One thing i learned from working in a shop was to stand off to one side when starting up a grinder as you never know who used it last or if someone has been working around the grinder may have bumped the wheel heavily enough to fracture it . I like the extractor hose you have on that grinder and will modify my bench grinder so i can hook up my shop vac when i dress the wheel so it keeps the dust down !
I've recently inherited my grandfather's grinder. The tool rests have obvious damage from contacting both the stone wheel and the wire wheel. The grinder model has been discontinued. Any suggestions for repairing or replacing the rests?
Well Marc you have an improvement on the audio although a body mic would surely make a great difference in sound quality. On the other side your videos are wonderful and I have learned so many small tricks from each one on things that I thought I already knew. There a wealth of information and I’m really grateful for all the additional knowledge, and as far as the singing goes? Keep that day job😆
Hi Alfredo! The covers came with the machine but if your grinder doesn't have lights you coud use small LED lights and get the same effect. I hope this helps, thanks for watching and for taking the time to write, Marc
There should be a guard under the support ledge, I put my finger under there once like an idiot.... took a hard rub.... IMHO they are all lacking in this safety idea. "Hey lets put a dangerous suck-in, open area immediately below where we put fingers, and lets hide it with the support ledge....

I think safety is very important but you go to far sir, When you say things like tape the plug people lose faith in your content and stop listening to the important safety tips that you do share
Hi Chris, it does sound radical to tape the plug on a grinder that is broken or being repaired. I would never do it in my shop because I am the only one using it. I was however a teacher for a quater century and got use to overdoing it, mainly because I had thirty kids working around me that quite often didn't master what they were doing (that is a polite way of saying that they scared me). I would say in my defense that there were some cuts and bruises in my classes but there was never a major accident under my watch. It is important to work safely, and what that means is different of each person and I don't think that most people will loose faith in the content of my videos but is is good that you remind me that I must remember that I am no longer in class. Not a Machineist, but tape plugs quite often in my line of work, if there is any chance of people trying to use the equipment before it can be repaired or removed from buildings mainly because of electrical issues. I have even cut off plugs if it is a fire hazard with the wiring all frayed or is being removed for salvage and recovery. I found out the hard way when Installed an out of order sign on a freezer and came in the next morning an someone plugs back in the freezer and the sign was missing. Guess they can't read. LMAO
I respectfully disagree. Spending all of thirty seconds to provide a visual clue to someone - or ourselves - not to hook up to power, is neither going too far nor radical. Instead, it is a good idea.

Never wear gloves..if they get pulled in between the wheel and the guarding they're taking your fingers along.

Did you really grind your 1-2-3 blocks on the pedestal grinder?? What ever for? I don't know for sure, but bet I would get fired for that. :-)
He has a video on making 123 blocks so possibly these are ones he made and he's just dressing the edges.

marc don`t put your grinder on a pedestal. he`s not worthy. :D i`d like to add that i was told never to grind a piece heavier than the grinding wheel.
