  • This was a property I have had for a few years and it has not gone as planned at all. We have a new idea and hopefully this helps the property turn into less of an awful investment.

I know a guy that bought a property like this and he let the local fire department use it for practice. They burnt it down. Saved him some money in demolition costs.

Sometimes that works but not in this case. They did not want to do that here

Insurance companies and OSHA have stopped those practices. Too many volunteers have died doing this.

Your plan and logic made sense to me. You got it ready for a new owner by getting the crap work out of the way. It's the local gov that gets in the way of progress...for NO GOOD REASON. The new storage plan is a great idea!

Drop some sea cans on the fenced-in lot and rent them as storage. You can even pour a slab the width of a sea can and buy modified sea cans with overhead man doors that form smaller units. Have one like this, rural, does great.

When I hear stories of 70k for water I always shake my head. We have a housing shortage apparently. Well maybe just maybe it's because it's so hard for a person to build a new house. Maybe it's because the permit process is untenable. The same idiot politicians scream they want affordable housing but at the same time make it impossible to achieve. Rant done.

In many parts of the country there is demand for contractor temporary storage for contractors with ongoing projects in the area to store their equipment and materials to prevent theft during off hours at their unsecured construction sites.

70 thousand for just water and we keep letting millions steal residency that other countries at least sell for $500,000 a pwrson. Going to be tough for our children and grandchildren

Is there a need for actual storage units? I suppose it would be another city/gov nightmare. I think locked open storage is a great idea! Hope it works out well for you!!

wow I was just thinking about this one. At the time I was sad you tore the house down, but it would have been soo much work. Taking homes from a fully gutted state isn't the kind of work that you do so I understand why you did it.

Too bad that piece of land isn’t here in Texas! We have a shortage of places for truck drivers to park their rigs for short term purposes.

Hi, Mark 🖖Thanks for the update. I believed it'd been sold... Other comments mentioned security.. IMHO, along with the high fencing, go a step or two further. Build a small structure with working amenities and utilize the water rights. It'll go towards the security of the place. Rent it out, etc. The property can only increase in value. Await the possibility of a gas station, minimart, rest stop, truckstop.. if/when the council gives you planning permission. 🖖🙏

    • @investfourmore
      @investfourmore  Місяць тому +4

Water rules here. If you leave the property as is you might have been able to keep both but doing anything new they want to get rid of any wells if there is a tap available.

After watching your videos for the past couple of years I’m completely soured on Colorado’s government. If I were you I’d sell everything and I would move to a new state where it’s easier for you to do what you enjoy doing without all of the awful bureaucracy

What kind of things would people want to store there? Wouldnt their stuff be open for theft and vandalism? You better build a very tall fence with barbed wire and add lots of security features.

It's incredible to me how much of the structure can be compromised and the house still stands. I have to wonder that even if a foundation and subfloor is compromised, will the rest of the house still hold up?

Remeber this one. Sad to see homes going down but no choice not safe to reuse it again. Now putting up a privacy fence with a lock gate is a smart thing to rent it out for now.

Hey Mark - would you have had more flexibility if you had modified the existing structure? I know it was rough, but sometimes updating an existing building allows you move a lot faster with less permitting required?

Almost sounds like we would need Oprah's money, and a 21 year old's youth to actually do something with the property.
I think if you simply place a shed on the property, and that's it, that might help get it rented.
