I was fortunate enough to see John Denver 2 times in concert. Always loved his music. It was a theater in the round. Very intimate setting. The second show I attended was very special. John left the stage, but didn't leave the venue. The majority of people left to go home. A small group of fans waited behind. My family and I did too. We waited next to a chain link fence. You could see the mobile home the stars stayed in. You could also see John's tour bus. We all wondered where John was. He must have been tired. We seen the band members getting their things together to prepare to leave. All of a sudden a person came out and started to walk towards the fence. It was hard to contain my excitement. It was John Denver. He was upbeat and smiling. He didn't hesitate to shake people's hands. The closer he got, I couldn't believe I would be face to face with John. A man that had been blessed with the gift of writing beautiful songs and being able to sing with a voice graced by God. John finally got to me, said hello and shook my hand. I was such in awe, I could hardly get the words out. I managed to say hello and thank him. I have photos of that night that I will cherish. Rick, I have only seen you on video. There is no doubt that you look like John. You talk and sound like John. You even laugh like he did. I can honestly say that you sing like him. I'm glad you decided to share that gift by doing John's songs and your own songs in concert. There's people that missed out on seeing John in concert. There's people like myself that wanted to see him again in concert. Then that tragic day came and we would never be able to see him again. With you, I'll bet that within minutes of the start of your show, people's problems fade away. They are transported to a different time. They can once again experience the magic of John Denver through the gift that God gave you. Please keep up your shows. I hope I'll get a chance to see you in concert. God bless.
thank you so kindly!!!!! what a story you told!!! John is really awesome!!!! There are so may wonderful experiences folks had with him!!! gracious man a d blessed!!!!
I just re read this again, it was so beautifully written and such a wonderful story!!!! I really just want to thank you again for your gracious comments and encouragement!!! I honestly live John’s music. For those like us, it’s just so fun to enjoy our memories together. Mine are with my family watching John and listening! And with me singing John’s songs too. It’s just beautiful what God is doing with his music and mine too. :-)
mr.shuler. I'm a musician. of course a Denver fan. named my kid Denver too. i took it real bad when he died. i still get emotional listening to I'm sorry, rhymes reasons and others... this may make no sense at all... the hurt and that painful reality that i will never ever have a chance to hear him live or meet him someday... has magically disappeared today as i sit on my couch in tears. I've discovered you. Greetings from Malaysia. thank you for being you.
I have been a super JD fan all my life. I also am a vocalist who loves to sing his songs. I have listened to various performers who try and capture the very essences of John, although they have come somewhat close, they could not make that impact. YOU, Oh my Goodness! If I have never believed in re-incarnation, I do now. You not only capture the vocal style, but the way he annunciated and vocal nasal sound in his voice along with that sweet vibrato. Also, to top it off, you actually sound like JD in your speaking voice. I say, WE JD fans miss him dearly each day, but you are truly keeping him alive in his music. Thank you so much for letting us enjoy your God given talent. I am a serious fan from this point out. I hope to be able to hear and see you in person some time soon. Let God and all his creation guide you
Hi Freddy, you go to my website for my tour schedule at sunshinerick dot c om. thank you for your gracious comments!!!! I love John’s music and I especially love to write and sing!!!!:-)
Greetings from Colorado ! It has been said, we all have a (similar) double. This is so true. I had just graduated from college back in 1976, got my first full time job, got my first apartment, and one evening visited a neighborhood bar & restaurant. I went in and sat down at the bar; the owner happened to be sitting there, and we introduced ourselves. The barmaid came over and asked what I would like and then stopped dead in her tracks. She asked me what I was doing in there and started ranting and raving that I had left her, broke her heart, and on and on. Both the owner and I were stunned. She was crying, threw down the bar towel she was holding, said she quit, grabbed her purse & keys, and immediately left never to return. P.S. I also worked one summer break as a dish washer during my college years and another teen that I worked with was also a JD look-alike - face, glasses, hair.
You are such an inspiration! Warms my heart to hear John come alive but you have your own story of Glory wow! I am in process of using music, poetry & spoken word to tell my own story...it is called Felon Love & I came across a John Denver song that he never recorded but sang at concerts. Title is Wandering Soul-Love is the answer! Check it out it speaks volumes! Your welcome! May God continue to bless your journey!
Wow, this guy really looks a lot like John Denver and sounds like him. As a major fan of John's, it would irk me to see some guy wear a blonde wig and put on granny glasses, and suddenly, he's supposed to be John Denver's double. The bone structure of this guy's face, especially around the mouth, looks exactly like John's! And his singing voice, even his speaking voice, is so much like John's that it's eerie! However, his picking style on the guitar isn't the same as John's.
Loved Denver back when I was younger and still to this day. I am just so very confused when it comes to this kind of "cloning". Allthough he sings and performs perfectly, it just crosses the line between entertainment and creepy bad taste. John Denver would not have liked it, that's for sure!
Hi, I don’t perform John’s music perfectly. There is simply no one performs like John in my opinion. I’m sure your interest in artistic expression will find a better match. Thanks for listening:-)
No. Just no. Being a fan and loving his music is one thing, but cashing in on a vague resemblance and "touring" when the voice is nowhere NEAR the quality of JD is another. If I need a JD fix, I'll fire up my Apple Music library. Got to be friends with Steve Weisberg, who played with John for four years and ended up sitting in with tribute bands. He was very gracious about the various guys out there trying to look and sound like the 1970's version of John - never had a bad word to say about any of them. But I can't imagine he got the same thrill - or "yaya's" as he put it, sharing the stage with caricatures.
Rick I don't know if you can act...but if you can...I think you can performer a serial or movie about JD life, and this way you make justice to John, Chat Lowe movie was really bad, a disaster...regards
yeah, we are talking about it. I saw that movie and hated the way John was portrayed. John is worthy of the very best as he is STILL the best of what America has ever produced. in my humble opinion
Oh my! Incrediblly aligned with the spirit of John! Makes my heart sing!

John Denver met the Dutch version of himself - it's on UA-cam- and kept saying, "Far out", and seemed so pleased!
John Adams ?

Almost sounds like him. So close.
Sorry, the voice doesn’t cut it.
lol
You can't be serious.
@@mcaito dead serious
I agree with you there's a guy called Chris Bannister, he doesn't look like John but he really sounds like John.
