  • Are you looking for a beard balm recipe that contains coconut oil and shea butter?
List of carrier oils and essential oils: beardgrowingpr...
Here I'll show you the ratios I use for a hot climate and perfect hold for your beard!
    Ingredients:
    0:43 - Bees Wax
    1:18 - Shea Butter
    2:27 - Jojoba oil
    3:02 - Coconut oil
    3:30 - Essential oils
    Tools:
    5:22 - Glass bowl
    5:32 - A metal pan or pot
    Method:
6:23 - Place water in pot
6:27 - Sit the glass bowl in the hot water
    6:40 - Melt wax 14g
7:53 - Add Shea butter - I think next time I'd add more shea butter to make it a little softer! like 20 + grams)
8:50 - Add other oils (Coconut and Jojoba oil)
    9:55 - Essential oils 5 -10 drops
    11:27 - Pour into containers
    12:00 - Final product
Let me know how you make your beard balm!

As my beard gets longer, I find that I rarely use balm anymore. What I do use nightly is beard butter. I make my own with similar ingredients to your balm. No beeswax of course. For the butter I melt the same amount of shea butter & coconut oil (solid). I melt these in a Pyrex jug in the microwave. When they are liquid, I add jojoba oil, argon oil, caster oil & hemp seed oil. I don’t bother with essential oils. I pour the mixture into a glass container & when it returns to room temperature, I have my butter. My beard loves it.

I’ve made my own balms for years, I had issues with them feeling grainy. If you have this problem, put your tins in the freezer immediately after pouring them. Since I did this I’ve had no issues with grainy balms. Great video!!

Not sure if anyone pointed it out or if you have change the method but a Double Boil should have a bowl that sit ON the RIM of the POT. Having the glass straight on the pot bottom defeats the purpose of a double boil, although yes it will still lower the chance of burning. If burner is to high it can still happen.
    BEARD ON!

If you lay a wash cloth in the bottom of the pan, you won’t take a chance of breaking your bowl plus no rattle noises.

It's gone harder on top due to the fact that the wax will slowly rise to the top as it's setting , could maybe mitigate this buy popping it in the fridge? Thanks for the video , great info. I will be trying this next week when my order arrives , cheers.

Nice video. To avoid direct heat damage, shouldn't the glass bowl not make contact with the bottom of the metal pan?

The water acts as a heat sink so draws the heat away...it would be better if the glass didn't touch the bottom...

Great question. The water should as enough as a sink sink that it'll regulate the temperature better. Steam can get hotter than 100 degrees but it would help

Would cocoa butter be an suitable replacement for beeswax?

    • @matt7matt722

It would most probably, be more of a replacement, for the shea butter.

I'll be honest the internet has conditioned me into hating essential oils cause of "those" people. hahaha
I've just started growing my beard about 4 months in. still stuck to my face atm. should I use something like this or should I wait till it's longer

Obrigada
