I was a WCW fan from the literal birth of of WCW from NWA and JCP. I was so sad when the final Nitro ended. I really hope they bring it back
Only if it has that " reality" of the mid 90s minus sting of course.
What would they bring back that you would remember? Just the logo and initials. Wrestling has moved far past anything we lived through in the '90s.

@@ad206 I'd prefer they bring back the booking philosophy of the Nitro era. It would sharply contrast with the modern booking seen in WWE and AEW. I just got through with a rewatch of Nitro from launch to the logo redesign in spring 1999. That took me a few years! But it was so, so much better than what we get from the modern product, and of course very different in terms of booking but also how Nitro was structured, i.e. match length, promos, spontaneity, et. al. It will never happen though.
I think you could replay Nitro weekly on Network TV and beat AEW ratings
Yeah, if you end up with too much TV time, don't do another Thunder. Just play reruns.
Shows like Saturday Night and Worldwide are always welcome though. Nothing like that nowadays.

If WCW came back, the opening show should feature a lot of WCW Legends in some capacity. And even put them into a non wrestling storyline but still around for the first big phase to help the new generation connect as best as possible to the brand. But ALSO make a story where the WCW talent are fighting to have the name broken free from WWE , like a Survivor Series event but this time they WIN the "Invasion" rematch and become their own thing (in story) to create tension.
I think the spirit of WCW got a lot of unfinished business and I'd LOVE for it to return.
When the revival happens, because it will happen (?), they need to produce a webseries of WCW's greatness and legends, open up little by little to the newer gen. Combine both and it's a direct push.

What can Bankrupt Bischoff get done except constant failure? Bankrupted himself twice in his life, bankrupted Sonny Onoo, bankrupted every single business he ever started. Heck, he went to court because he's a Cuckold and failed at keeping that a private thing, lol.

If WCW came back they would have to use the right style ring. It would have to had that sound.

The padding and canvas may have dry rotted. Those need replaced anyway.
The frame and ropes and turnbuckles are made out of steel. They'll be fine indefinitely.

The only way a revamp of WCW works, is if they focus on 2nd generation superstars like they said. Bring back the old titles too. This is a good idea.
You could take the US title with them, and switch to the old belt.
The Tag Titles are part of the old WWF World TagTeam Championship, which was retired. Perhaps bring in the last team to hold that title and/or the last team to hold the actual WCW title and just have them defend it once like nothing happened.
The World Cruiserweight Champion is either Hornswoggle or whoever was the last guy to have it on 205 Live. I'm not sure if those are the same title or not. But Hornswoggle could probably be talked into a one shot or a cup of coffee.
I have no idea about the TV Champion...

Wouldn't work, it would just be WWE writers laying out a WWE show using WWE talent in a WWE ring with a WCW logo.
I haven't watched wrestling since WCW 2000 when I threw in the towel. If WWE relaunched WCW I would tune in
The other wrestling companies I have watched (TNA and AEW) have been pretty much because I've wanted the closest thing to WCW. WCW is still what I'd really want back if I could. Even if the only way is technically through WWE since they own it. Just having the set, presentation and style like WCW was would be something for me, and if they could bring in whatever wrestlers they can that have some connection to it.
I would be 100% down to watch this. It wouldn't have the McMahon stink on it like ECW reboot did. But like ERic said they need some connection to the original. Build it around Bron. Get some of the 2nd and 3rd generation talent floating around (Davey Boy, Von Erichs, Brock Anderson, Dynamite's nephew and so on) put Pillman Jr on it. Give it the old original logo back. Would be fun
It would only be WCW in name. Not even debating the quality of the potential new company. But it's like there's that many old WCW stars where still active to bring in. The few remaining WCW stars who're still active are all on the verge of retiring and none of them are working full schedules anynore.

Eric is right. As much as I would love a WCW return, I don’t think it would work unless there is a connection to the old WCW. However, WCWs time has passed.
It has to be with the WCW ring and original logo! If it doesn’t have the smaller ring specifically the WCW smaller ring with the amazing sound it made for bumps!! If it has a big ring it’s not WCW. Also WCW was always the example of southern style pro wrestling!! Stories with realism!!

Would love to have WCW again. I think it would be great if it follows how HHH's NXT was first presented, like exclusive to Peacock and only do shows in like in Las Vegas. Also, treat it not like a WWE brand.
Yes please! WCW getting revived is what majority of pro wrestling fans have always wanted. A lot of people stopped watching pro wrestling when WCW closed it's doors. The Ratings after WCW folded 100% prove it. AEW will never catch on because it frankly sucks and no one watches it. There is no hype around that show whatsoever. We want WCW back with the big gold belt and all the old PPV's but this is probably a pipe dream at best😭
WWE could at least do a WCW and an ECW PPV anniversary special since they own both rights to see how it turns out. This would definitely draw alot of attention and make great storylines in future events.
WCW Nitro on TNT would be a great pitch by WWE to Warner Media to replace AEW. WWE certainly has enough signed talent to make it work. WWE could even contract TNA talent on a per diem basis to fill in spots.
3:46 I think you could get former talent in managerial roles. Then like Conrad said, you got the people connected to the former WCW names. Throw some money at Tony Schiavone to be the broadcast guy. It is very doable, but would never happen.

The "connective tissue" so to speak would be an excellent start.
But to really make the bridge complete, they need to sign everyone they can who is still in the business who ever worked in WCW.
I don't imagine Jericho or AJ styles would wanna go there. But any number of others might.
You have to get Bill Goldberg as the first world champion to pass the torch, Eric as GM, a new Four Horsemen, Tessa, Charlotte, original Nitro opening video with modern and past stars, and the classic Nitro entrance way with the big steel WCW. Then snatch up some AEW names (Wardlow, Starks, Fenix, Penta, The Acclaimed).

I've been WAITING for the return of WCW since March 2001! Year by year, no reunion, no one night stand kinda PPV. We lost Dusty, Piper, Warrior, Heenan, Hall, Benoit, Eddie, Shane O'Haire, Kanyon, Kronik, Dafney etc. Vince 'sabotaged' WCW revival by having it relaunched in Taccoma, not Atlanta the next week!
Please make it happen already! DO IT WHILE Flair, Hogan, Nash, Sting, Goldberg, Paul Wight, DDP, Steiners, Booker T, Arn, Buff, Luger, Rey Mysterio, Jericho, Juventud, Psychosis, Malenko, Jarrett, Meng, Teddy Long, Sonny Ono, Shivoney, Tenay, Penzer & Bischoff plus Michael Buffer, even Dennis freakin Rodman is still ALIVE to witness it!
AEW/TNA/ROH should've rebrand into WCW as they did carry the WCW vibes for years!

Put good old JR back in a WCW commentary chair with Jerry Lawler! Even for one night. Higher Tony away from AEW and just give it a two-man booth after that because we all know that king healthwise I don’t think is up to doing anything that long-term at the moment. I agree that it probably won’t ever happen, but that would be really fun even if they did it for one evening.
Why not rebrand NXT as WCW. They use WCW names on their ple anyways.
The WWE should bring back wCw as its second brand. They should either change Raw or Smackdown into the wCw brand show. They already have Raw with the Worlds Championship on that show.
If not turning Raw into a wCw brand, then maybe they could put the wCw brand on the USA network.

If WWE relaunched WCW today it’s mostly for a few reasons
1. They want it to feel like a really brand war smackdown and Raw always felt like the same show if they changed smackdown to WCW it would at least be like oh yeah they feel different.
2. They want to run two different shows it would mean hey I want to feel really different HHH runs Raw aka WWE someone else runs WCW
3. Last they want a more wrestling feel less entertainment bring NXT into the big leagues of sorts.
Overall while I would kind of love it the move wouldn’t make sense it’s been to long no one from the old WCW would even be able to be on the roster well I guess Rey and AJ but yeah

NWA and WWE or rather WWF already worked together after Vince originally withdrew from the NWA.

AJ Styles, Rey and Dom, Charlie Dempsey, Lexus King, Brogan Finlay, Angel and Humberto, Natty, Cody. There's plenty of others to work with just from WWE currently than the few they named. Get Konnan and AAA on board and that opens up even more.
I believe WCW could be WWE's way to enhance relations with other promotions without the WWE 'stint' like, it could be its own thing with having wrestlers from other promotions join, just like AEW does (Of course, WCW did it way before AEW).
That line "You couldn't resurrect the emotion of the brand" should he enough not to want it to come back now.

Sting's son training to wrestle also has merit to get another WCW going.
It would just become another brand where all the talent from every brand flip flops back and forth. It wouldn’t truly be a separate WCW
Personally i think they should have brought WCW back instead of creating NXT. Especially given that the original NXT (black and gold) was very much a proper brand in its own right. Then they could have used the titles which would have been more prestigious.
And what would make it different than WWE?
If they do decide to bring back that promotion, then they can't call it just wCw. And they shouldn't call it Nitro because its sound better for NXT. Maybe, bring back Thunder as its new weekly show? But NXT Thunder and NXT Nitro do sounds better.

I just got to episode 181, why are there so many watch alongs now? I miss all the back story telling and shit within the build up and so on? These watch alongs are eh to those who listen while working. (Which I may add is prolly 70%)

I've always thought they should've had the Alliance win at Survivor Series in 2001. Give WCW its own show, show good faith and wrestlers like Scott Steiner, Goldberg, and Sting would've come in sooner. Also, for all its faults, late WCW did have a new generation of stars, while WWE wasn't building any. They slowly trickled a few of them out one at a time about 3 years later, but come on. You could've had guys like Sean O'Haire as your new big names. Loads of untapped talent fell through the cracks.
