- Gold prospecting in a gold canyon. Canyon and creek is loaded with gold and minerals. We look for gold nuggets, sample outcrops, gold quartz veins, bedrock gold, mineralized gold rich outcrops along the way and in a bedrock canyon! Enjoy some mineral exploration deep in the mountians.
Part 1 - We look at outcrops along the way and enjoy some scenery.
Part 2 - We find gold, mineralized samples and explore the gold canyon. So stay tuned.

Educational video. It saves me from scouring the hills trying to find gold. From most of the videos people post I have found that precious metals are truly rare.

If anyone's curious, it's not as easy figuring out what Fools gold is compared to actual gold flakes. We left with a few, after a good 6 hours lol

That goes or accords to my college years where we were taught that coarse gold becomes visible at around 4gm/ton.

What amazes me is that a speck of gold falls to the bottom of a pan faster than other materials

Hey, don't know if you watch Any of Dan Hurd's videos,(he is also from B.C. like us),but not too long ago he bought some sun glasses that have a video camera in them that produce pretty good video quality! Might be worth looking into as it would be much easier for you to film your work without having to hold a camera and I would imagine you could get them with clear lenses. 😉 As always love the work and thanks for bringing us along😁

I have the same plan, be careful, i'm going to honing my skill in some easier lower elevation areas before i risk broken bone and bear attacks in Idaho.

Took a lot of studying intitally and getting them wrong before being able to identify them correctly. It will come 👍
Just keep testing yourself everyday... pretty soon you'll be good... a lot of info to decode but like a game once you learn the level it becomes easier and easier

Thank for sharing that's great stuff probably pretty course gold I hope with it being that close to the source nice stuff the area I regularly dig has half the oan will be black sand with the gold not wanting to get to bottom easy at all have to shake it like crazy to get it to drop

do you take these fines that you show us? Or are they too hard to colect out of the black sand?

Thanks for the great videos. It would be a great help to me and others if you could identify the minerals in the sample either by pointing or editing with an arrow. I can read and read but it won’t sink in or be retained, however watching and listening I get it and can retain it.

Pan samples a bit small if you were looking for gold, maybe you just wanted to see what other heavys were in the pan.? The gold could have been a little deeper down and your very small sample had nothing

Around 2 minutes 45 seconds there are some large black box like stuff in the rock I was wondering if you know what it is
Yes I believe what your seeing is Argillite it is a fine-grained sedimentary rock composed of mainly clay particles. There were a few in the center on the canyon area which have fairly straight edges.
Wouldn’t the best spot be downstream? Can you find nuggets in dark rusty / red soil?

Wow the rock specimens are beautiful. I Calco Pyrite with sulfides?
Chalcopyrite, pyrite, galena, Molybdenum and free gold mainly.

awesome, thanks for sharing. gorgeous location. just curious , instead of sending every small sample to analysis would it not be easier and eventually cheaper to powder the samples at home and use a handheld xrf scanner?
Eventually over time yes it would be cheaper. Two small issues. One being XRF analyzers and very expensive (20-30grand), also when every claim you have you have to apply a certain amount of annual work/$$ to in order to keep it otherwise you have to pay fees to the government. So we apply our sample analysis to each of the claims so we don't have to pay fees to the government always. An XRF would still be very handy, maybe is the future when the $$ permit it!

I'm very curious how you monetize the various minerals that you identify in your prospecting. The gold panning is obvious, but what about veins or other ore deposits that entail many tons of minerals to be removed and processed? Do you sometimes re-sell the claim to others who will process it, or do you do your own mining? If so, what happens to the mined material? (i.e. steps to physically move it, how it's processed, how you get paid.) Sorry if you've answered this before (please point to answer if so.)
We typically stick to exploration, we have two main focuses, first we are hired by individuals and companies for exploration programs, prospecting, geochemical, technical programs...ect. Second we have our own set of properties, we stake claims over areas with potential undiscovered and old deposits not fully worked. Do basic exploration and find enough to get a junior or private exploration group intrested to option or potential sell of properties. Mining out deposits is a small part of what we do scince 2011 we have removed around 50 tonnes only, we will only mine out small deposits with very high grade ore, we aren't set up to be large scale miners. Some of the ore we have removed ends up at a refinery and with private buyers.

So when you say you stake claims do you buy land that should be free for everyone to pan and mine or is this outside the us
Were in BC Canada. Here we have an online staking system were you select a claim cell if it's not staked pay a fee and you own either the mineral ot placer rights. You dont own the land or surface rights. If you stake a claim on private property you have to let the landowner know 8 days before with a notification form saying you will be mining/prospecting. No land owner can restrict you from entering your claim or doing work (although some do, logging companies put up gates and wont give you a key without a permit and fee). There are some restrictions like how far away from buildings you have to be though.

I have no formal training An old north Idaho miner who had travelled the world married my mom and taught me a bit about gold mining before he went his way ... I spent thousands of hours at fine gold placer back in the 80's / 90's moved to Alaska for a time ... back in Wash . Oregon , Idaho , Montana now semi-retired and learning to recover fine gold ( 100 to 300 mesh ) in paying quantities . Lots of it in this country . Not hard to find . Your vid's are teaching me alot about mountain stream gold and ore recognition

It is very beautiful, this is believe it or not 400 meters from the Canada/US border. It's a 4.5 hour hike in and 4.5 out for a 4 hour prospecting trip. There are huge steep mountains preventing you from going more than a few km over the border though.
@@911mining Well that & it's massively illegal to cross the border. There used to be a wagon road on the other side...that's how they accessed the mine on the US side of the border. Part of it is still there, with bits washed out...I've been up there from both sides of the main river.

Oh cool ok then ill be coming to canada. I prospect and am very good. But i like panning and classifying because of my autism. But is dredging free or do you have rules there too
You basically can't dredge in BC, you need a permit, conservation permission, MTO permission, has to be on bedrock with a 1.5" nozzle max. Not worth it really.
"MolyBENdenite"! Hahaha :) I think you mean "MoLYBdenite" ahaha I find that stuff a lot, but some of it looks more like Arsenopyrite I think. But if anything arsenopyrite is usually more closely associated with gold than molybdenite, so thats a good thing!!

Multiple depends on sample type. ALS Minerals is good for ICP testing, cost depends on sample prep, type how many elements, typically say a 35 element ICP is around 50$ CAN

If gold is stuck to the rocks like you first showed why not just scrape the rocks off into a bucket
Our bucket is our pan. It's a 5 hour hike in and 5 hours out, packing extra tools is a pain. The purpose of the trip is exploration and see the properties potential bringing tools in would just make our hike longer and limit our time there even more. We have about 3 hours of we don't want to camp over night.

I guess you didn't watch the whole video were there's definitely more than a few specks. No one has mined it cause no one has found it till now. Also most minerals in this area are found in sulphide form.

Dude, where and why are your prospecting? Are you prospecting a claim in order to stakeout a mining operation? If you're not on ground that can be machine mined, go home dude. Stop wasting your time.
We are a professional exploration company so we dont mine anyway we prospect, option, sell claims and are hired for exploration programs. We are in a very remote area 400 meters from the Canada USA border, which has had multiple huge mining operations only several KM away. Including some old workings on this property. Machines and equipment for opening mines can be brought anywhere with the right prep.
