Ok, as a Spanish native speaker I swear to you that there’s nothing wrong with saying Spanish names with a Spanish pronunciation. I prefer that people call me by my given name pronounced correctly. That shows that you care enough to hear and learn how to pronounce someone’s name.
I cannot fathom a time in which Alexis wasn't a full-time co-host of IMHO.

I'm a little sad that you meshed all the episodes, cause watching you ladies have really been a highlight, but i really can't fault you with all these seasons just being thrown at our faces all at the same time (although if it were up to me, I'd prefer single episode reviews of espana as the superior season, and a combo review for the all stars 😈)

Maybe that got lost in translation (I’m Latin). But Dovima didn’t blame Sagittaria for anything, she said that Sagittaria deserved the spot in the competition more than she did. Spaniards and Latin people deal with more guilt when having dirt on people and using it against it.
And other thing that might got lost in translation, Dovima kept saying that she didn’t want to look ridiculous on the show, but later on took the risks like her character on the series and the stand-up because she said “I already made a fool of myself, now there’s nothing to lose” but I’m not sure if those CC are translating properly. Lol.

Yes she had insecurities but the thing is, her and Sagi were in bad terms with their friendship and I think she truly did that to prove that her friendship with the girls were more important than winning the show. Me as a latina related to that, we don't have that core of competition mode like we see in Drag Race US...

You know, I actually have to disagree here. To me, this feels more like something cultural being lost in translation, because I see myself a lot on Dovima's and Inti's more "hot headed" / "emotional" decisions, and they feel like something that I can see happening more in southern, hot countries where acting by impulse/emotion is something you see more
I was watching some old IMHO and Darby really paints so soft and gorgeous now I love that for her

Today. Today of all days, you tell me to let out all my anger. Today, I have been thinking about a story I heard recently, told by Thich Nhat Hanh, but I am going to re-tell it in a way that resonates with me. I am holding a cup of coffee when someone bumps into me and coffee splashes out every direction. Why did I spill my coffee? Because someone bumped into me! No. Because coffee was in my cup. If tea had been in my cup, I'd have spilled tea.
Anger is like that. Life buffets me and anger and expletives pour out. Why? Because anger and frustration are what I have in my cup. If my cup had been filled with laughter, I'd have laughed and moved on with my day.
So all day today I have been remembering this story when I am confronted with life's little frustrations and annoyances, practicing so I can laugh at the bigger things when they bump into me too. I am remembering that my cup can be filled with laughter. An endless supply of delicious, nutritious, soul-nourishing laughter. So now, the anger I am letting out, sounds like laughter. Thanks for the laughs ladies.

My boyfriend who is Spanish told me that Drag Vulcano's aesthetic is actually what the majority of Spanish people think of when they hear "drag queen". Very over the top, festive, ready for carnaval.
By "spanish people" I guess he meant "the canarians"

Im a spaniard myself and that statement is very far from the reality. Drag in Spain is diverse, and if I have to pick one style to represent the overall idea of a Drag queen in Spain, that would be something more like Supreme Delux + the acid humor of Pupi. The Drag of Cararias is actually rare in the rest of the country
@@Anita_Dick take this with a grain of salt because I am just playing Devil's Advocate regarding the people Em mentioned, not Spain as a whole because my knowledge of Spanish Drag History is miniscule.
It might be that the parents aren't familiar with the scene as it currently is - their frame of reference could make sense, depending on how long ago they experienced the scene and if what is now centralized to Canaria might have roots in/been influenced by what the more widespread aesthetic was at that point in time. 😊
Again, what I said is a shot in the dark, but it could be a possibility? Also, depending on how long ago we're talking, local scenes were much more insulated than they are now that social media is around. I understand how a person, even as recently as the early 2000's could think that what they see when they're out is what they would see everywhere. 💞
@@TattooedScarlet518 could be... but they probably lived under a rock. The drag of Canarias is actually more popular in the rest of the coutry now thanks to the internet, that it was before. It has never been the model for Spanish drag in general, it was more related to carnival. It's still considered to be an important part of carnival, more than an actual drag scene. There were other nationally popular drag references before, that represent better what a dragqueen in Spain is: Almodovar movies, la Veneno (not technically a dragqueen, but the general public in the 90..you know) , la Prohibida, Deborah Ombres ( who was the first dragqueen tv host since the early 2000s)...
