Good video. As a player with over 10k hours myself I can tell you know what you're talking about. What I would like to see your thoughts on and your build is the hunter cave. IMO it's maybe the best cave on the island now after the cave changes. Especially for smaller to medium tribes.
I have an is this cave good series that I recorded a few weeks ago and have been editing since then. Looks like hunter and lava cave are the last 2 that need to be edited and Will most likely be my next 2 videos. Currently the caves I am planning on doing a defense build series on are Pack, Ice, Brute, and Hunter.
Nice! I'm looking forward to it! We were built there on small tribes and actually able to last a long time. Just had too much of an offline timer. Recently I moved to an unofficial surver and then built there again so I'm curious as to how you would build it
As a good builder myself I thought I was the only one thinking that no turrets should be on structures if not barely any. Then I see all these UA-camrs doing deathwalls and stuff and thought I was doing something wrong lol.
Right lol its very old school Ark Evolved thinking. Without hatchframes structures are even more venerable to tek weapons. Due to cannons and tech weapons structures are a weak point for turrets. The only issue with turrets not on structures is getting them set up to fire the same distance. There is a chance that there is an invisible mesh that blocks shots as well. Turrets can not fire in 4 directions though that may not matter depending n the area. If you conquer those 3 issues turrets are so much stronger not on structures.
what do you think about turret settings now? i would think most should be on players only so they dont get drained by turtles but I definitely dont have the experience you do.
If you put your turrets on players only then you essentially do not have turrets. Once the players and tame turrets are soaked they can simply whistle in dinos with c4 strapped to them or use platform builds to destroy your turrets. !0% or less of oyur turrets should be on players only. That said tek turrets do not shoot explosives so having tek turrets high up in elevation on players only can mess up steggo riders and other non platform soakers / tek rexes ect. @@CamwayGaming ok i see your point and the video about cheesing turrets was really good. Im talking about pack cave though. If everything is on players and tames wont just a few players on terror birds be able to run turrets in that first room? Im on official 1x.
@@Doth_ Ya but so can players just on foot. Out of 100 turrets you do not want more than 10 on players only if you want to push it 20 at max. Stopping terror birds and players on foot is more of a spamming correctly than turret setting thing. Spamming correctly will also help against speed hacks. Nothing is perfect though. The only way to stop players is to be online and killing them Tek turrets push both players and terror birds back slowing them down but they do not shoot explosives
@@CamwayGaming yeah i got some nasty foundation and railings spam i came up with in pack, and all the turrets on the walls. Not quite done but i think its pretty good. ill probably go with 10 on players. Thanks for all the tips! not sure how many turrets ill put on the main tunnel like you did. seems like it wont stop much and a good way to lose a lot of turrets fast.
@@Doth_ It can be the less there the faster it goes it is really more of a good place to fight at. With teks place correctly out of line of site of outside the tunnel but in a way the pushes players back as they get close to the turrets it can delay a smaller group. But ya with flak at 1500+ dura it takes a lot to kill a player with beer and shields now
As a defense builder with 20k hours, I see you know your shit, the only thing I would do is put a few turrets in the hallways. Players might fly through past everything in the front and have a sliver of health left and if they make it to the hallways without dying the cave is pretty much done if they can place sleeping bags, internals turrets are the most important, Even if it's a few
Can you please do hunter cave as im currently building up in. Got 4 skeleton towers out the front with a lot of foundations and gates spammed out thank you :)

Sleeping bags don’t matter, not like you can spawn in with a kit
