Creating Dungeons and Dragons stat blocks for the Gen 1 Pokémon starters #dnd #roleplayinggame #ttrpg #pokemon #anime #charizard #blastoise #venasaur #charmander #bulbasaur #squidle
Dude i would love to see a full DnD kanto pokedex, I obviously understand that this stuff takes time and effort but damn it would be cool as a dnd campain
I think you should do some weak/baby ones that most people probably wouldn’t bother to make stats for and just kinda shove into a flavor pet role. For example Togepi might focus instead on “conditions” (charm person from cuteness can go far in this category lol) like hold person because of how in Smash it can cause status effects
Nice video, only thing that's kinda weird is how you made charizard, a base 100 speed pokemon move at the same speed as squirtle. I know dnd makes small sized creatures move at 25ft but zard at least is medium size.
This was awesome!I think doing one (or 2) mon of each core type in gen 1 would be amazing. Like ghastly for ghost, geoduck for rock, and I’m voting cubone for ground :)
These are nice, for the squirtle line though, I'd have personally had the player start out picking a bludgeoning, slashing or piercing resistance at Squirtle's base form, then another when it becomes Wartortle, so that the resistance gap between it and the other two isn't so jarring until it's fully evolved, as Bulbasaur and Charmander start off with resistances that later become full immunities
should do this for all of them then get permission from Pokemon Company and the DnD guys to print an official game set for it all🤗might be fun😊or at least the starters to get the ball rolling lol
Maybe I'm doing it wrong. Are they not the average damage? If it is not, I would always like to improve my home brewing skills!! How is it supposed to be done?
@@The-DM-Smith it's mostly that your bonuses are off. Things like your health and damage bonuses. Take the guard stat block, it has a +1 from con so it's health is 2d8 +2 (the +2 coming from the con being added for each die.) in comparison to the knight who has a +2 from con and 8d8 for hit dice making its bonus a +16. For the damage bonuses from attacks that's typically always based on the strength or dex though in rare cases it could use other stats but you might want to note that. Again you're doing great but always room to refine a craft ay?
Firstly, love the concepts. Second, surely there should be some damage vulnerabilities, like blastulae should be weak to lightning and Venusaur weak to cold. Third not sure if it’s the best design to have 2 different saves for the water cannons. Could just be that if you fail the Dex save you get pushed back. Finally I love the idea that as beast, you can polymorph or wildshape into Pokémon
You make great points. I like what you said about the water cannons, and with the vulnerabilities, I wanted to give some to them too, but I couldn't decide what to give charmander, and it seemed unfair
@@The-DM-Smith yeah I see what you mean. Fire is normally weak to water, rock and ground, none of which have good analogs in DND damages. Water element is usually associated with cold damage, but then you get the weird thing of fire being weak to icy attacks. Ground and rock are definitely bludgeoning but so is a regular stick. It does get a bonafide weakness to lightning/electric in its last stage at least
I just found the channel via this video. Personally, I think it could be amusing to see you do some videos based on Eevee and its evolutions; I said videos because I doubt you want to try taking Eevee and all its evolutions on in a single video, at best, Eevee and its 3 original evolutions could be a single video, with the next set of videos having 3 or 4 of the evolutions in them as well, with a quick disclaimer at the start of the following videos regarding Eevee and its evolutions to let everyone know where all these guys are coming from.
I want you to know before I'm that guy that this is very cool. Now to be that guy: a 9 in a stat is a -1 rather than a 0, good rule of thumb is (difference from 10)/2 rounded away from 10
I was thinking it would be base cantrip damage. Maybe stronger for charmander just because fire is normally made to be stronger in D&D because FIREBALL
This is your video so I will only say great job with these guys. But if you feel like knowing the small diffrent pick I have then press "read more" otherwise overall I think these are super cool. Bulbasaur: Instead of Moonbeam there is actully a spell called Sunbeam so you could use that instead. Charmander: It´s line should have had a claw attack instead of tackle cuz doesn´t know Tackle. Squirtle: It´s first form, pack tactics and high charisma cuz we all know why 😎😉and for Blastoise I would just make his AC 20 and replace Tackle with Slam cuz Blastoise always sumo each other for turf. Plus slamming just sound more heavy then just tackle.
I think that the starters first forms has a bit too high an intelligence. All the general ones starters are more or less just animals, so none of them would happen intelligence higher than three.
@@nettlesandsnakes9138 yes they are, despite what some people want to believe The Pokémon Company has consistently shown them to exhibit human level intelligence. They never were ordinary animals.
@@andresmarrero8666 no, a lot of Pokémon are just animals or plants or an animate objects. There are plenty that do have a decent amount of intelligence, even some that are smarter than humans, but most Pokémon and more importantly the ones that we are actually talking about here, I just of animal intelligence. If you’re basing this off the anime then you shouldn’t always believe that.
@@nettlesandsnakes9138 the anime is as important and connected as the games. The Pokémon Company doesn't have a priority when it comes to different parts of the franchise. Consistently they have shown and depicted pokemon as being as intelligent as your average human especially with the starters. Some pokemon are a whole lot smarter than humans but none are dumber. Pokemon were never just ordinary animals and that hasn't been the case for the past 20+ years.
Squirtle should have the highest charisma. Reason: Squirtle Squad
Seconded.

Yes, I agree the pokedex entry's alone make for some interesting campaign ideas 💡
I second this idea
There used to be one for everything up to unova but Nintendo shut them down

You should make their mega firms as well!
Always nice to see DND content that is good and well thought out.

New Crossover Creation Channel?
I don't even care what your doing, I'm subbing instantly.
My interest in D&D and Pokemon is just a bonus here.
You should totally do their other forms
Squirtle line should get cold resistance to reflect water pokemon resisting ice attacks.
That Is a great point, thank you
This is a real cool video. Love the concept! Though your derived numbers are a bit off so that could be confusing for folks using the stat blocks

I swear to God, if charizard turns to be a dragon...
I would've given Bulbasaur the highest strength bonus. Ash's Bulbasaur was always doing the heavy lifting with its vines.
Nidoking!

I am surprised that you didn't give the Bulbasaur line leech seed given that they are very well known for using that move.

NICE! something that isn't one piece ^ ^
Giga Epic Cool Pokemon Dungeon Dragon Cool. im love u!!
Squirtle should get ice resistant
Charizard is not a large creature, it’s shorter than I am; It should be medium.
How many damage does charmander's and squirtle's cantrips?

Charmander, Charmeleon, and Charizard should have claw attacks.
Also, you kinda made Blastoise... really weak compared to the others.

They have repeatedly shown that pokemon are generally as intelligent as your average human. They just don't act like humans.
