the stairs and reappears on the lower set,i noticed a little pause there.that's all for now

Please tell us!
at 00:56 you can see the mgm who plays the guitar isn't there O.O
your magical...that the only plausible way you did this...
in the laundry you record when you are closing de door and then you move the camera to the left and shoot when you are putting the coin. Then with a software like after effects you put the one next to the other and you change the position and it looks like you teletransport. NOTE: i speak spanish so maybe there are errors.

The second that the song started, a car alarm went off in my neighbor hood and matched the song perfectly! :D
All of the teeny joes were just magnified. Simple.
ONE OF THE BEST UA-camRS !!!!
I love the looping videos and i think there a multiple people dreesed as you doing things!
This is your best video in my opinion (of the ones I've seen)
Awesome Video!
Nice Song!
Freddie Wong!
I knew it! MGM is a wizard!
lol that girl was like ..whats on my hand. ANOTHER AWESOME VIDEO XDDD!
Omg. Pure amazing.
Você já fez algum video em portuques?.Qual seria??? Adoro seus videos (=
The first video I ever saw from mgm. Also one of the best imo. introduced me to freddie wong as well. SO GOOD^^
how'd you do it man? even till now im still amazed
This one is my fave of yours.
:45 in hallway playing guitar
:56 banging on table, no person in hallway
you must be crazy fast or have alot of twins lol
awesome video
one very important question, how did you hold it so steady?
they took the original video, wich was a tour of the building essentially, and with pro camera tracking, and greenscreen, added MGM in. you can tell because he sorta floats when he sits down with the guitar. :)
When you broke the glass I almost died laughing! Glad your okay, but that was hilarious!!!
MGM WILL BRING TO THE WORLD
I stayed here for so long trying to figure out the familiar mouth tune at the end. YES!!! INSPECTOR GADGET!
I think its THE BEST your video in 2010 year =]
Eu Realmente... Kara... Show esse vídeo!!! Bom, acho que a gravação foi pausada... deve ser.... Meu, você é o Kara! Parabéns pelo teu trabalho!!! Me divirto Muito com Seus Vídeos! Deus Abençoe Você!
Oh wait, you must have a whole bunch of identical siblings and you gathered them all together for this wonderful musical vid.
@06lellis how does he interact with different objects? such as the washing machines in the beginning and the shots of him while the camera is walking up the stairs through the bars of the staircases?
@x3TiffanyLynn Good idea, but what about 0:12 when table isn't straight? Elevated in other side next to the post.
I have watched every mgm video and every behind the scenes and it seems that mgms workstyle is to not take the easy way, such as the set the world on fire video with the phones, he did that all manually when he could have just green screened it. It is Joe's style to not do things simple

Haha, love the guy in the back at the end :)
That's actually pretty good, makes a lot of sense :D
Excuse me while i have a nerdy rant about how this is made XP

AMAZING JOE ^^
OH the good old times ❤️
hahaha i love the inspector gadget at the end
Guys, pay attention. Hes working with freddie wong. Freddie Wong can do magic
Magic. Definitely magic.
I wish I knew how to do videos like this....
Where you are in one spot and then the camera moves and you are in another spot without joining two clips together. Know what I mean?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
0:56 where's the behind Joe playng the guitar??
simplesmente FANTASTICO!!
you simply superb
@finder85 Thanks man... I am glad i am not the only person who thinks like that... Also if you notice this video was about a month after freddiews video "jamming with my 3 best friends"....
that was amazing man, VERRY nice and impressive trick, unless ofcourse you own a portal gun from the future, then it's not a trick. aaaanyway, theese vids/musics are grealty enjoyable, many many kudos to you.
greenscreen, while the camera stares at the green screen Joe, the real Joe goes through the stairs and stuff.
