Bob, a couple ideas for videos. Being retired from heavy equipment repair and welding I think these ideas would be helpful for someone looking to get into this type of repair. Show how to arc gouge, not only with a welder but using a torch with or without a scarfing tip or a modified cutting tip enlarging the O2 hole in the tip to 1- cut nuts off a bolt without touching the threads, 2- cut a bushing in a boss to relieve the fit to remove it, again without damaging the ID of the boss. 3- show how to cut off a bearing without damaging the shaft.4- Show how to weld a bushing or bearing race on the ID to shrink it for removal. Or like I have done many times is to use a 7018 rod set at a high amperage with a long arc to melt out a line in a brass or bronze bushing that is pressed into a steel boss just enough not to damage the boss but relieve it enough to tap it out. Too many people torch out something and think it is no big deal when they gouge the shaft on a bearing surface but it is, and it is important to repair that damage properly before reassembly. I know this is common knowledge to most in this type of work but some viewers may find it helpful. Thanks, Ed K Cleve. Oh.
Weld.com me again=^-^= the Roto table is really cool when you're using the pulse function. I use to pulse weld pressure washer belt guards. you can just overlap a little attack a bunch of them up put them in the little rotary thing and it would take off. just hold the torch at the right angle and run it as fast as you can. fussing. it would sound like Pac-Man ate a power pellet .we would race each other and see how fast we can get them done . it even looked like Pac-Man because of the V from the two pieces of aluminum. so I doing production Parts fusing on the rotary jig an anodized aluminum is the only time I've really gotten much use out of the pulse function maybe fusing stainless speaking of fussing stainless scratch start. oh and another neat tool was the Roto cutting torch. another cool thing someone showed me was a jig you can put on your torch and use the center punch of your circle to cut rings out of thick Plate. I'm thankful that these people showed me these things on the job so I can feed myself and I have the skill for the rest of my life. many are gone but not forgotten. ;0) yes I made me a replica the next day so I could cut them rings out. oh a lot of people used to use beam clamps what the point on the end of it hope that helps if you haven't done videos of it already. I don't know if y'all really get into the fabrication/ fitting fortunately or unfortunately I had to learn all that on the job
I spent 30 years out of the industry upon my return noticed the technology had changed a lot. Trying to understand what each function does and doesn't do has been confusing. I learned how to weld without all those fancy features. Then had the chance to try a pulse TIG and loved it as it assists in with old age shaking. Experimenting with every feature was interesting, I have found some features hardly make a difference. But I am still learning. It took me 6 months to get back into it again and back up to a standard good enough to do welds to 1st class pressure vessels. Your helpful hints has helped me to remember.
Thanks for the video! I don't know the name of this instructor but I'm a big fan of how clear he is explaining things and how down to earth, humble maneers he has for laying things there for us to see and learn. Sincere thanks!
I got this machine about 4 months ago. Selling features for me were-more dials with no hidden menus, Fewer membrane switches needing constant usage, (meaning less cracked membranes), 250 amps for easy .250 aluminium pudding, cheap price. I'm real happy with this machine. Inverter technology AC/DC is the real thing. This machine is not a cheap china toy, it's real good. It has all the bells and whistles you might need.
I'm loving these Everlast machines from what I've been seeing of them, from your videos and some other people's videos. It seems they can handle a lot, very versatile, fine tune nicely and very user friendly.
I have three questions: 1) With the pulse feature of the Everlast PowerTIG 250EX could you weld thin like body panels continually? 2) I have seen $250 or less plasma cutters on Ebay, now they don't come with cords or regulators probably to save money. Most of them state this on their descriptions. 3) Home Depot sells a 120 v plasma cutter with air compressor (Forney 120-Volt 115FI Plasma Cutter with Built-In Compressor) for $800. Are these cutter worth the purchase for the home user or commercial? Rather than answer here you should do vids.
I had a horrible customer service experience with Fronius, with a MagicWave230i, and turned to the Everlast Powertig 250EX. What a great machine, no nonsense, no BS approach from Everlast, everything that you need is in the box, and the machine's built better than the Fronius. If you're here looking for input on Everlast welders, deciding a purchase, do it, you won't regret it. And no Fronius sales representative will ever disrespect yousaying that you can't weld to justify and not acknowledge a bug in their firmware.
Love your stuff. I got my 250EX yesterday. I read the manual last night and had rigging class all day today. I love this machine! I am a Millwright by trade
Does adding filler help avoid the crater / hotshort problem when running 1pps ? I could really benefit from a in depth discussion about TIG filler material. Aluminum, carbon, stainless, AL Bronze, which fillers for dissimilar base metals, repair rods, applications, sizes, Etc. Love the work your doing, thanks
I love what you've done with this welding machine. Is this, in your opinion a good, great, or fantastic machine for the price point? Also, will it do what you need in your welding experience and at what duty cycle? Thanks!
I have maybe 15 hr. weld time on my 250EX. So far it welds good; however, I have fought coolant leaks from poor quality hoses and fittings. I finally threw away the flex head torch because of this. Not a good feeling to raise the helmet and find coolant all over the shop floor. If I had it to do over, I would have spent the money on a Lincoln or Miller.
Great video !! ive been scrolling for awhile now looking for decent ac/dc tig welders for a decent price. So far the everlast is pretty damn good it seems. And 5 year warranty, you cant go wrong.
I am a beginner with no tig experience & was thinking about this welder for some of the projects I'd want to do. Tunnel ram intake manifold. Stainless steel & mild exhaust headers & down stream stuff. Also narrowing differential housings & roll cage tubing, sheet metal replacement (auto). Would you buy this if you planned on making stuff alot ? Or let's say I start off as hobbyist & want to go all in on welding & get certified will this welder still suit a full time need ?
Bod u were talking a lot on crater cracks on alum dump trailers with stress cracking down the length of the weld. Thanks for that tip but I would like to know what base metal u would put on the trailer for a repair and what filler wire u would use some trailer have no tag telling what alloy it is built out of is their a fit all alloy or what.if u have Amy suggestion they will be appreciated thank for ur time and ur u tube channel
AND i wanna mention that since ur trying to reach world wide welders. u should have some weld compairisons with different aluminum tig rods. Europe use the 5356 alot. wich is much less prone to cracking. and it doesent have the same fluidness to it.
I was welding steps inside a H beam. and we had 1 mm 70s6 wire. and it was millskale and some rust on the H beam. it was 30 mm and the steps where 20 mm, with spray transfer. welded most of it downhill. would that be ok ? how well does downhill spraytransfer penetrate ? that would be wary interesting to see.
Love your videos. I just got me a everlast 256si and in the book that came with it said to run the tig torch to the negative and the ground clamp to the positive. Looks like you have yours set up backwards. Is there a reason for that? I just started learning tig so I figure I'd ask.
Not sure why you would think that?? I have the very same machine and he has it set up on Electrode Negative like you should. The positive terminal on this machine is the one on the right.
I don't think is the fish eye that crack the weld is the heat and that's why the fish eye is deep because the material is watery because of the heat, that's with the spoolgun
I know this comment is a year old and you may have already answered it or bought a cooler.... but I've got the Everlast 185dv it came with an air cooled 17. The 17 got uncomfortably hot fairly quickly. I'm not a welder I'm an automotive tech so I bought a cheap Amazon cooler and a 20 torch from the Everlast website and let me tell you.... it's nice
@@phillipg9345 everlast sent me the watercooled tig torch, i called everlast customer service and they exchanged the water cooled torch for a air cooled one free of charge. The prosses did take about 3 weeks because of shipping.
Anyone know if this machine is capable of welding on aluminum wheels? For example a cracked wheel that I have cut through the crack with a cut off wheel to get good penetration on, another example sometimes wheels have lips on the edge that have chunks missing, could I build up material on the lip to have resurfaced with a CNC later?
im working mild steel and when i terminate my weld there seems to end with a hole i have tried adding more to the end to stop it from happening but no result has been successful
With all due respect this is more of a welding class than a review of the machine, I was excited to watch a review as I have purchased this machine but I am disappointed in this video.
I'm about to leave and graduate high school in about 9 days and i'm leaving with 4 certifications (3g Dual FCAW, 3g SMAW (7018), 3g GMAW and 4g GMAW) , and I have no idea where to look or how to find a fabrication job. I have talked to my welding teacher and he didn't really help. Can anyone give me ideas of how to get into the welding business? I live in Arizona BTW. I just don't know where to look.
Check with your local trade unions, weld and fab shops, equipment dealers and building trade and heavy highway contractors. A lot of pipe line work going on. I'm talking from my experience after a great 40 plus year career with great contractors and being a life member of the International Union Of Operating Engineers Local 18- Ohio with great training, benefits and now a great retirement with a super Defined Benefit Pension! What ever you do, the sooner you start your career and pension the better. Good Luck.
I'd like to learn how to weld , I think I can do things wrong without training to do them wrong, Some time spent , dont do this makes sence but time spent doing it wrong just seems wrong.
I'm considering selling my Syncrowave 200 because I want an inverter TIG machine, I'm not happy with how the Syncrowave welds aluminum. I'm leaning towards the EX, any thoughts anyone?
