Jrs the reason I loved Superspeedway Racing back in the day. But now, I miss watching him on the big tracks more than I thought I would. Haven't had that dominant Talladega/Daytona driver before or since that magical run in the early 2000s.
He was really good at Restrictor plate tracks but his Dad Dale Sr was the best. There is a reason why they called Dale Earnhardt Sr "Mr. Restrictor Plate"
And some of that is on Larson. He admits he hates it. I think that is partly why he has never won, he does not put energy into it like he does speedways and short tracks and even road courses.
I knew Dale jr with the AMP #88, i was like 9 years old back in 2016, y meet Nascar with a videogame called Gran Turismo 5, but i agree that the Bud #8 was and it's very iconic
I believe the 88 a very important car in the sport, but there’s something about the 8 that is just different. Maybe the font being the same as Dale Sr. I’m so glad it’s coming back to the Xfinity series for 2025.
Starting with the 2001 Pepsi 400 is just heartwarming and iconic to NASCAR fans. Long Live the Intimidator: Dale Earnhardt, Sr. This one's for you. Your son is a champion, in his own right.
Just because years ago his late father and Michael Waltrip had been friendly rivals with each other. And I love the way Michael paid his own respects to Junior for lots of victories he got.
Dale was so masterful at moving back and forth between lines to stall out their runs when he was in the lead. Miss watching him work on on the plate tracks!
Dale Jr won 15 plate events points and non points and Xfinity events he ran in from the 2001 PEPSI 400 to the 2004 EA SPORTS 500. I got into Nascar in 1999 so trust me when I say he was in every sense almost unstoppable at Daytona Talladega during this span. Straight dynasty. Hasn't been a plate driver remotely close to being as DYNAMIC or Goat as Jr was during his peak.

Nascar has ruined the excitement of racing. Too many restarts. The whole Wrecking on the final lap rules stink. It's a terrible rule implementation, and has nothing to do with safety. The field being frozen stinks. Bring back racing to the finish line on final lap, regardless of wrecks. And I HATE Stage Racing and playoffs.

You got Austin Hill in xfinity.
Jeffrey Earnhardt if they'd give him an opportunity
Dale Jr. and Tony Stewart worked so well together at superspeedways.
Best superspeedway racer. Being a Larson fan now is so different. All the tracks I’d root for with junior it’s completely opposite with Larson.
You don't know Cole Trickle and Rowdy Burns? Lol

Me too after Earnhardts Larson my driver
That Bud #8 was just as iconic as the #3
I agree with you sr and Jr are the reason I started watching NASCAR.

Sr
He won 17 at least. 10 points races in Cup, 7 in Nationwide. Think he won 5 duel races, two Bud Shootouts.
Sr was the best. Stewart was 2nd then JR

Goddamn I wish JR hadn’t gotten so many concussions and could’ve raced for a bit longer. So fricken fun to watch.
All superspeedway for dale Earnhardt Jr
And today you'd hear tv go "and at the line it's Jr."
Dale Jr is a legend of super speedway
The Pepsi 400 in 2001 was the only race I’ve ever been to where the fans were louder than the cars.
In my mind.. Dale Jr is the best driver to never win a cup title.. it’s too bad he never could capture that glory.. but I think being Seniors son was a LOT on him
Dale Jr, Carl Edwards, and Mark Martin in no particular order
Mark martin definitely a great racer who deserved a cup. Great ambassador for the sport.
Being dales son and the head injuries for so many years before he actually began to recognize how severe they were
@@jmoneill3 yeah Mark was a cool dude.. definitely need more guys like him in the sport in this day n age
I miss the order going across the screen
I’ve always said this.
Sr mastered Talladega. Jr nearly got to his level at Dega.
Jr Mastered Daytona. The track that gave Sr the most fits.
When racing was real .
He basically admitted on his podcast at the engine for that Pepsi 400 and the car didn't really pass inspection but NASCAR let it slide
Good go #8 dale Earnhardt Jr and #88 dale Earnhardt Jr
The absolute king of speedways in the early 2000s
7:40 ive always wondered what part of the car that camera was positioned at because it looks so strange and unfamiliar
The Earnhardts and petty families really dominated Nascar
Aint nothing like the sound of those gen 4 cars when running wide open at Talladega and Daytona.
It's stuff like that pepsi 400 win that makes me believe God exists. I mean you literally couldn't script that whole situation.
100%
Yeah !!!!!!🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁

Great video but what about the 2004 Aaron’s 312? Hear me out. Yes, Truex won the race but it was Jr’s car and Jr pushed him to that win. So Jr won as a car owner.
And in the tandem racing, he pushed Jimmie Johnson to the win
