  • How to cut costs?, If I can make my own #beardbutter, will that save me money? Let's find out.
After trying this #beard Butter out I decided to remove a tablespoon from it and remelt the batch in hot water. I added the same amount that I removed with Shea butter and the texture become less soft and more workable, I also added some more drops of the essential oils.
If you fill up your beard butter in a glas jare, you can always remelt it and add more Shea butter or carrier oils or essential oils if you like.
Here is the final recepie for approx: 250ml (8.5 oz):
1.8 dl (6.09 oz) Shea butter
    0.4dl (1.4 oz) Safflower oil
    0.4dl (1.4 oz) Argan oil
    7-10 drops of cedarwood
    4-7 drops of Pine
    5 drops of Bergamote
    ------------------------------------
Melt the shea butter in a double boiler
    Add the carrier oils
    Add the essetial oils
Fill it up in the glas jare
    Let it cool
    -----------------------------------
    Costs:
    Shea butter 50SEK (5.3USD)
    Safflower Oil 9.9SEK (1.05USD)
    Argan Oil 80SEK (8.5USD)
    Essetial oils 11SEK (1.2USD)
    Total: 150SEK (15.9 USD)
The Argan oil is the most expensive ingredients, for the next bach I will only use the safflower oil. I also will try to add some bee-vax to the mixture... just to feel the different in the texture.

I've been mixing my own beard oil for the past 18 months in order to save money. The consistency of your homemade butter looks close to what I've been using. Going to give it a try soon as I'm out of my store bought product. Thanks for the vid. 👍

I tried making your butter, but I messed up pretty badly and accidentally went over by and ounce on the butter and around an ounce under on the oils. It turned out pretty hard, but I'm still able to use it by hitting it with my blow dryer for 30 seconds or so. I went with equal parts of shey, avocado and cupuacu butter, which may be part of the problem. I'm going to use it up and try again once this batch is gone.

Are your oz measurements by volume or by weight in the description?

It’s by volume, I use the metric unit for volume and convert it to oz for the description.

Forgive my ignorance. What unit is a dl?
I'm familiar with ml & grams from making ecig fluid a long time ago, but haven't come across a dl.

No worries 1dl is one tenth of a liter or about 3.3 fluid ounces

@@FiveAcreHomesteadI have metric & Imperial on all my Pyrex/Anchor brand measuring cups, so I like being a lil more accurate.
Actually, I just converted your recipe to weights and am about to figure the weight difference between Shea vs Mango butter since I only have cocoa and mango butter to use.
Converted to ml (0.4dl x 100 = 40ml) before switching everything to grams online. 👍

Great video dude! Remember beard oil before beard butter. Oil is for the skin and butter for the hairs.

      @@user-ne9wp8ve5u Thank you E
I always use oil first, pure almond oil then I take some beard butter, I actually have leftovers from the batch I made back then. Thank you for your words and for watching my video.
