Christus Factus Est - Anton Bruckner

We bring to you a beautiful motet by the 19th century Austrian composer Anton Bruckner entitled Christus factus est, recorded very recently by Caritas in the fabulous setting and acoustic of St German’s Church, Cardiff.
Listen out especially for the dramatic contrasts in terms of dynamics, pitch, tone and mood, gradually building towards a sensational climax with the sopranos hitting top As, and then leading to a stunningly beautiful ending with some exquisite harmonies.
The English translation of the Latin text is:
Christ became obedient for us unto death, even to the death, death on the cross.
