    Seems very little wrong for such an old car. Excellent news.
    I would definitely just get those drop links replaced though. Feels like you'll just be faffing around with the tape really. Get them off and dont need to worry about them for another few years.

    BMW OEM drop links are made by LEMFORDER and they are £21 each from GSF and take about 5 minutes to change on your 2 post lift. No need to pay BMW Main Steeler extra money for an identical part in an expensive box. :-) Do keep in mind that they are handed so an Offside / driver side one that you need is GSF part No: GSF427BM0180 and the nearside one part number ends with ... 170.
    I just did both sides on my 2007 525d E61 while fitting brand new OEM front shocks & top mounts.
    Great to see you do an update on the old girl ... I hope you have a few more E61 vids coming up in the very near future.

    Very happy to see, the bmw didn't become a money pit. And it's such a beautiful car, really love the look.
    The fixes won't be too expensive, can't wait for the videos

    Quick fix for the wiper noise is put the shorter blade on the driver side (in UK) and longer blade on passenger side (swap them over). This solves the wiper noise problem. I had a noisy driver side wiper for years that drove me nuts until a BMW tech told me this fix. I too thought it was the wiper bearing but It's been fine since, no noise, good wiper coverage.

    Genuine lemforder drop links are literally about £15 mate, not worth trying to repair them

    Better to buy a front suspension arm kit from febi bilstein. Replace everything at the same time. Given the mileage of the car it will make the car feel like new again.
    Cheaper than buying individual components over the long run.

    After my OEM wiper assembly bearings failed and ended up burning out the wiper motor. I just bought a new 3rd party wiper assembly for 20 quid from eBay and a second hand wiper motor off a scrap E60 and it works fine.

    2. The explain of the advisory on the ball joint dust cover! You used every word, just in a different order! V funny!!

    I have 2007 BMW 320d e90 with the m47 engine, the car is now touching 180,000 miles and only now it started showing signs of wear on the suspension components, everything is original on the car, so i recently decided to buy everything for the suspension, arms, bushes, links, bilstein shocks and eibach pro springs, i hope it makes a massive difference as it cost a lot money haha, next thing is turbo, injectors, and the timing chain as its still the original one.

    Wow, 12,000 miles per oil change, on these engines recommended every 5k max, I used to use shell oil, but changed to liquimoly 4600, with liquimoly hydraulic lifter additive, and liquimoly mos20 oil additive, combined together the engine is a lot quite and happier.

    Does anyone have some advice on the N52 petrol engine? Are they good enough? Thinking of buying one in the future but don't wanna mes with the diesel. I know petrol consumes way more fuel, but the sound is way better, potentially less problems during the winter and the engine itself is less complicated and intricate, has no turbos, etc.

    Yesterday I was watching the Z series again, then I thought whats happening with bimmer...
    Btw the oil sensors are jokes, they only count cold starts, nothing to do with quality checks, depending on use n the car, 6-8 max 10k for oil changes

  • @UndeadCrook
    @UndeadCrook 3 роки тому +3

    12k oil change, thats madness. I never let it go more than 8k even on a daily driver, on my track/toy/weekend car 2/3k miles max.

    • @wearejames1
      @wearejames1 3 роки тому +2

      Yes, 12K for an oil change seems far too high, I tend to do oil & filter @ about 4K on my daily.
      I would bother with tape for those dust covers on the drop links, they are likely to be a bit worn and as they are relatively cheap just put new ones on - preventative maintenance👍
