@@Wasechubby depends on the type of cloth you used i just bought 5 wiis and i managed to get one to read disks with this trick but not the other two for one of them a bunch of blue stuff came out on the cloth and the last one the dang cloth fell off inside the drive so ill be taking them both apart
If my lens is getting fucked bc of age, wouldn't it affect all discs and not just a couple? As I have this problem with GC on the wii, all other games seem fine, the GC games are not scratched? Doesn't seem to b a problem except it refuses to play?

Where exactly is the lens? I saw another UA-cam video where the cleaning cloth was facing the interior, that is, facing the side nearest the front panel buttons. In your demo, the cloth is facing towards the edge of the box, meaning it's oriented away from the front panel buttons. Thanks.
It's on the fat side of the disk tray aka the one with the buttons I think may have done it the other way when he was actually cleaning it but the wrong way in the video

Now the game launches but when I wanna choose a save file I have the loading screen but hear "tchak...tchak" in the console and then it crashes. This disk has been there for a week, and now some disks that it used to read won't make it anymore. Could it still be the lens, since it can still recognise the disc but can't play it, or is my disc dead ?

@@bernardlermite178 medical alcohol is just a another name for isopropyl alcohol so you should be fine, 90% isopropyl alcohol is perfect since it dries up quickly after cleaning so after maybe 10 minutes you should be able to check your console.
They have simple disc repair kits. However, even those depend on the severity of the scratches in question. Basically you spray it with a cleaning fluid that fills in the scratches. While rotating the disc with the repair kit.

We had a second wii that just recently stopped reading the disc and decided try this. For shits and giggles I also did it to our original wii that has all the downloaded games which is why we held onto it and had to switch back and forth to the new one to play disc games. This worked on our original wii and not the newer one 😂😂😂 We havent been able to use it in over 6 years 💀

Does the disc reader not work or does the whole Wii not work? Also, if it's broken and you bought it online through a service like Paypal with buyer protection, you can request a refund. But you should make sure if you can make it work first. If you do end up getting a refund, I'd recommend going to Ebay to buy a pre-owned Wii for cheaper

If the lens cleaning trick doesn't work I would recommend taking it to a retro games store and trying to get it repaired, or like I mentioned before, returning it. Small repairs can usually cost from $20-$40 so if you're tight on money it's probably best to return it

I removed the disc, made sure it was off and sprayed some canned air into the disk slot, and it worked!
I was thinking about doing that but was concerned about moisture.

They often have thin “hoses” that are thin enough to completely go right in the disc slot.

Sounds like system itself is failing if it is several disc. It could be lens but without looking at I am not 100% sure

$50 is a great deal even if the Wii isn’t reading discs. The games there are worth that and the accessories too
