She met the girl she gave shoes to at 6 and wrote a book based on her diary from that time at 9; she made the commitment to perform barefoot sometime when she was 7 (there is a video of her performing when early 7 with shoes.. the only one - between then an NGT she made that commitment). Here she tells her shoe story beautifully: ua-cam.com/video/-cCLDY0CSZ8/v-deo.html

Here is a quote from Angelina (7y) from an interview with TV2 after her Auditions NTG 2014. "The reason I chose this song is completely random. I love jazz, but" Gloomy Sunday "was random. It was a night I could not sleep and my mother was stressed that I was awake long after midnight. Then I borrowed my mom's iPad where I wanted to listen to jazz on UA-cam before I fell asleep. Then came a picture of a beautiful lady screaming at the sky and with her eyes closed. I heard the song "Gloomy Sunday" that night and then I had to hear it every day. I love the melody. I understood well what the text was about because I know English well. Every time I sang it I felt something special about it, it's hard to explain in words. When I sang it for mom, she said that this song is nice, but that it was incredibly sad song. " ♥👣👸🏻🎷
In a interview after this performance Angelina's mom was asked why she was crying during her performance?? Were they happy tears??
Mom said; " They were happy tears but they were also sad tears because I know I just lost my daughter to the world. ♥👣👸🏻🎷

"Bang, Bang" is the first public performance I know of that AJ had with live accompaniment -- and IMO (given her age) is one of her best. "Summertime" is even better -- really, almost flawless. The difference between her NGT audition at 7 (which was astonishing) and her final NGT performances at 8 (just a few months later) is the most remarkable advancement in confidence and technique of any singer I have ever heard. I don't know what happened in that interval (except that one of her front teeth grew in), but just look at her interaction with the guitarist and the trumpet in her last two performances. In those few months, she became "The Boss".

After winning NGT, her parents insisted that she enjoyed a normal, or as normal, childhood. She and her parents chose only 10% of the requests and turned down offers by labels. With 180+ covers and 5 originals, she's simply golden. She's performed around the globe, and she's performed for Heads of State, such as Obama, and music greats such as Quincy Jones. She's performed with Noah Jones, Alan Walker, and shared the stage with humanitarian aid groups for children. Each year, she appears at Norway's jazz festival.
When she (13) stepped onto the stage of America's Got Talent, The Champions, she blew everyone away, Simon included, with her arrangement of Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody." Not only was she awarded a golden buzzer for her audition, but she was congratulated by Queen for her performance. Queen went on to award her with the copyright to her version of their song. The web blew up when she wasn't advanced to the final 5, citing a requirement to sign with an AGT affiliated label. Angelina even turned down Disney. Angelina (14) signed later that year with Republic Records, who gave her full artistic control. Both parties shared the vision for her music. America will graduate next year at the age of 17. Her next album is expected to be released soon, but there are no details.
Seriously, your next one should be her performance of Screamin' Jay Hawkins 1956 hit " Put a Spell on You". Angelina's ability to arrange the music and lyrics of her covers has been present since "Gloomy Sunday." Her black and white studio performance has been called a masterpiece cover of Jay's song. So, at 9 years and 2 months old, she will blow your mind, or at least cause your brain to slowly leak out of your nose and ears. It begins with her writing down changes to the song and has her holding up a candle with Jay's face on it. The rest is simply stunning. Be sure to watch this B&W studio cover from her official channel. After this one, skip ahead to her performances on AGT.

I am just glad that she signed with someone who has given her creative control. SyCo was never going to do that neither were Disney so hopefully Republic Records stick to their word. Daz, she was for years in Norway, only when 12 years old she had to move to LA. The story says her old music academy could not teach her anything new. After winning NGT in 2014 she was invited to sing outdoors in a TV show, so all Norwegians could come to know her, a few weeks after that fateful performance, she was declared National Treasure of Norway. (NO JOKE). This is like being ennobled in England. In Scandinavia, not only in Norway, it is seen as an honor to work with Angelina (again No Joke). Pro musicians, after working with her nicknamed her lovingly and full of admiration THE BOSS. You sir, have a nice weekend, stay safe, sound and happy. Elmar from Germany.

Scandanavians have a way of celebrating their talents a lot more than us Brits do. There is so much competition in the UK that most raw talent goes unnoticed which is a shame. I believe the move to California was after signing with Republic Records. Republic and her family (including Angelina) asked for a special contract that said they would wait to introduce her formally to the "Music Business" until she's done with school. So 2-3 years is how long she's been there in CA.
By the way .. all the kids in the competition have to sing something a capella. There is also no reactions from the judges on this part of the show. She is .. extra-ordinary .. for sure.

  • @JezaGaia
    @JezaGaia Рік тому +22

She moved to the US at 12 and a half but she was used to travel there often, I believe because of her father's job. She was already pretty close to fluent in English at 8 yo
The second song, I'm a fool to want you is also a billy holiday song, in that second audition as you noticed they got all the kids singers together and they had to perform either accapella or using an instrument themselves as accompaniment. It's not her best song of the competition, IMO that would be summertime, but it's my favorite it's simply mesmerizing.
There are many other songs to react to but she covered this one again at 11, it's on her only album that was released when she was 12, and there is a video of the recording in studio that you should react to : ua-cam.com/video/SGx0djXTXQk/v-deo.html
I would recommend you try to react somewhat in order by age to see her growth
There are other videos but the most memorable ones in order would be :
Fly me to the moon live on the view at 8yo ua-cam.com/video/nBGMQ9Kx9iI/v-deo.html
I put a spell on you by screaming jay Hawkins (not the hocus pocus version) that she covered at 9yo live in studio, her own arrangement : ua-cam.com/video/nwFloCPXzCs/v-deo.html she never ever sang it the same way again, not upbeat but not slow either, very intense.
Feeling good at 10 yo in concert ua-cam.com/video/p8kAL-sGJx8/v-deo.html
I'm still holding out for you recorded at 8yo and never released officially but leaked later by a fan ua-cam.com/video/Dv8mjCh5iiE/v-deo.html
Then the one I was talking about, I'm a fool to want you studio recording at 11 1/2 ua-cam.com/video/SGx0djXTXQk/v-deo.html
And finally one that is not on my list usually but you were wondering about an upbeat song, so here is her cover of "Something got a hold on me" at 11 in concert ua-cam.com/video/TCc4Yjri3pc/v-deo.html

If you knew how hard she worked to develop this “born talent”, you may give her a little more credit. She wasn’t born with the ability to sing like this. What she was born with was an incredibly high musical IQ and the physical talents to be able to sing like this and a work ethic second to none. She also is an empath with a desire to spread love throughout the world with her music. She not not only is an exceptional singer at 16 years old

but she is also a philanthropist having raised over 20 million dollars for charity at such a young age. Miss Angelina Jordan Astar is young, beautiful, talented, humble, singer, songwriter, arranger, multi-lingual, plays piano and guitar, loves her family, and by all reckoning is highly intelligent. Norwegian, Swedish, English, Farsi, Japanese, German and now Spanish are languages she is known to have either spoken, understood or sung in at some time in her life. Pretty impressive!

Someone may know better than I, but believe she remained in Norway until around age 13 (naturally she probably traveled back and forth some as well). Amongst her many performances you will notice a great number of intimate performances with just a guitarist. In Norway Egil was that guitarist, and in California Ivan.

  • @ronraskind

It is always fascinating to go back to the beginning to see where she started. They're actually a few other videos that go back further. Age 6 doing Adele Hello in studio, and at the same age approximately doing Tom Jones I who have nothing. Further back at age 1 and 1/2 in the crib is when she started singing Whitney Houston! You may know some of this but I thought I would repeat it anyway. I saw the Darcy Lynn audition when it happened and that audition changed her life forever!
Who is Angelina Jordan? She is a 16-year-old gifted vocalist who won Norway's Got Talent at the age of eight! More importantly, she is a committed humanitarian who gave away her shoes to an orphan girl at the age of six, and whose goal is to bring peace and love to the world. Her humble and grounded values have inspired me, and with her music, have captured my emotions, and have impacted the way I view my life. I eagerly await her first album of original music with Republic Records, and also know she will continue to devote her energies to charitable causes. I trust that reactors and fans alike will interact with Angelina's videos and channels, which should be linked on the description page, to boost her algorithm. I know she would want the same consideration for each featured artist. Angelina is destined to become a superstar, both musically and as a human being, and you as a reactor and we as her fans can help her achieve those worthwhile goals. Peace and Love.

Most 7- 8 year olds are singing "wheels on the bus go round and round" not Jazz songs from Billy Holiday or songs from Sinatra or Gershwin...a pure music genius/prodigy right here before your eyes....We millions of Angels already know this after following her for many many years. I can tell by the look on your face that you do get it, what you are witnessing here is a once in a lifetime generational talent that we all need to respect and enjoy. Just so you know, after winning this competition at 8 years old she donated the majority of the 50K USD monies to childrens's charities and since this show has continued to help raise over 22 million for charities. The second song I'm A Fool To Want You is also famous from Billie Holiday's performances of it. It's really one of her signature songs. If you close your eyes and listen to her sing acapella you can hear how her voice fills any empty hall with such haunting tones. You hear a completely naked version of a voice and you can hear all the nuances that make up her sound.

Keep in mind that she has a hand in all the arrangements for songs she sings if not arranging them. Also as talented as she is she works hard on her singing. Every day. She lives and breathes music. Sometimes she doesn't sleep well and gets up to work on her music. And upbeat? Try her original song Seventh Heaven.

Hi, Daz! Thank you for reacting to the three NGT performances. As others have commented, you will never be dissatisfied with a performance from her.
Although I appreciate that a video has been created amalgamating of all three of her NGT performances, the downside is that there are no English subtitles for the Judges comments. And that for me is a great disappointed because watching a Reactor responding to them is the "icing on the cake". Sol, here are the individual videos which include the Judge's comments/
age 7 - "Gloomy Sunday" (Billy Holiday)- Audition -ua-cam.com/video/d3gSho9yf88/v-deo.html (English Subtitles)
age 8 - "I'm a fool to want you" (Billie Holiday) - Judges' Cut-Off - ua-cam.com/video/LXknLZDoRVQ/v-deo.html (No comments by the Judges)
    age 8 - "Bang Bang" (Nancy Sinatra) - Semi Final - ua-cam.com/video/pcBoB49Gxn8/v-deo.html
age 8 - "Summertime: (songwriter George Gershwin. Angelina's performance in the style of Ella Fitzgerald) - Final - ua-cam.com/video/stwF4ti1tbc/v-deo.html
Of course, if at sometime in the future you feel the need to react to them, many people would be very, very happy. 🙂
I note that there are numerous requests for you to react to Angina in "Beast" mode. So here is the link for you.
    age 9 - "I put a spell on you" (Screamin' Jay Hawkins) - ua-cam.com/video/nwFloCPXzCs/v-deo.html
Yes, Darcy Lynne-Farmer is very talented. And as you mentioned, ventriloquism, I feel the need to mention Nina Cont with her alter ego Monkey. Her performances are rather raunchy but, in my view, she is up there with the best. As a person who was born in the UK and lived there until the age of 31, I appreciate her wit and "This is who I am. Like or love me, the choice is yours" attitude. It is very refreshing in this politically correct world in which we now live. Pick a song she recorded from 7 years old to 16 years old and you can't go wrong. I'll suggest one I know you will enjoy very much, Angelina singing 'My Funny Valentine' at 10 years old sitting in a chair at home. She has recently (16 yrs old) recorded another version of the same song. There is certainly a difference between the two. The more recent version in a word is spectacular! What about the 10 yr old version? Well, a lot of us regard the younger version as spectacular X 2 !!! Some reactors put both versions together on the same video and it works very well.

On the surface it sounds amazing but one has to listen to the original being sung by Billie Holiday to really understand how impossibly incredible this first performance is. The second one, also a Billie Holiday song, she captures us in the first line. At that age, pitch perfect, in her third language, without music. The third one she walks to the mike with no wait time and does what she does, sings beautifully with amazing feeling and inflections. Summertime speaks for itself, wow. Her foundation is in jazz and blues so yeah, most of her songs will be slower, heartfelt, and often about sad or heartbreaking situations. But she has also added other genres. Good reactions. Continue the path of discovery to even more amazing things. You're almost ready for her "I Put a Spell on You" ua-cam.com/video/nwFloCPXzCs/v-deo.html but you need to get your mind right and buckle your seatbelt. Most have to listen to it several times to make sure they heard what they think they heard. But relax and take deep breaths. She arranged this herself at 9 years old from the original by Screamin Jay Hawkins. This has long been considered one of her premier, more than a performance, experience.

The songs she chose are still remarkable to me. I like that there was no consideration given at any stage to exploiting the cute factor by doing a Shirley Temple or even singing something familiar to a high percentage of voters. We know Angelina was greatly influenced by her grandmother's musical tastes but even she was only 2 years old when the most recent of the four songs Angelina covered was first recorded. To nevertheless win with nearly 50 percent of the public vote would almost be a miracle if the sheer talent she displayed were not so other-worldly.

It's not everything that was broadcast, but it contains all the competitive performances I know of that are available on YT.
