- Fishing the Yak-A-Bass tournament on Lake Don Pedro. Our day of practice was productive with fish being caught everywhere we went on a topwater. Had a few areas where there were big schools of fish popping bait. Hopefully they stick around for game day but the 1 day of cold front that came in may change the bite.

How are you liking that SLX DC? Was thinking about grabbing one on sale
I really like them. They cast really nice. Doesn’t feel too good in the palm compared to other Shimano reels like the Curado MGL but the SLX DC cast much better than the MGL. I’ve had mine for over a year and it hasn’t fallen apart so I’m pretty happy with mine lol
What are the specs on your rod you use for topwater. And do you use a leader or just straight braid ?
It's a 7'4 medium heavy, its like a 4power rod. I just use straight braid

I tried, they still werent willing to bite. I spent a good portion of my time scoping them and at the end just turned off my ff and went fishing. If it wasnt on the surface they wouldnt even follow the bait for me
