This technique is so much fun. I used French silk paint on shaving cream to marble a silk tie. Fantastic looking shoes, Angie, thanks for sharing.
That's a brilliant idea!
These turned out super cute, love the colors! What in interesting technique!
Thank you! These were a lot of fun to make.
I love em! Yes to the stars. That's next level stuff. I've been wanting to do this too but also too chicken. I like the idea of leaving them in the dye.
Thank you so much! Go for it - I was intimidated at first too, but I'm glad I went for it.
⭐️ Stars would be cool but they look great as is.
Thank you so much! 😀
@@FunEndeavors Thank you for the ideas & technique. Going to try it out on my next project.
@@PigRipperLAW Awesome, I hope you have fun with it! 😀
Nice! Definite galaxy look. I'd be tempted to sprinkle white paint on them to make stars.
Thank you! 🙂
Awesome shoes. I will have to do that with some Vans shoes I have! Thank you!
Thank you! 😀
That look is awesome. I had thought of the flicking of white just as you were saying it. I think they look great as is, although I probably would add the stars look to them since they did turn out to be looking a lot like a nebula or something.
Thank you! 🙂
I was leery about these would turn out, not a big fan of shaving creme dyeing, but these turned out super cool! I was surprised the inside didn't get dyed. I'm a vote for adding the stars, although they look great as is. You did a great job NOT getting any dye on the soles. Pays off going to thrift stores. I'm going to sour some when I really decide to dye. Thanks, Angie, great video, it did look fun and easy.
Thank you - I'm glad you like them!
These are wonderful! Love them with or without the stars! 🌌
Thank you so much! 🙂
I'm gonna do this method for my book signing shoes! So excited!
That sounds like fun! Best wishes with your book signing! 😀
@@FunEndeavors thank you!
This was so weird and cool! You come up with the most unique ways to tie dye and I'm always so surprised by many of the outcomes. Like shaving cream??!! My mind is blown lol
I can't take credit for this idea - I've seen others use this technique. It is really a cool one though, and I'm glad you like it.
Very very cool Angie I really love these my white shoes I’ve been working on for over a year now and it’s just the splatter from my sloppy dying I just did shaving cream socks about a week ago lotta fun enjoy the rest of your holiday weekend😁✌️
Thank you! The shaving cream socks turn out really cool. I hope you have a great weekend too! 🙂
I love them! Yes stars would rock
Thank you! 🙂
Those came out sick! I gotta try this technique! Thanks for the informative content as always!! Much ❤️ 😎💨🤙
Thank you - I'm glad you like them!
Stars would be a great addition!!!
Thank you! 😊
I think they came out super cool...stars sound cool...thanks for sharing n i will too
Thanks so much 😊
I really love these and would wear them!
Thank you so much!
I love it, it turned out great!
Thank you so much! 😊
Would some bleach or acetone/rubbing alcohol help get rid of the dye on the sole? Otherwise you might have to get some masking tape if you were to do this again.
It might - I haven't tried anything other than the magic eraser. I'll have to give those a try though.
I love these so much!!
Thank you so much! 🙂
Love the shoes! I’m like you…..scared to spend the money on shoes and have it turn out ugly. Now I have courage after watching this. I wouldn’t add the “stars” to this pair. They are great just the way they are. When you do socks, do you leave them in the shaving cream for 24 hours also?
Thrift stores!!! I bought a new pair of keds at one for $3!
Thank you so much! I was intimidated too, but I'm glad I went for it. That's one reason why I went and bought an inexpensive pair of canvas shoes from Walmart to practice on.
I didn't leave the socks in the shaving cream. I took them out of the shaving cream and put them in one of my containers that has a rack in the bottom to process. I'll post that video this week some time. The socks turned out looking really cool too.
@@FunEndeavors I can’t wait for that video too. Love the content you make and share with us. I’m a much better tie dyer because of you. ✌🏻❤️🤙🏻
@@waydownyonderhobbyfarm8316 great suggestion! Thank you. I’ll check one out and see what I can find.
@@karenlehnert8333 I'm so happy that you like the videos.
Wowowowowow! Very cool!
Thank you so much! 😀
You are such a tease! Now all I can think about is chocolate meringue pie..............
That's too funny! It's one of my favorites.
Those shoes are pretty and fun! I do like the idea of adding stars on them. Not sure if I missed some info by looking rather than listening, but can you explain why the paint didn’t adhere to the white rim around the top of the shoes and the areas where maybe elastics is on either side of the tongue? I think that makes them look even better than if everything got saturated with the colors.
Thank you! I think it probably has to do with what the fabric is made of in those areas. The dye won't adhere to elastic for sure.
@@FunEndeavors makes sense. Thank you for answering.
I like them as they are
Thank you so much! 🙂
Could you do the same method with a t-shirt? Would you have to do one side at a time? I love how the shoes turned out ❤️
Probably. I think you would have to do one side and then flip it.
Those are awesome! Did you take the inside cushion out of the shoes before dyeing??? I l9ve those. I have yet to try the shaving cream but after seeing this, I may just have to!!!
Thank you! No, I left the insole inside the shoes. I think a little air bubble must've formed though and the dye didn't get into the inside of the shoes.
I love the way they are, no white please. 😄
Thank you so much!
I'm all for the white paint splatter to look like stars think it'll look great
Awesome - thank you!
Can I do this with cloth paint? And rainbow?
I've never tried using shaving cream with cloth paint. I think a rainbow would work though.
Super cool as is!
Thank you so much!
Yes add stars
You should do with a shirt. So you could have matching socks, shoes and shirt.
That's a cool idea! 🙂
Nyce!
Thank you so much! 🙂
They came out gorgeous!!
I did some hats and they came out of the batching tote with a thick layer of yuck.
Will definitely thin shaving cream next time
Yes, that happens. It should've washed off though. The first batch of socks I made I didn't thin the shaving cream and they came out the same way.
💜💙
🙂
I think maybe you should try this neat technique again, but maybe don’t tape up the soles. If that teeny bit of dye got under the tape, and you couldn’t get it off, maybe you’ll like the results if you just dye the white rubber too! As you’ve learned, it’ll stay on, even after scrubbing. It could look really beautiful!!!
That might be something fun to try.
I brush a thin layer of Vaseline on the soles before dyeing and it’s so much easier (and more reliable!) than the tape method! You *do* have to have a steady hand, because anywhere it touches will block the dye, but it keeps my soles PRISTINE through the dye process
Edited to add: depending on what dye method I’m using, I either put two pieces of duct tape (folded over on itself) on the bottoms of the shoes, or take a needle and thread through the stitching on the inside of the tongue/heel of the shoes to use as ‘handles’, so I can pick them up without touching the Vaseline.
@@MarlenaMarley87 ooh this is good to know, thank you! I'm gonna do this method on my book signing shoes but want the embroidered design to be untouched.
@@mollycblaeser if you’re using Vaseline over fabric/embroidery, put it on THICK, and put it on the inside and outside of the fabric. You’ll have a bitch of a time washing it out afterwards, but it’ll be less of a pain than trying to get dye out of embroidery, and less heartbreak than your shoes being ruined!
@@MarlenaMarley87 sounds good, thank you so much! We were gonna tape the area, but this sounds more precise!
How do the shoes hold up, colorwise, after awhile?
I'm not quite sure. I just made them this week, so I haven't had them for long. They've been washed in hot water though, so I suspect they will wear really well.
Not white paint - Glow-in-the-dark paint!
Brilliant idea!
And unfortunately you have some spam in the comments Angie! Ugh.
Yes, I have to remove it from every video I post. The spammers post so much on my UA-cam videos, they must be awesome tie dyers. 🤣
