S C Glad this was helpful to you! I believe that you are supposed to season it every 4 to 6 months depending on how much you use it. If food starts to stick even with oil, reseason.
Yeah it's been years since I bought this and it's still on my stove ready to go. It by no means lived up to the hype of the infomercials but it is way better than a regular steel pan with Teflon. Thanks for watching and commenting!!
I had to buy a new one. my last one got scratched up. But it was lifetime guaranteed. so I just got another one for free. I had forgotten how to season it so your video was very helpful, thanks,
For the longest time I thought this applied primarily to cast iron, stainless steel or any pans that weren't non stick. But it seems perfectly reasonable that with a little maintenance will extend the life of the product.
Simply not true when you season a cast iron you get it hot and I mean oil smoking hot that process hardens the oil to create a barrier between the pan and what you are cooking now what he is doing is throwing it in the oven at 300 and that’s not even close to smoke point Bottom line no need to season a nonstick skillet when it scratches get rid of it if you want something that will last a lifetime get carbon steel or cast iron skillet
@@bassboy6963 this is definitely incorrect thinking you definitely want to season these pans as described they will definitely last longer and cook food much better I’ve had mine for over four years and cook with it almost daily I season at least every two months and it works the same as the day I got it!
I think bassboy missed the part about this being a copper pan..cast iron pans are a different metal (can't believe I actually have to say that). you want to avoid hot hot heat with copper pans. once again not the same as cast iron pans.. the seasoning process is there for also different.
Question I see you have a gas stove. I find my pots on the outside are getting white marks. I used a silicon scrub and made some headway. But did not remove the white completely. Do you or anyone have any ideas?? Thanks 🙂
We just got the Gotham brand set for my mom. So glad I found your video! I'm going to do this for all the pans tomorrow! How long will seasoning last/how often should you season them? I've seen people just heat them on the stove top, is the oven method faster/better?
tessa84x It just depends on how much and what you cook. Typically season every 4 to 6 months. If the food starts to stick then time to season again. I haven't heard about the stove top method.
Hi there. Thank you for this. I'm assuming as you're in USA, that's 300 degrees Fahrenheit? Our ovens in the UK are in Celsius, which makes 300 degrees Fahrenheit approximately 150 degrees Celsius.
Yes I am in the US. Thank you for watching from across the pond!! I didn't think about people watching this from different countries. Thank you for the conversion!!
Peeps, this works for ANY type of pan, including stainless steel. I mixed 2/3 grapeseed oil w 1/3 beeswax melted together to make a wax paste to season a cheap stainless steel pan and now it's slippery as Teflon - without the dangers. Try it.
I watched this video after I put mine in the oven for seasoning, I was concerned because I poured about a tablespoon in the pan, spread it around with paper towel, and it immediately beaded up into little puddles! I tried pushing it in with my fingers but it still separated. I thought, how can it be seasoned if the oil won't stay put? And then I see this guy barely putting any on, I guess I used too much. Hah. I used avocado oil.
Well this isn't a T-fal and this is for standard seasoning of a copper pan. By all means follow your specific pan manufactorers recommended instructions. But I personally would find it hard to keep temperature on a stovetop. Thanks for watching!!
Talked to the manufacturer copper chef... They highly recommend seasoning before use... No olive oil, any other oil would be fine. Oven at 300 for 15 minutes, stove top for 10-15 minutes and let it cool. Done.
Oh wow! Thank you SO MUCH! You gave me the answer that I was looking for! My oven doesn’t work and my pan keeps on sticking up all the time. Thank you again for that information about the manufacture copper company that told you this information. Peace.
@@L3V1T8-84Hi, just put any oil with a paper towel and rubber it into the pan and let sit in very low temperature for 15 to 20 minutes than let it cool. Peace.
The food will stick to the pan A LOT easier. Seasoning it helps the food to not stick. Even tho they advertise that this is a non-stick pan, things can still stick. Seasoning it just makes it even more non-stick.
Saul Salinas seasoning It will hopefully help to make it more effective. After reading multiple reviews about this product most people say that around the six to eight month Mark these pans start to stick and take damage. If you season them that may not happen I'm thinking about buying me a set, but only if I could get it to last longer than 8 months. There's other copper pans out there like copper chef but I don't think copper Chef is as nonstick as these Gotham Steel one's.
Warranty on these suck. You have to mail pan back. $8.00 and also send them a check for $9.99. Forget about it. $17.99 . You can buy one for that. Their warranty simply lets you buy another one from them. Some warranty.
LoL it's just a digital oven. My clothes dryer beeps like that too. Yes, you can season it as many times as you like. I mainly only use it now for quick stuff but I use my cast iron skillet the most.
Cooking spray ruins non stick pans and other cookware. It contains ingredients that when heated produce sticky resins that are impossible to remove. Cheaper and easier to buy a spray pump and fill with oil and use that instead
This is nonstick. Not copper. Theres a huge difference. This pan is falsely advertised as copper due to its color but its nonstick. Nonstick must be replaced once its no longer nonstick (due to health reasons)
Seasoning it is a waste of time. I tried it. It will still stick. Instead of washing it after use, just throw it out. You’ll have more space in your kitchen.
LoL, well mine is still doing good. You're never going to get the nonstickiness as they show in the infomercials... that's just common sense. I needed a pan, this was cheap and is still working descent today. But thanks for watching!!
Had mine 2 years already. Never seasoned. Still working extremely well with daily use and better than any previous non stick. I don't understand the negative reviews as I have been really satisfied. Any sticking that happens (all do depending on what's being cooked and the ingredients) just washes up quickly and easily, at least from my experience. I am wondering why there is such a difference in experience with this. I had tried many non stick before this brand and found them discarded within 6-12 months because nothing would clean them and they stuck like crazy after short usage.
I bought one of these pans, and will never buy another .. As soon as you run it through the dishwasher, they completely loose their "no stick" ability..... EVERYTHING sticks to it..... Back to Teflon I go.
Buul shit. The coating is ceramic and ANYTHING put on it to "season" it slides off or is wiped off the first time it is cleaned. You should be put in jail until you forget how to spell youtube.
ared18t...Wrong you're resurfacing the non stick protection of pan with what... Seasoning is breaking in a pot with built up cooking !!!....Why is SEASONING needed for non stick items, it isn't !!!
Copper Chef says do not season theirs......It could ruin the surface. Red Copper is a different story Plus, you really shouldn't season a non-stick cookware anyway for the same reason
I agree. What's the point of buying a non stick pan when you have to treat it so it will be non stick. The oil just heats up, runs down into the corner and bakes for 20 minutes. I think its a waste of time and energy. I bet maybe 1% of the pan surface retains any oil when you put it in the oven. Cast iron Ya, this stuff forget it. And one more thing. This dudes voice reminds me of someone: "Oh wait was she a great big fat person"
Thank you so much. My pots just arrived. Definitely doing this tonight
Thank, thank...I have been searching online about this forever.
I didn’t even know they needed seasonings but mine are starting to stick so I’m going to try that thank you!
How did it go friend?
Mine started sticking after about a month, so I am trying this. Thanks.
Thank you for this. There were no seasoning directions with my pan.
S C Glad this was helpful to you! I believe that you are supposed to season it every 4 to 6 months depending on how much you use it. If food starts to stick even with oil, reseason.
I found the key to using this pan is using the slow and low method don’t use high heat and season often I try once a month but this is my go to pan !
great pan!! very durable favorite of mine it's even fun to use
This pan is my favorite and easy to use.

how often do you season your pans. some people say every 6 months
Every 4 to 6 months. Or when ever the food starts to stick.
How do you season without that big ass oven?
How about cleaning the inside of these pans from blackened stubborn grease?
Try a magic eraser. It worked for mine
Is this the the cooper chef pan as well?
Copper Chef says No
I saw in the instructions that after several washings the pan needs to be re seasoned. not sure how often. I guess when things start sticking
Yep, that's when I do it.
I have olive oil and peanut oil. Will that work?
Solitaire401
No olive oil
Do you have to use vegetable oil for seasoning? All I have is coconut oil, will that still work?
April Teesdale
Coconut oil has a smoking point of 350° F. It should still work but I would keep a close eye on it.
No it will not work, it won’t make a good “crust”.
Ok what if we use avocado oil instead of vegetable oil or even coconut oil
T-fal recommends heating on the stove top, not the oven.
Well this isn't a T-fal and this is for standard seasoning of a copper pan. By all means follow your specific pan manufactorers recommended instructions. But I personally would find it hard to keep temperature on a stovetop. Thanks for watching!!
I returned mine.
You definately need to use oil. There's a reason they always show a fatty cut off meat or eggs, and never vegetables.
Talked to the manufacturer copper chef... They highly recommend seasoning before use... No olive oil, any other oil would be fine. Oven at 300 for 15 minutes, stove top for 10-15 minutes and let it cool. Done.

WHAT WERE THOSE?SILICONE GLOVES? I GOOGLED THEM AND DIDNT FIND
I got them on Ebay. Just search there for 'Silicone Gloves'. I love them!!
Which oil could be best for your seasoning? Vegetable oil, avocado oil? olive oil?
can it go into the oven?
Yes, as long as it's like this one and has no plastic or rubber on it.
I thought the whole point of these pans are that we don't have to use butter or oil but many have said we still have to.
Karbry Ramirez, Yeah but nothing ever lives up the hype. Does it work, yes, 100% like the commercials?? No. It's a good product, not a great one.
Scott Youger Fair enough. I guess I'm still a little naive. Never heard of seasoning them either. I'll definitely do this from now on.

Do you use metal spatulas/utensils with that?
I don't and wouldn't recommend it.
Definitely not! I ruined one of the green pans (same thing different color). They are pretty tender actually.
Kelly Fadel I use silicone utensils only.
Why would you? Even if it says you can, I prefer to look after my kitchen pots, pans and utensils.
why would you use metal spatulas, spoons, etc. on Non-stick cookware??
Olive oil work too?
Battlestar Lelouch
I was told olive oil ruins these pans double check
But iv got a plastic handle mnnn
Do it on the stovetop, medium heat for 15 minutes.
It is not made on COPPER, it's just coated with a copper color non stick coating
