    THIS STORY:
During the afternoon hours of July 21, 1985, Kristina Wesselman left her home on Cypress Drive in unincorporated Glen Ellyn to go to the Jewel Grocery store near her home. She never returned home from the store. At approximately 11:15 a.m. the following day, her partially nude body was discovered in a field between her home and the store. She had been sexually assaulted and stabbed multiple times.
An extensive investigation into her murder yielded no results and the case eventually went cold. The case has remained active since then. On September 10, 2015, the DuPage County Crime Laboratory informed detectives from the Sheriff’s Office that there was a DNA match through the Combined DNA Index System (CODIS) that identified a specific person as the contributor of the DNA profile obtained from the sexual assault kit performed during Kristina’s autopsy. Further investigation led by the Sheriff’s Cold Case Unit with assistance from the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office led to Michael Jones of Champaign, Illinois.
On Friday, September 18, 2015, authorities from DuPage County traveled to Champaign, took Jones into custody and returned him to DuPage County to face the charges against him.

The Angel face you see is the Haserot, named “The Angel of Death Victorious". The stoic angel is seated on the marble gravestone of canning entrepreneur Francis Haserot and his family. Holding an extinguished torch upside-down, it represents a symbol of life extinguished. Wings are outstretched and the gaze is straight ahead.
IN THE END, DEATH ALWAYS WINS. LEST THE FACES NOT BE FORGOTTEN...
This channel is focused on casually walking and viewing a handful of the thousands of forgotten names and faces at various cemeteries near and afar. Seeing their faces up close. And when able, telling the stories behind their names.
Most graves are unknown and lost to history.
    Some are famous.
    And some infamous....
    ....and some with tragic endings.

I like the fact you don't mention the name of this animal. Such a sad story. I am a father of 2 daughters and I am so blessed. They are both grown now with kids of their own. Life is good for me, I just wish it could be good for everyone.

Kristy was a classmate of mine and I had the privilege of having classes with her and getting to know her as we grew up in an awkward time in those middle school years. I admired Kristy and always thought she was one of the nicest kind girls in our grade. She just was so kind and proper and a nice young lady that I had the honor of knowing as I was growing up. I'm glad that they finally caught the sick evil person who should never have been on the streets to begin with. May God bless the Wesselman family.

But God Blessed them with a healthy son, who just turned 24 in Feb. My niece was one of the first babies be buried there. Her brother is beside her. Its almost full there now. So heartbreaking.

I had to take a class when I was about 25 and the bus let me off about 45 mins before the class started. The building was beside the oldest cemetery here in Knoxville, TN... so I would go stroll through the cemetery to pass the time. I'll never forget when I came upon a headstone that had the famous quote upon it...
" Remember me as you pass by. As you are now, so once was I; As I am now, so you must be, Therefore prepare fo follow me."
It really hit me & has stuck with me since. At the time I didn't know it was a famous line, but I thought whomever put that on their headstone so long ago must have had a good sense of humor in life.

Very rarely have I ever subbed to a channel in which I watch ALL of the videos it has, one by one, all in a row, in chronological order, starting from the beginning.....
... only about 2 or 3 channels I'm subscribed to, out of the 100s that I am, have I done that....
Yours is now one of those. I've watched all of your vids, in order, from the start, not skipping over any.
Course, that's only about 8 or 9 videos at this point... I still have two years of your vids to watch now, at least 540 more.
it'll be a long journey for me, but I know I'll find it interesting every step of the way. I love the idea behind this channel and you're kind to make it. The stories are all interesting and you tell them in a nice way. I have these mini marathons where I watch 3-4 of your videos over about 2-3 hours a day now, so I'll watch a few more tomorrow, picking up where I left off here.
I probably won't reach your most recent ones for a long time...but I'll periodically leave comments on some vids, here and there, to pinpoint where I am, exactly, in your history of vids.
    Thank you for the channel.

Two days a week I teach at a local county jail. People tell me it's not dangerous there, but where do you think the bad people go to await trial...local county jails. Then when they get out, they are allowed to come to our Adult Ed classroom. We have whatever kind of felon in our classroom. It's much better in the classroom (safer feeling and there are bathrooms...never seen a jail bathroom...I hold it!), but it's still dealing with these kinds of people daily. It's a hard job that does not pay well. The point is that I know first hand that bad people are let out of jail, regularly. They go back into society, and not all straighten up. We have a young man now, (registered sex offender) that keeps disappearing in the middle of the day to do whatever, and then returns right before he is supposed to be picked up by his parents. Since he is 19 and not doing anything IN the classroom, we have to let it go, legally. I am allowed to call his mom and say he left, but there is little I can tell her about his progress in school, or anything else (if I knew, which I don't, because he is an adult). I worry about what he is doing when he is out and about...it's really worrisome. The system is broken. The police should care that he is disappearing (follow him, maybe), but they won't do anything until there is proof he is doing something, so he comes and goes, and who knows who is being hurt in the meantime.

I live 2 towns over and know this area well. When I first read about Kristy's case, I always assumed that Kristy lived in one of the houses closer to Butterfield Rd. (Rt. 56). It was always an assumption. I thought she walked West to head home. I'm so glad I found your video. Now I know. But man, Kristy walked a lot further than I thought.

The baby row was so touching. My Mom lost my little brother at birth, and at the time, my parents couldn't bury him in the Catholic Church Cemetery since he hadn't been baptized (ridiculous 1964 rules!!). So he was buried in an unmarked grave in a section that's set apart in the cemetery. When my Mom passed away a few years ago, we added an inscription in memory of him on her headstone, so that he wouldn't be forgotten. I also got his death certificate from the state so that the family has an official record of him. I hope Jeffrey was the first person Mom met when she passed over. Usually when a baby dies at birth, they just put one date, indicating DOB and DOD are the same. Bless these babies.

That creature who murdered Kristina didn't get away with anything, right now he's learning the art of 'tossing the salad' prison lingo for...you know what; so nasty I won't say it.

@@FacesoftheForgotten I used to say we need to bring back 'hangings' but I have changed my mind. They should bury them alive in a secret place, not in a cemetery or a graveyard and without a marker.

No the trees were still big in the Valley then, they are even bigger now. This neighborhood was planned in the late 50s/early 60s and built in the 60s so the trees were already 20 years old by the mid 80s

This girl died because the judicial system was soft on crime and failed to protect the public. What really hurts my heart is the idyllic way Kristina and her mom were all set for old movies and munchies when this monster waylaid Kristina. Thank you for honoring Kristina with her story and with the gorgeous flowers.
