Such a good episode 👏 I feel like I’m just realizing that I’ve been a little biased and even gate-keepy when it comes to queerbating bc yeah I wanna protect my community but that community also includes those who possibly aren’t out. This really opened up my mind and perspective while ofc educating me a little further~ and ugh the ending is such a healing thought I hope we can grow further towards that reality ever day 🥹💜

Okay this was my first time watching and you were all insightful and definitely left me thinking. I can't overload this comment section (but I kinda will, sorry, LOL). I have SO much to say about this episode I could talk to you three for DAYS! A few things I will say are that as a Queer late-bloomer, I'm still anxiously trying to find my place in this world. With regards to a Queer Awakening, mine is strange because it happened little by little over time as I grew up, but I think because of the way I grew up (sheltered, California girl, born and raised, with a devout, but not zealous, Black Southern Baptist Christian mother) I NEVER let myself even think to embrace that as a part of my life. Even though my first kiss was with a girl when I was nine. Last year was the year I finally came home to myself and said, "Yup, I'm Queer." And it felt so good to embrace that part of myself, but it's also terrifying because now I have to tell my mother...so there's that. My sister knows, and another close relative of mine who is also Queer, and has been my Northstar throughout this chapter of my life knows. Before I embraced this part of myself, I was always a strong believer that Queer people really shouldn't have to "come out." And I still believe that, but the world doesn't. Like Shannon said, people should just be able to be who they are. The people responsible for MY longggg QA are: Michelle Rodriguez (Girlfight, anyone????)I was OB-SESSED with her when I was a teen, and I looked for ANYTHING she was in (NOW I KNOW WHY). Angelina Jolie (Foxfire and Gia are everything), Rooney Mara as Lisbeth in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, K. Stew (Her performance as Joan Jett!), and most recently as of last year...Lynn Gunn (gorgeous, goofy, edgy, sweet). I would say more about all you talked about but this comment is already WAY too long. Sorry! Also one MORE thing on the topic of Queerbaiting in films, there's a 1961 black and white film called "Homicidal" that has an interesting surprise Queer twist. I don't want to spoil it for you all if you ever want to try to check it out! But I watched it with my mom, and it was an unexpected twist, that's all i'll say.
Wow so much good stuff in this comment thank you for sharing! 💕 I agree with you we shouldn’t have to come out and hopefully one day we get to that point as a society. I’m so glad you were able to find yourself and have people on your life that are supportive and can help guide you or give advice. Telling parents (especially religious) can be tough so I do wish you all the best in that process and hope it goes well for you. This is why representation in media matters so much! If we don’t see it in front of us we often remain confused about ourselves when we only see heteronormative examples of love and relationships.
