A tournament with all of the champions playing each other should be one of the most prestigious events and they’re wearing shoot out style polo shirts, they should be in shirt and bow tie in my opinion.

Ageed, I can't stand this new fad of trying to make players look like scruffy advertisements as if that's going to make more young people suddenly like the game... The people who make these marketing decisions are complete dolts. Snooker is snooker, it is what it is and you can't change it to make it appeal to more of certain demographics by making it look more scruffy and plastering ads on every inch of the screen. Nor can you attract more folk with attention deficit disorders by putting time limits on shots with annoying beepers going off all the time. Even just on a fundamental, basic level of reality, marketing teams these days think everything has to be made to appeal to everyone...not only does it not, but that is literally impossible...things are different, people are different and different things appeal to different kinds of people. That's a plain fact of life and this modern data and algorithm-based marketing culture of desperately trying to change everything to appeal to everyone in the world is insanity and can only ever result in the destruction of things, not improvement.
If they actually want to make snooker more popular, they have to accept what it is, embrace that and, erm...you know...FUND MORE QUALITY SNOOKER CLUBS AROUND THE COUNTRY! I'll tell you what most people do not have any access to whatsoever, a decent snooker club to actually play the game...if people can't really play a game much for themselves, on proper quality equipment, then how are they going to really get into the game? They aren't. That's the answer, and that's the biggest reason snooker has always had struggles with popularity. What was different in the 80s and 90s heydays of snooker popularity? There were way more snooker clubs...the big tournaments on tv felt like more of an occasion and the advertisers of the time at least put some effort into designing the arenas to looks smart and elegant without just a hundred of their logos plastered everywhere.
I can't stand marketing departments they are clueless, and these days they now are all operating purely according to what the data and algorithms tell them to do anyway.

@@AD-kv9kj well said mate I particularly agree with paragraph 2 of what you’ve said. I play once a week in a pub setting, not so much a snooker hall/club. Children are not allowed on the premises as it’s a pub so there’s no where really I can introduce and teach the basics of this great game to my son who is eager to play. I learned the game where Ken learned it, in Jason’s snooker club in Dublin but that’s long since closed down and nowhere really like it has come back. I know there is other places that are not as easily accessible

Jimmy White is the Benjamin Button of snooker. Thinner, more hair and darker than he was 30 years ago
