yeah, possibly so, it's just sad she didn't speak Afrikaans and show that Afrikaans is a language which accepts people from different backgrounds. It's also so similar to Dutch ua-cam.com/video/2n9UYESqdqE/v-deo.html that it would be interesting for the viewers to hear a Dutch person speak Afrikaans. She's almost implying that Afrikaans is not for the wider world (thought you've thoughtfully uploaded subtitles) and that it's only spoken by native speakers and nobody can learn it. The town itself is also an Afrikaans speaking town, so it'd be a recognition of that heritage. Why are Dutch people so incredibly Anglophile, almost dismissing Afrikaans?
      Still, enjoyed the video, thanks.

My dad's father (my grand father) was born in Calitzdorp, and my father always wanted to retire there, so he moved there about 27 years ago. They bought a house, fixed it up and seemed to enjoy it. I visited them in Calitzdorp about 25 years ago and we did all the Tourist stuff, I even bought them a giant bottle of Port from one of the local farms in the area. The bottle was signed by the whole South African Cricket team and right at the top was the signature of Hansie Cronje, he was so proud of it. They seemed to be happy there and it looked like the perfect place to live out life and be buried there. At the time I was working in the Middle East so I was pretty much cut off from their day to day life. After a break of a few months not hearing anything I phoned them and they were back in the town in the Eastern Cape were they lived all of their lives. When asked, he said that getting accepted in Calitzdorp was very difficult if not impossible, and after watching this little video it is abundantly clear that not a lot has changed, you can hear their "stories" and opinions and it speaks of what is going on there and what my parents told me. Both my parents are still alive, being in their early 90's now they have come to the end of their life's, but now they live in a town that has been over run by people from Mozambique, Nigeria and other African Countries, they even outnumber the locals. They live in an old age home behind bars and very rarely set foot outside of the Home because of the rate that old people in that town gets Murdered in a barbaric way. This is the end of it, this is what a place called Calitzdorp did to them, in all of its spendour and glory and the unwilling ness to accept new comers it is still part of AFRICA, and as far as I can see the wave of Insanity and Barbarism still has to hit home there and believe me, it will. It is just a matter of time before you will have to put everything you love behind bars to make sure they are still alive the next morning. And for Gods sake don't ever move there, You will NOT be accepted unless you are willing to bend the knee and kiss some backsides.

I have been living here for 8 years now. Two points: there is such a lot of "incomers" that they form a local community of their own. That said, I made a lot of friends and acquaintances here from the "old gard" that I feel quite at home. Hence I cannot quite agree with the comment.

The port this area is in my opinion far superior to the port from Porto, I drink it on a regular basis.

Maybe she chose not to. Most people speak 2 - 3 languages and swop between them.
