I agree with your comment. However, the same truth about the illusory self has been taught by countless Masters, countless times. But, Master Rupert Spira demonstrates it to us and it for the first time is received by us, experiencially. Before it was mere words. Now it is a living experience for us. The menu describes the food. But you can't eat the menu. We have been reading this for years. Even Rupert has been saying it for years. But here and now, we go through the process of trying to find the "I" that is hurt and the search comes up empty, yet we are convinced that it is still there. But Rupert shines the Light of Consciousness on the search for "i" and we ultimately realize, "it just ain't there. Many psychologists do a fantastic job and are well needed to those not ready yet to let go of mental constructs. I introduced a few friends to Ruppert or E. Tolle, they couldn't resonate with that at all and preferred to continue their cessions with a therapist . Each to their own path
Just take a moment to reflect on the importance of what he just said. An entire life of suffering, not knowing why, has been washed clean. No spiritual master, no guru has elucidated this teaching with such simplicity and grace. How thankful we are to Rupert and to the Internet.
All you people saying like he is the next guru.... all that he is talking about is irrational fear, like an "what if" type of fear that exist only in your mind....this is nothing new....you can find this in psychology for sure....
Wish I was taught not to fear emotions as child. I am learning now at age 50 to just feel the sensation and not to fear or avoid it. And I have layers and layers built up. My legacy to my three grandchildren is going to teach them this at a young age. 🙏
Who is having regrets? Find it, or better said, see that its not really there again. Regrets are also just emotions that are directed towards this illusiory self. Hope youre doing good.
Saying “Thank you” feels so insufficient right now. I was really battling with crippling emotions of hurt…. This video is healing me in real time. Bless you!
Thank you Rupert for your slow but sure explanation of our ego self and the Self of our Advaita Vedanta. One has to be really brave to follow and realise this ultimate Truth of the Self and Brahman. Kamal Tolia, Nairobi, Kenya
The little “I” or the ego which identifies with the body. It’s separate, an illusion, sometimes this imaginary world is called the maya, same as Shakespeare saying the world is a stage and we are all actors. It’s truly amazing and humorous to truly see and feel this.
This video should be made a part of high school curriculum- it would stop suicides, eliminate stress and empower the kids at the right time of their life‼️
I have tears of JOY running down my face, Universe you have had mercy over me. I finally found the key to access YOU 24/7, to HAPPINESS. I finally know the taste of that PEACE now. For so many years, decades I did not know how and where to go to find it. I will not CHANGE THAT FOR ANYTHING, FOR ANYTHING, IS LIBERATING, REAL TASTE OF PEACE, REAL HAPPINESS. Of Universe, thank you!!
I have so much respect for this HUMBLE Man!! What a gift! Thank you UNIVERSE, Thank you Rupert!! You are a PROPHET of this TIME. And NO I am NOT Idealizing any body!! I just saying what is TRUE!!
While I sat on my toilet, a mosquito 🦟 came buzzing and stole my peace. As it annoyingly buzzed around my ears, I patiently let it, as I quietly asked myself, “who’s that I that is annoyed?” I failed to find that I, and there and then, I became nothing. I then l handed this hand to the mosquito and let it drink, because in that moment, I felt that the mosquito and I were one, nothing.
Whilst I don’t agree with all of Ruperts metaphysical views and approach to science, his approach to self enquiry is so precise it’s breath taking. What a truly great teacher.
i found this video very helpful! the man i loved hurt and betrayed me without thinking twice about it and i felt so much anger, hatred and such deep hurt. the emotions were so strong and painful i felt like i couldnt live with myself :/ but through self inquiry, when i look deeper i find that the me behind this story isnt actually there. like its simply a story, but i dont feel identified with it like i used to. what he did to betray me i now see as something that "just happened" but theres nothing fueling it anymore. its quite liberating. when you realize it, its like a complete change in perspective. im so grateful for this video! and if you guys are going through something simular just know that it will be okay, and everything happens for a reason. you will look back and be thankful.
In my experience after i truly see and experience the non-existence of the "false I", every related bad feelings to that are gone. In your case after you really see that the I is not there, there is then no subject for the identification. There will be no misidentification, as there is nothing to identified with.
One Ten Thousandth, teachings like Rupert’s and others do point toward a misidentification with the separate self (using thoughts) that causes the sensation of suffering. Another teacher, Byron Katie has a simple method of uncovering the reality that our thoughts can, unknowingly, create for us. She’s brilliant!!
Why isn’t this commonly taught? This is true freedom from the neuroses that society burdens itself with everyday . I just find it strange that this message isn’t everywhere!
It is there. It's held in or resides in the cells of the brain and body until such time it is resolved or overcome. To say it's doesn't exist is to deny it because it is real in so much as it disturbs you in the moment.
Werner Erhard and est was in some ways similar to this process of understanding the ego, but it was far more confrontational, less scientific and compassionate. But, then again, it was a system built for a less knowledgeable and refined generation. We used it back then, but didn’t understand it. In fact, the mechanics were never fully explained. But, the results were the same. Watching Rupert is like going through that est Training a second time, 45 years later, but this time being in the shoes of the est trainer, fully knowing the mechanics.
Amazing video. Could relate to it 100%. Such clarity... I feel that I am getting intoxicated understanding the subtle meanings conveyed in this video... Hats off to you Rupert....
Really appreciate Rupert's amazingly deep yet simple insights. More of us need to operate from this level. Away from assertion, reactiveness and validation - toward stillness, trust and love.
Wow, an excellent question, and what a great teacher Rupert is, a mean really, the explanation is so clear. He is firm so the person asking can travel that little piece of the path by herself but just guided by him and then even by watching a video, one can perceive the love, the wisdom from him, amazing! Thanks a lot Master!
I love this , i just felt a huge lump of pain in my heart and then realised that it is not me and I do not need to defend this feeling as if it is me, I real break through for me thanks so much.
If the separate self is not real, then where does it come from? Why do we devote so much time talking about it and experiencing it and trying to recognize that it is not what we truly are? Is it part of what Rupert describes as "veiled consciousness"? I love Rupert, some days my finger is right on the button, and some days it seems far from the button...lol.
I think the separate self is your conditioning your story your name and your emotional body or pain body as Elkhart Tolle calls it,. this video really helps dissolve pain if you watch it and use it when triggered.

That which is upset is the image of yourself, a set of beliefs you have identified with and take to be who you are. Who I truly am can never be upset.
Hi. I have a question. Is the upset here that he’s talking about is the ego self? I think she said ego but rupert said no?

this guy is in another level. he never runs from difficult questions but solve it miracoulously .

best of all time.
